Within minutes, a trace of color returned to Qian Bo's paper-white face. He took a long, deep breath, his eyelids trembled, and he slowly opened his eyes.
"I..." He looked at the people surrounding him, his eyes still somewhat confused.
"Uncle Qian, you're awake!" The nurse cried tears of joy.
Uncle Qian struggled to sit up, feeling a warm current surge through his body, dispelling the deep-seated exhaustion. He looked at Su Wantang, who was supporting him, his cloudy eyes clearing with surprise: "Comrade Su...it's you?"
"You can't fall down, we need you here," Su Wantang said softly.
Uncle Qian fell silent, giving Su Wantang a deep, complex look. He didn't ask about the origin of the medicine, but simply nodded emphatically: "Good girl, thank you."
He stood up again, his voice still hoarse, but with more strength: "Don't panic! Continue treatment!"
With Su Wantang's arrival, the chaos in the infirmary was finally somewhat alleviated. She didn't understand Western medicine's injections and drugs, but the traditional Chinese medicine emergency and conditioning techniques she had learned from the space proved remarkably effective at this moment. She used simple massage techniques to relieve the patients' high fevers and used specially made herbal teas to help them stop vomiting; her movements were skillful and methodical.
Uncle Qian watched from the side, increasingly alarmed. This was not something an ordinary military wife should know; it was the demeanor of a seasoned expert who had been immersed in this field for many years.
But he didn't ask any questions. Saving lives was the top priority right now.
It's late at night.
The military family compound was deathly silent, except for the light still on in the infirmary.
Su Wantang dragged her tired body home, but Lu Linchuan hadn't returned yet. As the commander of the troops, he was currently on the front line directing the lockdown and quarantine efforts, busier than anyone else.
That's fine.
She locked the door, drew the curtains, and it felt as if she were the only person left in the world.
With a thought, she entered the space.
Unlike the desolate and dilapidated outside, the space is always filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers, teeming with life. The futuristic white building stands quietly beside the spiritual spring, like a sacred place transcending the mortal world.
But Su Wantang had no interest in appreciating the scenery.
She walked straight into the medical laboratory inside the building. The light here was soft and bright, and rows of sophisticated instruments shimmered with a faint blue glow. From the pocket of her white coat, she carefully took out a piece of cloth wrapped in oil paper. It was some blood that had splattered on the table when a patient coughed up blood earlier that day in the infirmary, which she had secretly collected when no one was looking.
This is a virus sample.
She placed the sample into the analyzer, and countless complex data streams immediately appeared on the huge virtual screen. The virus's structure, replication method, weaknesses... all information was analyzed one by one.
Su Wantang sat at the control panel, her expression focused.
Her fingers flew across the virtual keyboard, accessing the vast data in the spatial medical database to begin reverse engineering of the vaccine.
This is an incredibly tedious and mentally taxing process.
Simulation after simulation, failure after failure.
The red alert on the screen flashed countless times.
She didn't know how much time had passed, only that the sky outside had changed from pitch black to grayish-white, and then back to pitch black. She felt no fatigue in the space, but her mind was stretched to its limit.
There was only one thought in my mind: Faster, faster!
Lin Chuan is still outside; he comes into contact with the most people and is in the most danger.
There's also Sister-in-law Zhao Jing, Sister-in-law Sun Xiulian, and Uncle Qian... they're all waiting.
Finally, after countless attempts, a green "success" indicator appeared on the screen. A crystal-clear blue potion slowly formed in the synthesizer.
The vaccine has been successfully developed. This chapter has been completed. (Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
