Chapter 43 Roses of the No Man's Land "I'll make them every day from now on."

Chapter 43 Roses of the No Man's Land "I'll make them every day from now on."

"Miss Shen." The assistant, carrying two insulated containers, glanced at Jiang Shiyu before finally settling on Shen Cen. "President Lu heard that you were sick and hospitalized, so he specially prepared some lunch for me to bring to you."

Jiang Shiyu frowned almost imperceptibly, but still took the thermos from Lu Baichuan's assistant.

The assistant nodded politely to Jiang Shiyu and continued to say to Shen Cen, "President Lu originally wanted to deliver it to Miss Shen in person, but he was too busy at the company and couldn't get away, so he specifically asked me to deliver it."

Shen Cen smiled at his assistant: "Thank you for your help. Please tell my brother and me how much you appreciate it."

"Of course, Mr. Lu also said that if Miss Shen needs anything, she should just ask him."

Shen Cen didn't speak, he just nodded.

The assistant quickly excused himself, saying he was busy with company matters, and left. After the assistant left, Jiang Shiyu opened the thermos; it contained chicken soup, which had clearly been simmering for a long time and smelled delicious. But Shen Cen's current illness required her to avoid greasy foods, so how could she drink chicken soup?

He put the lid back on and set the chicken soup aside.

Seeing Jiang Shiyu open and close the lid of the thermos, Shen Cen asked curiously, "What's that?"

"You can't drink chicken soup right now, you need to eat something light."

Shen Cen nodded. The doctor had just warned her that morning, and she still couldn't forget the pain from last night, so naturally she didn't dare to touch the chicken soup.

Jiang Shiyu sat back down next to Shen Cen and casually asked, "Does your brother know you're in the hospital?"

Shen Cen was also curious about this: "I haven't had a chance to tell him yet. Maybe someone I know saw me and that's how he found out?"

If Lu Baichuan knew he was hospitalized for cholecystitis, he certainly wouldn't have brought chicken soup; he would have brought something else lighter. It seems he only knows he's hospitalized.

Jiang Shiyu nodded slightly and said nothing more, but Shen Cen sensed something was amiss.

For some reason, every time Jiang Shiyu was mentioned in front of Lu Baichuan, or Lu Baichuan was mentioned in front of Jiang Shiyu, the two of them reacted strangely. She couldn't quite put her finger on what was wrong, but she felt that the two of them seemed to have a natural aversion to each other, and their expressions were obviously displeased when the other was mentioned.

"What's wrong?" she asked, shaking Jiang Shiyu's hand.

Jiang Shiyu grabbed Shen Cen's hand and rubbed his thumb back and forth in her palm: "It's okay."

"Are you really alright?" She tilted her head and looked at him, her beautiful eyes sparkling as she stared at Jiang Shiyu.

Jiang Shiyu's heart was almost melting from her gaze, and he couldn't help but get up and kiss her forehead.

"Chen Cen, I'm a little jealous seeing other men treating you so well."

After saying that, he added, "Oh, not a little, but very much."

She knew perfectly well that Lu Baichuan had feelings for Shen Cen, but she couldn't say anything because of Lu Baichuan's supposed "brother" status. And Lu Baichuan, using the "brother" title, could openly care for Shen Cen. How could she not be jealous?

Upon hearing this, Shen Cen chuckled softly, her laughter clear and melodious: "Alright, why are you still jealous of my brother? Although we're not blood-related, we've considered each other as siblings for so many years, so don't worry."

A handsome smile slowly curved the man's lips. "Chen Cen, don't you think I'm petty?"

"Hmm? Why are you being stingy?"

"I'm even jealous of your brother, isn't that petty enough?"

Shen Cen laughed out loud, deliberately agreeing with the man's words: "So, it does seem like you're quite stingy."

"Yes, how did I become so stingy? I used to be known as the most generous person."

Jiang Shiyu's words were true; he used to be known for his generosity in their circle. Cheng Jingyan once complimented his watch, and he simply took it off and tossed it into Cheng Jingyan's hand.

If Cheng Jingyan hadn't gone home and searched for the watch, discovering it was a limited edition with only three pieces in total, he would have almost thought it was some worthless item that Young Master Jiang had casually bought and given to him.

However, this generous young master Jiang, known throughout their circle, reserved all his stinginess for Shen Cen; he would hate any man who approached her. Back in high school, Shen Cen was a renowned beauty, with many boys in both the regular and international programs liking her. Looking at those boys, each one was strikingly attractive.

"Am I what they call a 'love-obsessed' person?" Jiang Shiyu raised an eyebrow and asked.

The phrase "love-obsessed" paired with the man's arrogant and cool face made Shen Cen inexplicably amused, and he burst out laughing.

-

The next day, Fu Meihua visited Shen Cen at the hospital.

Upon seeing Fu Meihua, Shen Cen thought he was seeing things and put down his book: "Mom? Aren't you busy at the hospital today? Why did you come to see me?"

Fu Meihua tossed her bag onto the sofa, rolled up her sleeves twice, picked up the CT scan from the table to look at it, and said, "Whether I'm busy or not is my business, but it's your business if you don't tell me you're sick."

Shen Cen remained silent. Over the years, she rarely told Fu Meihua when she was sick, because she felt that even if she did, Fu Meihua would be too busy with work to take care of her.

After reviewing the CT scan, Fu Meihua sat down on the stool next to Chen Cen's bed and gave her a long list of precautions.

In closing, Fu Meihua added, "I'm not as busy at work as you might imagine now."

