Now that the decision has been made, there are many things to prepare.
"Shurui, tell him peacefully tonight that there will be a new member in the family."
The feelings developed over time, just like the way they address each other.
She didn't know when it started, but she naturally began to call him Shu Rui Liang, no longer Lu Shu Rui. And he, like his older brother, called himself Yin Yin.
Yu Yin wanted to tell the children herself about the upcoming addition to the family, and didn't want them to hear it from others.
"Yes, I'll tell them tonight, so they know that they're going to be older brothers and sisters."
After saying what needed to be said, I had to go to work.
People are incredibly motivated to go to work these days; having a job is something to be proud of. If something comes up, they'll ask for a short leave, and once they're done, they'll go straight back to work. Even if they're just chatting and gossiping at work, they're still on duty.
"Xiaoyu, what's wrong? You've taken two mornings off in a row. Is everything alright?"
When Sister Wang saw Yu Yin come in, she asked with concern.
"It's nothing, Sister Wang. It's just that I'm pregnant and need to go to the hospital for a checkup."
Yu Yin told the truth that she would soon show her pregnancy and there was no need to hide it.
"Wow, congratulations! You timed it perfectly. Your twins are all grown up now, they can take care of themselves, and they can even help you take care of the younger ones. Isn't that great?"
Sister Wang thinks Yu Yin is lucky; her husband is caring, and her child is quite sensible. And now she's pregnant again, and the timing is perfect.
Thinking about myself, I have one child after another, all pretty much the same age, and I can't help them at all. As for men, well, let's not even talk about them.
"My children are so small, how can they help?"
Yu Yin subconsciously felt that three- or four-year-old children couldn't do anything and their parents still had to follow behind and take care of them.
Sister Wang looked at Yu Yin in shock, feeling as if she and Yu Yin were from different worlds.
"Three or four years old is nothing! In the countryside, they're already helping adults glean wheat in the fields. Some capable little girls can even start a fire and heat up a meal!"
Yu Yin never imagined that a three- or four-year-old child could do these things. In her mind, she saw images of her parents chasing after her with bowls of rice to feed her.
I'm a bit confused right now. I need to clear away some things from the future and decide whichever mountain I'm on.
In the evening, I picked up Ping An and An An, and we went home together.
"Mom, Chu Chen said his little brother can roll over now. He lies on the bed like a little frog, and his bottom is moving."
An'an imitated with exaggerated gestures, almost wanting to lie on the ground and perform it herself.
Does An'an like her younger brother?
"I like it. My younger siblings all like it. The more the better. They can all be my little soldiers."
This is such a childish thing to say. Perhaps because they were born as twins, they haven't yet realized that their parents' love has to be shared, and they don't have the concept of being an only child.
If you were to ask ten children in your future life if they wanted a younger brother or sister, at least eight of them would say no.
I remember a friend who got married saying that her daughter, who was five or six years old, wouldn't allow her to hug other children, and would cry loudly. She said that this was her mother and she couldn't hug other children.
"Mom, are you going to have a younger brother or sister for us?"
Pingping asked softly, her eyes fixed on Yu Yin.
“Yes, Mom is going to give birth to a younger brother or sister for Ping An,” Yu Yin replied calmly.
"Is it a younger brother or a younger sister, or both?"
Before Pingping could speak, An'an interrupted, her voice filled with excitement, perhaps feeling that her little soldier was finally in place.
Pingping looked on with curiosity, waiting for her mother's answer.
"We don't know yet. The doctor said that the mother may be carrying two babies, maybe two brothers or two sisters, or maybe one brother and one sister."
Yu Yin hopes for two children; she truly cannot take care of more than that.
"Wow, Mom, is the baby in your tummy? Wasn't it dug out of the dung heap? I was thinking of going home to get a hoe and dig it out!"
Yu Yin had forgotten this joke; she was interrupted when she tried to bring it up last time.
"May you be safe and sound. The child grows in the mother's womb and will not be born from a dung heap or a garbage dump."
This misunderstanding has persisted for a long time, with some even saying that the child was a free gift with a phone plan!
"Mom, how did you get the baby in your belly? Is there a door in your belly?"
Yu Yin didn't know how to answer An An's question. Should she tell her that her father's sperm and her mother's egg combine to form a fertilized egg, and the fertilized egg divides to form a child? It didn't seem like she could say that. What if An An asked what sperm was?
"Let's talk about this when we get home; we can't talk about it outside."
Yu Yin finished asking An An's questions and quickly headed home. A child with a million questions is terrifying.
Pingping looked at her mother thoughtfully, feeling as if her mother was running away.
"Chu Chen, Chu Chen, I'm telling you, I'm going to have a younger brother or sister, more than you, I'll have two."
An'an didn't go home; she went straight to the neighbor's to show off.
Yu Yin ignored her and led Pingping into the courtyard.
"Why is An'an making such a fuss?"
Lu Shurui has been coming home earlier these past few days. He applied to the principal to have his classes moved to the morning so he can come home earlier in the afternoon.
“I told them I had a younger brother or sister, and she ran next door to brag about it.”
"Oh, you're done talking?"
Lu Shurui was still wondering what to say, whether she should hug them and comfort them.
"Oh dear, things got so complicated. Your daughter was even thinking of going home to get a hoe and digging her younger siblings out of the latrine!"
Yu Yin couldn't help but laugh at the thought of that scene: a family of four, hoes in hand, digging up manure next to a pile of dung.
