Chapter 187 Preparing to Build a Western-Style House

The general plan has been completed, and the land in the yard has been thoroughly tilled; it's quite fertile and turned out well.

The house needs a thorough cleaning, and we also need to take stock of any missing furniture.

Moreover, we need to find professionals to maintain the furniture and walls in the house. We don't even know if we can find someone. These are all things that require experienced craftsmen.

We were busy until evening, then the whole family ate out again. After washing up at home, we went to bed. We were exhausted.

Summer vacation has begun. Slowly started learning to draw again, and Kuai Kuai is going to learn calligraphy. An An and Ping Ping have also enrolled in extracurricular classes at the Children's Palace; they chose them themselves.

Yu Yin went to the store to check the accounts and found that the income had declined because vegetables were in season and dried goods were selling slowly.

"Yu Yin, there are plenty of vegetables this season, and many vegetable vendors have set up stalls. Should we adjust the stock?"

“Brother Liang, we can’t be like small vendors, selling whatever we have. Although our store’s products are also seasonal, the quantity is large. At this stage, we can’t find such large suppliers; they all grow their own products on a small scale.”

"We need to ensure the quality of our existing products and do a good job in promoting and selling the gift boxes; that's the main focus."

Yu Yin knew that once the market opened up, they couldn't monopolize the market. With competition coming, they would maintain high quality and earn a stellar reputation; then they wouldn't lose.

"By the way, Brother Liang, is your house repaired yet? When are you planning to move in?"

When the house was mentioned, Liang Chao laughed, "It's all repaired, and most of my things have been moved in. I'm just waiting to choose an auspicious day so I can move in."

"Is your sister-in-law happy?"

"I'm so happy!" Brother Liang thought of his wife, and unconsciously flashed a set of white teeth.

Yu Yin was thinking about what kind of gift to give Brother Liang for his housewarming. She needed to think about it carefully.

"By the way, Brother Liang, dried goods are most susceptible to dampness this season. The warehouse needs to be checked frequently, and any that are damp or moldy must be dealt with immediately. Also, we can't let anyone pick them up and take them home to eat; it could easily cause trouble."

"clear."

After finishing her business at the shop, Yu Yin went to find Lu Shurui, who was still at the villa. Brother Huang was coming over today to check the roof for any damage.

"Brother Huang, how are they? Are any damaged?"

Yu Yin saw Huang Qiang standing in the yard and quickly asked him a question.

"A few tiles need to be replaced; they're broken, but they're not leaking."

"Okay, then I'll trouble you, Brother Huang. I'll fix everything at once so you won't have to bother me again."

"no problem."

Yu Yin seemed to have heard Huang Shan mention it once; it seemed they had also bought a house.

"Brother Huang, I heard from Huang Shan that you've also bought a house. When are you moving in?"

"I've bought everything, but some furniture still needs to be set up. I'll move in once everything is ready."

Huang Qiang smiled when he mentioned the house he bought. Although it couldn't compare to Yu Yin's, it was still pretty good.

The location is a bit out of the way, but it's closer to where his child goes to school. Most importantly, once he buys the house, he can register his wife and child's household registration. Although it cost him some money to find someone to help, it was worth it. After this, he's back to square one.

A house is a home!

No matter where you live, a house is fundamental. With a house, you feel like you have a home, and your heart can settle down. Otherwise, you'll always feel empty inside, like you're drifting aimlessly.

"Yinyin, are you done?"

"Okay, all done."

“Brother Zhang’s family has been carpenters for generations. Let’s see if he can do some maintenance on the furniture.”

Seeing Yu Yin's confusion, Lu Shurui explained why he and Brother Zhang came out of the house.

"Really? What a coincidence."

“I’ll have my uncle come over tomorrow; he’s a master craftsman at the furniture factory.”

"Okay, thank you for your help, Brother Zhang."

“It’s alright, my uncle has retired. It’s just that he can’t let go of the carpentry he’s done all his life, so he still takes on small jobs occasionally.”

They agreed to come tomorrow to fix the roof and check out the furniture, and then Brother Huang and his companion left.

"If Brother Zhang and Uncle Zhang can take over, it will save us a lot of trouble. Otherwise, we really don't know where to find someone."

"Yes, there aren't many of these old craftsmen left."

With nothing else to do, Yu Yin and Lu Shurui decided to leave. They bought some food, went to visit their grandparents, and told them about the house purchase.

When they arrived at their grandparents' house, they were surprised to find that there were people there, including Lu's parents and Lu Shukang's family.

"Shurui, Yinyin is here. Where are the children?"

"He's studying at the Children's Palace."

Yu Yin handed the food to her grandmother, and as soon as Lu Shukang's two sons saw the food, they exclaimed, "Great-Grandma, we want to eat!"

Mr. Lu glared at Lu Shukang and his son. "You've raised such good children to be like this... it's really..."

“That’s for your great-grandparents. If you want some, I’ll have your dad buy some for you later.”

"I want to eat it now. My dad doesn't have money, so he won't buy it for us."

Grandma Lu sighed. The eldest son of the Shukang family was even older than Kuaikuai and Manman, but alas…

Wang Mengyao felt ashamed when she heard her son say that.

"If you think we're poor, go find someone rich and get yourself new parents. Go be your second uncle's son, his family is rich, isn't that right, second sister-in-law?"

“We don’t need a son. If you can’t afford to raise one, then don’t have one.”

Lu Shurui didn't let Yu Yin speak. He was also annoyed by the couple. They never reflected on their own actions and always blamed others.

"Second brother, you really don't care about your brothers now that you have money. I can raise my own son, don't worry. Even if I have to beg for food in the future, I won't go to your doorstep."

“Going home would be embarrassing.” Perhaps it was because he had gone to university, but Lu Shukang’s temper had suddenly flared up.