“Okay.” Shen Cen looked up and asked, “Mom, did my brother tell you I was sick and hospitalized?”

Fu Meihua shook her head: "Xiao Jiang told me."

It was Jiang Shiyu who said it? Shen Cen was stunned.

"You child, do you think my phone number is just for show? You can't even call me when you're sick? I'm a doctor, you know." Fu Meihua continued to scold, but her concern was also evident in her words.

Seeing Shen Cen dressed in a hospital gown, looking so thin and frail, she felt a pang of heartache. If there was anything she regretted in her life, it was that she was heartbroken after her divorce and often failed to control her emotions in front of Shen Cen. Later, after remarrying, she became increasingly busy with work and often neglected to care for Shen Cen.

By the time she realized all this, a sturdy iron fence had already separated the mother and daughter.

"Where's Xiao Jiang?" Afraid of accidentally revealing her true feelings, Fu Meihua steered the conversation towards Jiang Shiyu.

Jiang Shiyu received an urgent phone call in the morning, so Shen Cen told him to go back and deal with it first. Jiang Shiyu promised to come back as soon as he finished.

"Xiao Jiang is so busy with work? I thought running a bar would be easier."

Fu Meihua's words resonated with Shen Cen, "I used to think so too, but now I realize that running a bar is so tiring."

"It can't be that Xiao Jiang is doing another part-time job," Fu Meihua joked. Then, remembering something, she continued, "By the way, Xiao Jiang mentioned that you're having your wedding on December 9th. It's already October. How are your preparations going?"

"I don't know either." Shen Cen smiled a little embarrassedly. Jiang Shiyu had been in charge of preparing for the wedding, and she hadn't paid much attention to it. After being with Jiang Shiyu, she no longer needed to worry about these big and small matters.

“You child… just as clueless as your mother,” Fu Meihua didn’t finish her sentence. “Xiao Jiang is busy with work, so you should help him out sometimes.”

Shen Cen nodded. In fact, she had brought up the topic of preparing for the wedding with Jiang Shiyu several times, but Jiang Shiyu said that she only needed to be a bride who waited patiently, and leave everything to him.

-

After staying in the hospital for two days, Shen Cen was discharged.

The morning after she returned home, she smelled a pleasant fragrance coming from downstairs as soon as she woke up. Still half asleep, she brushed her teeth and went downstairs.

She had promised Jiang Shiyu that she would eat breakfast properly after being discharged from the hospital.

Walking into the kitchen, I saw Jiang Shiyu with a scarf loosely tied around his black shirt, cooking something in a clay pot.

Men are born with an air of nobility, and this is especially true when they wear black shirts, which make them appear even more aristocratic.

Shen Cen's gaze unconsciously fell on the man's slender fingers. Perhaps because of the steam, his knuckles were slightly red, and the veins on the back of his hands were bulging, which looked very sexy.

She stepped forward and rested her chin on Jiang Shiyu's shoulder: "What are you cooking?"

"Clay pot rice noodles." Jiang Shiyu turned his head and pecked Shen Cen's cheek. "This is a new dish that we specially learned for our Teacher Shen."

"How did Boss Jiang become a stay-at-home husband?" Shen Cen teased, as she wrapped her arms around Jiang Shiyu from behind. The man's physique was naturally broad-shouldered and narrow-waisted, making this embrace very comfortable and reassuring.

She found herself becoming increasingly attached to Jiang Shiyu, always wanting to cling to him like a kitten.

The man's Adam's apple bobbed, and he chuckled, "How about I transfer Si Ji to Cheng Jingyan and become a full-time stay-at-home dad, with Teacher Shen as my sugar daddy?"

"Hmm, I'll think about it. Maybe I should hire a man who's even more handsome and considerate than Boss Jiang?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Shen Cen's hand was suddenly grabbed by the man, and the next second, she was pulled into his arms.

When she came to her senses again, their positions had been reversed. She was pinned against the stone platform, her body held tightly by the man's strong arms.

"Baby, I've told you before, I get jealous very easily."

-

Twenty minutes later.

Shen Cen's red lips were slightly swollen from the man's sucking, and an unnatural blush rose on her face.

She sat quietly at the dining table waiting for the man's breakfast, but in her heart she had already mentally cursed him countless times.

Evil wolf! Villain!

He kissed her, then played hard to get, enticing her to kiss him first. And she fell for it, only to be overwhelmed by his kisses when she tried to kiss him back.

She wished she could disappear into a crack in the ground!

"Is Teacher Shen still savoring the memory?" Jiang Shiyu placed the freshly cooked rice noodles in front of Shen Cen, his mischievous grin impossible to hide.

"No, I didn't." Shen Cen's face turned even redder as she buried her head in her rice noodles.

It has to be said that Jiang Shiyu is the best cook Shen Cen has ever seen. He put a lot of side dishes in the rice noodles, which not only looked good but also tasted amazing.

Halfway through the meal, Jiang Shiyu coughed lightly. Shen Cen didn't pay attention at first, but Jiang Shiyu coughed loudly twice more, which finally caught her attention.

"Jiang Shiyu, you're coughing on purpose," she said, covering her mouth with a laugh.

The man showed no embarrassment at being exposed; instead, he remained calm and said, "It's your fault for being so busy eating rice noodles and ignoring me."

"I didn't..." Shen Cen knew that Jiang Shiyu wanted him to praise him, so he simply fulfilled his wish, "The taste is very good, Mr. Jiang's cooking skills are really amazing."

Jiang Shiyu was satisfied and cupped Chen Cen's face in his hands, giving him a kiss.

"Do it every day from now on."
