Liang Chao arrived on time on the third day; his military discipline and sense of time were ingrained in him.
"Huang Shan, let me introduce you. This is our store manager, Comrade Liang Chao, a retired soldier."
"Comrade Liang Chao, this is Huang Shan, the only saleswoman in the store. She is a former educated youth who returned to the city."
Yu Yin introduced the two of them, briefly stating their identities.
"Hello, Comrade Liang. Should I call you Manager Liang or Brother Liang?"
Huang Shan also saw Liang Chao's left arm, but only glanced at it and didn't pay much attention. Now she understands why.
“I’m a father of two, much older than you all, just call me Brother Liang.”
"Brother Liang, you can't say that. Look at Yu Yin, she's a mother of four. She can't be compared to someone with more children."
Huang Shan is good at livening up the atmosphere and makes fun of her newly appointed boss.
"ah!"
Liang Chao was a little surprised, not expecting that Yu Yin's family had four children.
"There are two sets of twins in my family."
Yu Yin quickly explained, "She's not a pig; she can't have that many babies. Most people give birth to one at a time, but she gives birth to two at a time, so it's a lot."
"That's really lucky. It's not easy to have even one pair of twins, let alone two. That's rare."
Liang Chao understood. He had wondered how his wife had the courage to have so many children. His wife had only given birth to two and refused to have any more because it was too painful.
"It's a family trait. My brother and I are twins, a boy and a girl, and his family also has twins."
The topic has veered a bit off track; how did we end up talking about having children?
"Getting back to the main point, the goods should arrive around the end of the month. Now we need to find a warehouse and a printing factory. We need to make our own gift boxes and print our own store name and logo on them."
"Sister Yu Yin, what's our shop's name?"
Huang Shan was very curious; the shop was all set up, but she still didn't know its name.
"Green Sprouts Dried Goods Store".
Yu Yin took out a piece of paper with these words on it, as well as icons that Teacher Manman had drawn for her.
"Green sprouts?"
Liang Chao didn't know if it had any special significance.
"My future plan is to work on agricultural and sideline products. 'Green sprout' is the general term. A seed, with its tenacious vitality, will eventually break through the soil and grow into a green sprout. That is hope."
Yu Yin hopes that she, her children, and her family will all live prosperous, energetic, and resilient lives.
"good."
Liang Chao agrees; as long as people have hope, they can persevere and live well.
Huang Shan's eyes welled up with tears; she saw hope.
"Let's split up and try to find connections in the warehouse and printing departments to see if we can resolve this as soon as possible."
Yu Yin set up the work; the shop was currently empty and didn't need anyone to watch over it. The immediate priority was to find a warehouse and a printing plant, and for everyone to contribute their abilities, hoping to receive good news soon.
"I'll contact the warehouse. If it works out, we can finalize it tomorrow." Liang Chao had a plan yesterday and had already made the contact. He's checking the results today, and there shouldn't be any major problems.
“Then I’ll contact the printing factory. I met a fellow villager who works at a printing factory when I went to the countryside. I’ll go find him.” Huang Shan thought of Zhao Tong, whose family owned a printing factory.
Yu Yin also asked her second brother-in-law if their department store had any spare warehouse space to rent out.
The three went their separate ways, agreeing to meet again the next day to see the results.
Leaving aside Liang Chao and Huang Shan, let's focus on Yu Yin going to the department store to consult her second brother-in-law about their warehouse.
"What? You're planning to open a shop selling Yunnan province specialties? When did this happen? I've never heard of it before?"
Cheng Qian was startled. He had only gone on a business trip, so how could Yu Yin have dropped such a bombshell?
"I had just made the decision not long ago when I received a letter from a friend in Yunnan Province saying that many local specialties were not selling this year. I thought to myself, since I own a house, I might as well sell them myself. Isn't the country encouraging individual businesses to develop the economy?"
"I never expected you to be so bold and ahead of the times. The country encourages individual business and self-reliance, mostly to help educated youth who were sent to the countryside, but I never expected you to do this."
Yu Yin was assigned a government position after graduating from university, with a promising future. No one expected that she would start her own business.
"Are you planning to refuse job assignment after graduation?"
"No, I've already found a store manager. They're the ones in charge most of the time, so I just need to supervise. It won't take up too much of my time."
Yu Yin plans to work within the system for a few years to build up her network before deciding whether to resign. She realized that her biggest weakness was knowing too few people, and how could she do business without connections?
“Okay, good, clear thinking, keep up the good work. But Yu Yin, it seems there’s nothing I can do to help you with the warehouse. Our department store warehouse has certain rules and regulations, and there’s overlap between the goods you sell and those in the department store, so it’s impossible for us to rent it to you.”
"I had thought about these things before I came, and I was just trying my luck. I mainly wanted to hear my brother-in-law's opinion, since he's an expert in this area, while I'm a complete novice."
Yu Yin knew that there was almost no hope for the department store. Her second brother-in-law had been away on a business trip recently; otherwise, she would have consulted him about opening the store.
"No problem. What do you want to know? My brother-in-law will definitely tell you everything he knows. Come to me anytime if you need anything."
The two families are close and have a good relationship; they are true relatives.
Yu Yin chatted a lot with her second brother-in-law and learned some relevant inside information and local market conditions. She returned home with a lot of knowledge.
"So? Does your second brother-in-law have any spare storage space?" Lu Shurui asked as Yu Yin entered, but couldn't discern the outcome from her expression.
