Time is the best teacher, and that's absolutely true!
After more than a month of adjustment, Yu Yin's family life got back on track.
Every morning, Yu Yin and Lu Shurui get up to prepare breakfast, and their grandparents also get up to exercise.
After breakfast, he rode a bicycle with his four children to school.
To make things easier, Lu Shurui went to several scrap metal recycling stations to buy bicycle parts and assembled a bicycle at home.
Bicycle tickets are so scarce that people have no choice but to give them a rest!
The children found it novel and stopped running around playing. Instead, they gathered around their father, helping him pass things, holding the bike frame, and having a great time.
Occasionally, Grandpa would step forward and offer some pointers, though he would often end up making things worse, but that didn't diminish his enthusiasm.
After overcoming numerous challenges, the 28-inch bicycle, featuring wheels from the Yongjiu brand, a frame from the Fenghuang brand, pedals from the Feige brand, and a seat from the Jinlu brand, officially rolled off the production line and successfully passed its trial period.
Every day, Yu Yin and Lu Shurui ride their bicycles, one sitting on the crossbar in front and the other on the back seat. The two bicycles and the four children become a unique sight in the alley.
Upon arriving at the primary school, Lu Shurui and his companions got off the bikes safely and entered the school. They continued on their way to the daycare center at Shanghai University, where they handed Kuai Kuai and Man Man over to the teachers at the entrance who were there to greet the children. Then, the two of them went to their respective classrooms.
“Yu Yin, over here.” It was Zheng Yue, a daughter of the grasslands, who spoke.
Because of the awkward incident during the class meeting, the two gradually became acquainted.
"Zheng Yue, thanks to you, otherwise I would have to sit at the very back every day." Yu Yin's accounting department has three classes with more than a hundred students, all of whom take large lectures together, so seats are in high demand.
"Don't be so formal, we're like family." Zheng Yue had a chivalrous spirit and a strong sense of江湖 (jianghu, the world of martial arts and chivalry).
The teacher entered, and the classroom instantly fell silent.
After a ten-year hiatus, everyone cherishes this hard-won opportunity to study.
In class, everyone's eyes were glued to the blackboard; no one was daydreaming, talking, or sleeping. Everyone wished they had extra hands and ears to listen more carefully and take down more information.
Think about many universities in later generations. The teachers are lecturing, and the students below are doing all sorts of things. There's nothing they can't do, only things you can't imagine. They come up with all sorts of tricks, but none of them are studying.
Yu Yin has a foundation; she studied accounting in vocational school and has worked for many years, so it sounds like things will be easier for her. But she doesn't dare to be careless; there are too many people chasing after her, and too many people studying hard.
"Ringling..."
After class, before the teacher even left, a group of students surrounded her and asked her questions.
Over the past decade, teachers, and not just teachers, but all educated people, have been impacted, and many have suffered persecution to varying degrees.
However, when the country needs them, they put aside their sorrows and once again stand on the podium to impart knowledge, teach, and resolve doubts, giving their last bit of energy to cultivate talent for the country.
"Going to the toilet?"
"Let's go."
This sounds like a conversation between elementary school students. Going to the toilet together seems to be a privilege reserved for girls.
"Yu Yin, do you know that this season, the grass on our grasslands is starting to sprout? From afar, it's a yellowish-green expanse. Blue skies and white clouds, a wide view, and people's hearts are more open!" Zheng Yue disliked Shanghai, surrounded by concrete buildings, feeling it lacked warmth.
"If you have the chance, go and see for yourself. Can you ride a horse?" Yu Yin was very envious of those who rode horses across the grassland. They looked so dashing and cool!
"What child of the grasslands doesn't know how to ride a horse? We all grew up on horseback." The pride in that tone couldn't be more obvious!
Yu Yin also misses the beautiful mountains and rivers of Yunnan Province, but the possibility of going back is slim.
After they finished using the restroom and finished their reflections, the second class was about to begin. There was no time for sentimentality; it was time to listen to the lesson.
At noon, as soon as the bell rang, Yu Yin was dragged by Zheng Yue to the cafeteria because it would be crowded and there wouldn't be any room.
Yu Yin and Lu Shurui eat lunch at the cafeteria instead of going home; they're too tired.
After school, they would go home safely with the other children in the alley. Sister Ma would prepare the meal, and after eating and resting for a while, the two of them would go to school.
Yu Yin wasn't worried. An An would never lack playmates, and with a dozen or so children together, her safety was guaranteed.
Sister Ma's cooking is delicious and clean, and everyone in the family likes it.
She did a good job with housework and didn't slack off, so Yu Yin kept her around and paid her monthly. Both parties were satisfied and got along well.
"Sigh, it's always the same thing. When can we have something different?" Zheng Yue ordered a bowl of rice and a plate of stir-fried potato slices.
Yu Yin also ordered rice and a plate of stir-fried clams. Seafood is available every day, which Yu Yin likes.
Zheng Yue doesn't like the taste of seafood, so her choices are limited. In Shanghai, seafood is the most abundant food.
"Try this, it's kimchi I made myself."
Yu Yin took out a jar containing the kimchi she had made.
"Yu Yin, you are an angel." Zheng Yue took a bite and instantly came back to life.
"Alright, take this bottle back to your dorm. If you run out, I'll bring you another one."
Yu Yin smuggled all the pickle jars from Yunnan Province into her spatial dimension. With the pickling brine, the pickles could never run out.
After eating and drinking to our hearts' content, we went back to the dormitory to rest for a while before continuing with classes in the afternoon.
The cycle continues, and it's now mid-April.
"Mom, is it time to plant fruit trees?"
An'an had been thinking about it for a long time, and now that the grass outside was sprouting, she was getting anxious.
"Today, I stayed home with my dad and we turned over the soil in the yard again. Mom will go buy fruit tree seedlings later."
