Chapter 215 Graduation

On Dragon Boat Festival, Lu Xiaogu's bizarre actions almost ruined what was supposed to be a wonderful mood.

Fortunately, the two elderly people were quite open-minded and were not affected, continuing to live their lives as usual. In the grandmother's words, she was already close to death and didn't have the energy to worry about too many things; she just wanted to spend the rest of her time comfortably.

On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, the family had a barbecue party in the yard and invited Professor An.

As the sun sets and a gentle breeze blows, the bonfire in the courtyard burns brightly.

"Second sister, can we bake it now?"

Yu Kang was also on holiday, so he came over for a free meal. He had a great time playing with his nephews and nieces. When he got hungry, he just waited for his second sister to give the order, and then he started eating.

"Wait a little longer, the charcoal hasn't caught fire yet."

"Uncle, come here, there's some braised food here. Try a chicken foot, it's delicious."

The little foodie quickly brought over a plate of braised dishes, which he loved and never got tired of, especially the chicken feet.

Yu Kang, I can smell something unusual.

I copied my nephew and grabbed a chicken foot to gnaw on. It was really delicious; it had been stewed for a long time and the meat was almost falling off the bone.

The uncle and nephew, waiting for their kebabs, sat under the still-unripe grape trellis, munching on chicken feet, looking utterly delightful. The grape trellis was almost ready; Yu Yin had dug up many large grapevines from her spatial storage, planted them, and after they recovered, they all survived.

"Alright, you can bake it now."

Yu Yin finally got the charcoal fire ready, put the skewered meat on it, sprinkled some of her homemade barbecue seasoning on top, and the aroma of cumin powder wafted out.

Yu Yin grilled some vegetables, lamb skewers, and shrimp... and brought them over to the three elderly people so they could try them. The health-conscious seniors didn't eat too much, worried about indigestion.

They just love this atmosphere and enjoy listening to the children chattering away.

Yu Yin handed the barbecue grill to Yu Kang and the others, and sat down with Lu Shurui, waiting for them to feed them.

"Uncle, grill more lamb skewers first, then grill other things."

"Okay, An'an, aren't you afraid of becoming a chubby girl if you eat so much meat?"

"I exercise a lot, so how could I possibly gain weight?"

"Too."

The two of them sat by the barbecue grill, chatting away incessantly.

"Sis, don't delay Uncle's grilling of skewers. I can't wait any longer, my mouth is watering."

"Hurry up, good food is worth waiting for, don't rush."

Pingping helped Grandpa Hu roast rabbit, which was his specialty.

A rabbit weighing three or four pounds was sizzling on its surface, coated with a special seasoning.

The courtyard was filled with laughter and cheerful conversation, creating a joyful atmosphere.

Grandpa, Grandma, and Professor An finished eating and strolled around enough; it was time for them to rest. Lu Shurui first took Professor An home. He wasn't used to spending the night away from home and felt unsafe—a lingering effect of those ten years.

Yu Yin went upstairs, leaving Yu Kang and the children to play by themselves. She told them not to eat too much, and that they should get ready to wash up and go to bed after playing for a while, as they had to go to school tomorrow.

When Lu Shurui returned, the children had finished eating. Together, they tidied up the things and, most importantly, put out the open flame, as fire safety is of utmost importance.

A few days after the Dragon Boat Festival, Yu Yin received her internship summary and evaluation and returned to school.

"Yu Yin, it's been a long time."

"Zheng Yue, you used the wrong word. We just saw each other a few days ago!"

Doesn't this show how deeply I miss you?

"hehe……"

Yang Xiaomei giggled beside her; Zheng Yue was so funny.

The three chatted about their situations, and the two girls had already made preparations to return to their hometowns. They were just waiting to receive their graduation certificates and job assignment certificates before they could leave.

Yu Yin and her classmates were busy with some trivial matters before graduation, which made them extremely stressed.

Lu Shurui not only had to prepare for graduation, but also for the postgraduate entrance examination, which were scheduled for close together, one at the end of June and the other at the beginning of July.

Time slipped by unnoticed until the end of June, and Yu Yin and her classmates received their graduation certificates and job assignment certificates.

As expected, Yu Yin was assigned to an internship unit, while Yang Xiaomei and Zheng Yue received good jobs in their hometown city, both from large state-owned factories. Yu Yin didn't know if the wave of layoffs in the 1990s would affect them, but these were good options at the moment.

After taking graduation photos, my university life officially came to an end.

Yu Yin treated Zheng Yue and Yang Xiaomei to a farewell dinner. The three of them hugged and cried at the train station, waved goodbye, and didn't know when they would see each other again.

Yu Yin thought that decades later, when the children had grown up and the country had developed in all aspects, she and Lu Shurui would take a spontaneous trip to see all the beautiful landscapes of their motherland and become the most carefree old couple.

Yu Yin went directly from the train station to the dry goods store before reporting to her workplace the day after tomorrow.

"Yu Yin is here. Have you finished with school matters?"

Liang Chao knew that Yu Yin was busy with graduation matters and hadn't come for a while.

"I'm done with my work. I'll officially start work the day after tomorrow."

Which unit were you assigned to?

"The tax bureau where I interned before."

Yu Yin was quite satisfied with this, as it was close to home and didn't involve much work.

"That's good, it's close to home."

"Yes, if you need anything in the future, you can call. It should still be the same number. I'll check after I get to work and then I'll tell you the details."

Yu Yin thought to herself, it's 1981 now, the household contract responsibility system has already begun, and her farm can be put on the agenda.

Yu Yin had no intention of contracting land from farmers; it was too troublesome and the land was too fragmented. She wanted to see which village or suburb had large tracts of wasteland that she could manage slowly.

"Brother Liang, do you know anyone who is familiar with the nearby suburbs or rural areas?"
