Chapter 98 The Cold-Faced Instructor Backs Me Up

Chapter 98 The Cold-Faced Instructor Backs Me Up

"I'm fine, thank you everyone for your concern. It's just... it's just that my body is so unreliable. I've already held everyone back in the very first project. I'm so sorry."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened again, and she looked both self-reproachful and strong.

"Oh dear, don't say that. With such intense training, injuries are inevitable."

"Exactly, Instructor Yun is so strict, who can handle it?"

Upon hearing this, Liu Ran sighed, seemingly unintentionally.

"Instructor Yun is doing this for our own good, but... the training is really too tough, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep it up."

Her words resonated with several female soldiers.

Meanwhile, Yun Mu was holding his training record book, checking the results one by one.

Liu Ran seized the opportunity and limped over to them, her voice sweet and delicate.

"Instructor Yun, I'm sorry, it's all my fault, it affected the training progress."

Yun Mu didn't even look up, only giving a faint "hmm".

The feeling of being ignored made Liu Ran feel a little embarrassed, but she was thick-skinned and continued to act.

"Instructor, it really hurts so much, could you... could you let me rest a little longer?"

As she spoke, she tried to get closer to Yun Mu, the scent of her perfume wafting over.

Yun Mu frowned even more deeply, and he took a half step back without making a sound, creating some distance between them.

"If the injury is serious, go to the infirmary. Don't try to tough it out."

His tone remained businesslike, even tinged with impatience.

Yang Yiyi witnessed all of this from a short distance away, and her anger flared up.

She couldn't stand women who were so pretentious.

She took a deep breath, remembered Su Yue's instructions, suppressed her irritation, and strode towards Yun Mu.

"Reporting, Instructor!"

She had a loud voice and stood ramrod straight.

Yun Mu looked up and saw that it was her; a barely perceptible change appeared in his eyes.

"speak."

"Instructor, I'd like to ask about breathing rhythm during long-distance running. I feel it's gotten a bit erratic in the second half. Are there any techniques I can use to adjust it?"

Yang Yiyi asked the question with a serious expression, as if she were discussing business.

This is how trainees should be.

Yun Mu's expression softened slightly, and he was about to speak when Liu Ran interrupted him.

"Oh my, Comrade Yang Yiyi, you're really amazing! You came in first place and you're still so humble."

She covered her mouth, laughing hysterically, but her words were barbed.

"Unlike those of us with poor physical condition, we're already giving it our all just to keep up with the team, so we don't have the energy to study any techniques."

She paused, then turned to Yun Mu, asking with an expression of admiration:

"Instructor, don't you agree? I think training depends on talent. What if Yang Yiyi gets injured because she's so reckless and only knows how to use brute force?"

These words, ostensibly praising Yang Yiyi, were actually a veiled insult, implying that she was simple-minded and all brawn and no brains.

Yang Yiyi's face immediately darkened.

She was about to retort when she met Yun Mu's gaze.

His gaze was calm and even, yet it carried a hint of scrutiny.

Yang Yiyi felt a chill run down her spine and swallowed back the words that were about to come out.

She couldn't argue with Liu Ran here; that would only make Yun Mu think she was petty and immature.

She straightened her back, looked at Yun Mu, and said neither humbly nor arrogantly:

“Instructor, I believe that training relies not on talent, but on perseverance. Since I have good physical fitness, I should set high standards and strict requirements for myself and never try to cheat.”

These words were forceful and resounding, both expressing his own stance and subtly rebuking Liu Ran.

Yun Mu's gaze lingered on her face for two seconds before he nodded.

"you're right."

He looked at Liu Ran, his tone becoming serious.

"On the training ground, there are no weaklings, only soldiers. If you find it too tough, you can submit a report to quit now."

Liu Ran's face turned pale; he never expected that he would shoot himself in the foot.

She dared not say anything more and could only awkwardly retreat to the side.

In the following training sessions, Yang Yiyi was determined and worked harder than anyone else.

Whether it's formation training or obstacle course running, she's always at the forefront, with perfect and meticulous movements.

Liu Ran, however, used his foot injury as an excuse to demand special treatment at every turn.

Every now and then, she would "accidentally" have some physical contact with Yun Mu while he was giving her guidance.

Although Yun Mu immediately dodged each time, the displeasure on his face became more and more obvious.

His gaze would always unconsciously fall on that energetic figure, who was like a little sun.

This female soldier named Yang Yiyi has an indomitable spirit, just like... just like the best soldiers the regimental commander had mentioned.

In the evening, the last training session was a 10-kilometer weighted run.

Liu Ran once again fell behind the group without any suspense. He was panting heavily and would stop from time to time to rub his feet, trying to get Yun Mu's attention.

But this time, Yun Mu didn't even bother to glance at her.

His gaze remained fixed on the figure at the very front of the group.

"First place goes to Yang Yiyi!"

When Yang Yiyi crossed the finish line first again, no one was surprised.

She was so exhausted she was almost collapsing, sweat streaming down her face, but her eyes still shone with an alarming brightness.

She braced herself on her knees, breathing heavily.

A kettle was handed to her.

She looked up and met Yun Mu's deep eyes.

He still had that cold expression, but the words he said made Yang Yiyi's heart skip a beat.

"Good stamina."

These four simple words are more inspiring than any fancy rhetoric.

Yang Yiyi felt all her fatigue disappear. She took the water bottle, tilted her head back and took a big gulp, then grinned and revealed a bright smile.

"Thank you, instructor!"

Not far away, Liu Ran watched this scene, his eyes red with jealousy.

She bit her lower lip hard, her nails digging deep into her palm.

On what grounds?

Why does Yang Yiyi get all the limelight?!

She took out a handkerchief from her pocket, wiped away non-existent sweat from her forehead, and then made an excuse to sneak away to the phone booth behind the training field.

The call connected, and Zhang Sisi's sarcastic voice came through.

"Hey? What's up, Miss Liu?"

Liu Ran lowered his voice and embellished the story of what happened on the training field today.

"Sister Sisi, that Yang Yiyi is too arrogant! And that Instructor Yun, I think he's completely bewitched by Yang Yiyi! You have to help me think of a solution!"

Zhang Sisi on the other end of the phone snorted coldly.

"A little brat like you think she can fight me? Don't be so hasty, the real show is just beginning."

Her voice was filled with resentment and malice.

"Since she enjoys performing, let her shine on a bigger stage!"
