Time ticked by, and Lu Linchuan and his group of leaders outside the door were extremely anxious.
After an unknown amount of time, Su Wantang finally came out holding a vial of medicine that emitted a soft green light.
Her face was pale, and her forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat.
"Let me do it." Lu Linchuan took the injection, walked to the bedside, and without hesitation, pushed the vial of medicine into Qin Tian's vein.
Everyone held their breath.
This time, the miracle didn't happen immediately.
Throughout the night, Qin Tian's vital signs were like walking a tightrope, fluctuating wildly and triggering alarms several times.
It wasn't until the first rays of sunlight shone into the ward the next morning that the curves on the monitoring equipment finally stabilized.
He survived.
A few days later, the ulcers on Qin Tian's body began to scab over and fall off at a visible speed, and new pink flesh grew out.
When he was finally able to open his eyes and speak, the entire military hospital was in an uproar.
"Thank you... thank you." Qin Tian looked at Su Wantang, who was standing by the bedside, his voice hoarse but full of gratitude.
Su Wantang shook her head: "You still need to rest and recuperate."
The cadres' gratitude towards Su Wantang was beyond words. Awards and honors poured in like snowflakes.
Half a month later, the scars on Qin Tian's face had mostly fallen off.
When Su Wantang went to check on the patients, she saw his face clearly for the first time.
He was a man around fifty years old, with a thin face and a refined demeanor. Although he had just recovered from a serious illness, he still had a scholarly air about him.
However, when Su Wantang saw his eyes and the peak of his eyebrows clearly, she was completely stunned.
They look so alike.
They look so alike!
The photos in her album of her grandfather when he was young are practically identical!
"Comrade Su...?" Qin Tian asked, somewhat puzzled, when he saw her staring at him in a daze. "What's wrong? Is there something wrong with my face?"
"No, no." Su Wantang came back to her senses, concealing the turmoil in her heart, and forced a smile. "It's just... Expert Qin, when I look at you, I feel a strange sense of familiarity."
Upon hearing this, Qin Tian smiled, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes appearing kind and approachable: "It's quite a coincidence, seeing you also feels very familiar, as if I've seen one of my juniors somewhere before."
An absurd thought uncontrollably popped into Su Wantang's mind.
She thought of her uncle, Zhang Hongwei.
When I was little, I didn't notice it, but as I grew older, my uncle's appearance became less and less like my maternal grandparents. My maternal grandfather had the appearance of a refined intellectual, and my maternal grandmother was a gentle woman from the south of China, but my uncle had thick eyebrows and big eyes, and carried a bold and unrestrained air from the north, which was completely different from the temperament of my maternal grandparents.
I used to think it was just a genetic mutation, but now...
Su Wantang's heart was pounding.
She asked, seemingly casually, "Expert Qin, judging from your accent, you don't sound like you're from the Northwest. Where... are you from? Where were you born?" (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
