Chapter 13 Farming in Space Isn't Easy

Yu Yin's life is like the rising sun, thriving and improving day by day.

Every day, I take my child to work, and after get off work, I think about what delicious food to cook.

The vegetables she and Lu Shurui planted in the yard sprouted, while the vegetables she planted in the space had already grown leaves, since time flowed three times faster inside than outside.

Yu Yin felt a pang of sadness when she talked about growing vegetables in her space.

Once she had recovered enough, she decided to make good use of the space by growing more grains and vegetables. If she couldn't eat them all, she could exchange them for money on the black market.

Ideals are lofty, but reality is harsh.

Unlike other people's systems that come with their own, allowing them to control things with their minds or plant and harvest with a single click, her space requires her to put in her own effort and work hard to earn it.

It was my first time, and I had no experience.

Yu Yin found the vegetable seeds that her deliveryman had sent. There were more than ten kinds, some she recognized and some she didn't. While her child was asleep, Yu Yin took the vegetable seeds and went into her spatial dimension.

She sorted the various vegetable seeds and planned to plant one plot of land for each type for easy management. (At that time, it was mainly for easy differentiation and aesthetics.) With everything ready, Yu Yin couldn't find a control panel or anything similar in the space, so she couldn't plant with a single click.

It seems that it is not yet automated.

Then she used her mind to control it. She sat cross-legged at the edge of the field (beside the tree pit), closed her eyes, and thought in her mind, "The rapeseed is buried in the ground, the rapeseed is buried in the ground..."

A few minutes later, she opened her eyes. The paper packet containing the rapeseed was still lying there quietly. Yu Yin sensed something was wrong and quickly went to check on her. Oh no, the rapeseed was still there, but she wasn't conscious.

A little flustered, Yu Yin stood in the middle of the black soil, her hands clenched tightly, and shouted, "The rapeseed is in the soil, I want to plant vegetables, baby vegetables, come home..."

Despite Yu Yin using different commands and recalling the phrase "Wrong posture, get up and sleep again," and changing different directions and movements, the result remained the same: the rapeseed was still wrapped in the paper, and not a single seed was missing.

Exhausted from all the fuss, Yu Yin had to admit a fact: this space had no system, no control panel, and no fully automated operation. If she wanted to farm, there was only one way: she had to dig holes with a hoe, plant the seeds, and cover them with soil herself.

This truly proves the great man's words: self-reliance leads to abundance. She had previously harbored such dissatisfaction towards Sister Wang, but who would have thought that the tables have turned and today it's her turn to suffer!

After struggling for so long and accomplishing nothing, Yu Yin slunk back to bed. She decided to take a break tonight; she was too exhausted and had no tools. She couldn't exactly dig a hole with her own hands, could she? Time to sleep.

"Wow..."

Just as I was about to fall asleep, the two little ones started crying, one after the other.

As the babies continued to absorb the nourishing essence from breast milk, their physical condition improved significantly. At least, when they cried, it was a loud "waaaah" instead of a soft "whimpering" like a kitten. However, their voices were still a bit soft; otherwise, how come they didn't wake their father?

Yu Yin resignedly got out of bed, changed the diapers one by one, fed the two little ones, and after they fell asleep, Yu Yin dragged her tired body to sleep as well.

When I opened my eyes again, it was broad daylight.

Yu Yinmeng stared, her eyes stinging, a sign of sleep deprivation.

"Yu Yin, come down for dinner."

Ugh, what a mess this is!

"Did the child cry yesterday?"

"No, I woke up once in the middle of the night. I don't know what happened, I couldn't fall back asleep. I finally managed to fall asleep, but then the child woke up again."

Yu Yin thought to herself, "I spent half the night yesterday trying to find a lazy way, but I didn't find anything. It was all for nothing."

After finishing their meal, the two prepared to go to work. Yu Yin kept yawning and had been taking saline solution.

Lu Shurui felt bad, as Yu Yin had done so much more than he had, and he would do more for her in the future.

If Yu Yin knew that her sacrifice of sleep and half the night's toil had resulted in Comrade Lu Shurui feeling guilty, she might feel a little more at ease, at least her efforts weren't in vain.

"Xiaoyu, what's wrong? Is the child being fussy?"

"No, I just had a night owl."

Lack of sleep made Yu Yin feel listless. After finishing her work, she closed her eyes and rested for a while.

Sister Wang, well, she's a bit of a bully who preys on the weak. She dared to boss Yu Yin around like that before because Yu Yin was honest and didn't resist. Now that Yu Yin has returned after giving birth, although she hasn't openly resisted, everything she's doing is a silent form of retaliation.

Sister Wang has become completely honest. In terms of ability, the other woman is a vocational school graduate; in terms of background, her father is the commander of the Production and Construction Corps. She had been blinded by greed before, thinking that the other woman was easy to bully.

Yu Yin was unaware of what Sister Wang was thinking; she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

"Wow..."

The baby's crying woke Yu Yin up; she wiped it and found the baby had peed.

"Sister Wang, I'm going home to change the baby's diaper, I'll be right back."

"Go ahead, there's no rush."

Back home, after tidying up the children, Yu Yin went to the tool shed, found a hoe, and put it in her spatial storage. She also needed a pickaxe to make ridges. With all the tools gathered, she prepared for the evening's vegetable planting.

When you have something on your mind, time seems to drag on. Finally, after work, Yu Yin hurriedly took her child home.

At home, Lu Shurui, who had returned early, had already prepared dinner, which brightened Yu Yin's mood.

After dinner, Yu Yin hurriedly went back to her room to sleep.

Lu Shurui assumed she hadn't slept well the night before and was going to bed early today, so he didn't think much of it.

At this moment, Yu Yin, in this space, wielded her pickaxe, using all her primal strength to create a furrow so winding and intricate that it required no ruler, only the sight of the eighteen bends of a mountain path. Even the champion who proclaimed, "My eyes are my ruler," would regret having no place to use their skills. Holding her back, looking at the crooked furrow, Yu Yin shouted in her heart.
