Wei Juan followed Su Wantang's gaze and saw the man not far away.
The man before me was dressed in a green military uniform, his posture was straight and upright, his temperament was tall and majestic, and he inspired awe.
His features did indeed resemble hers somewhat...
Upon seeing Zheng Feng, Wei Juan was momentarily stunned. She had a lot to say before coming, but upon seeing him, she was speechless.
For a moment, I didn't know what to say.
"Commander Zheng!" Su Wantang greeted him first.
Zheng Feng then came to his senses and forced a smile: "Comrade Su, you're out so early?"
“We went beachcombing,” Su Wantang introduced. “By the way, this is Wei Juan, whom I told you about, my best friend.”
Zheng Feng's gaze fell on Wei Juan again, his voice trembling slightly: "Hello, I am Zheng Feng."
Wei Juan snapped out of her daze and nodded somewhat flusteredly: "Hello, Brigade Commander Zheng."
"I was originally planning to introduce you two, but I didn't expect to run into you here," Su Wantang said with a smile. "Commander Zheng, where are you headed?"
"I just came back from a mission." Zheng Feng suppressed his emotions. "You guys came back from the beach?"
"Yes, I collected some seashells." Su Wantang held up the bucket to show him.
“Not bad, not bad…” Zheng Feng nodded, his gaze returning to Wei Juan. “She looks… she really looks just like her…”
He's practically a carbon copy of his lover.
"Who does she look like?" Wei Juan asked tentatively.
Her heart trembled.
Su Wantang sensed that they had something to say to each other, so she cleared her throat and said, "Um... I have some things to take care of at home, so I'll head back now."
As she spoke, Su Wantang looked at Wei Juan beside her, "Brigade Commander Zheng probably has something to say to you. You two talk. After you're done, go home and find me."
"Okay." Wei Juan nodded and watched Su Wantang leave.
At this moment, only Zheng Feng and Wei Juan remained in the area.
For a moment, Wei Juan felt a little nervous.
"Young man, where are you from?"
Wei Juan turned to look at him: "I'm from Shanghai, so what?"
Zheng Feng's heart skipped a beat.
She's from Shanghai, and she's a Shanghainese too.
"It's nothing, I just felt your accent was familiar." Zheng Feng forced a smile. "I'm also from Shanghai."
"Really? Then we're practically from the same hometown." Wei Juan smiled, feeling an even stronger sense of kinship.
“Yes, fellow villager.” Zheng Feng repeated the two words, his eyes full of deep meaning.
“You look so much like an old friend of mine.” His voice trembled slightly. “May I ask if you know someone named Liu Yun?”
With a bang, Wei Juan's mind went completely blank.
Liu Yun.
That's her mother's name.
A name that no one has mentioned since her mother died.
Her heart pounded. Looking at the man before her, her voice was taut: "How do you know this name? What is your relationship with her?"
When the man saw her reaction, a light suddenly lit up in his eyes. That light was too complex, containing excitement, anticipation, and deep pain.
"You...you really know her?" (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
