Yu Yin went through the same process again.
This time it's not an internship, but a formal job offer.
"Alright, all the formalities are done now. You're officially on the job. Go report to your department."
After receiving the documents from her colleague in the personnel department, Yu Yin thanked her and went to find Director Ding.
"Come in."
"Director Ding, I'm here."
"Xiao Yu, welcome to our team. We hope you will work hard and strive for improvement."
"Thank you, Director. I will."
The same staff were in the department. Sister Wang welcomed them and told Yu Yin where her desk was.
The table was a bit dirty, so Yu Yin wiped it twice with water herself and then went to the logistics department to get some office supplies. Looking at the empty table, Yu Yin decided to bring a potted plant over tomorrow; she had a cactus at home.
I got it by chance, and now it's grown quite big and has produced quite a few baby cacti.
During her internship, Yu Yin had no vested interests with anyone else in the department, and their relationship was neither particularly good nor bad. Only Wei Lan was always making sarcastic remarks. It's unclear how things will be after she officially joins the company.
Yu Yin hoped everything would go smoothly; her ambitions lay elsewhere, and she hoped she wouldn't get caught up in any workplace traps that would leave her exhausted.
Yu Yin has been at work for a week now, and everything is going smoothly; she's adapting quite well.
Lu Shurui also entered the examination room, and the postgraduate entrance examination began.
Yu Yin had never taken the postgraduate entrance exam and didn't know much about it, so she couldn't offer any help. She decided not to cause any trouble and would just wait for the results herself.
While Lu Shurui was busy with her postgraduate entrance exam and interview, Lu Shuqi's wedding date was set for the next day off.
After graduating, Lu Shuqi was assigned to the foreign trade department in the district where Yu Yin lived. It wasn't too far from home, but it required a transfer.
Previously, Auntie San had asked Yu Yin for help, asking Huang Shan's brother to clean the house.
Aunt Lu's family originally had two and a half rooms, but later, influenced by Yu Yin and when their neighbors moved and sold their houses, they bought another room. The three and a half rooms totaled more than 70 square meters, which was considered a fairly spacious residence in Shanghai.
This time, Auntie San was determined and cleaned everything thoroughly, inside and out. Lu Shuqi's bridal chamber occupied one and a half rooms, enough for the young couple to live in. The remaining two rooms were divided into two bedrooms and a living room for entertaining guests.
They also contacted the Zhang family to make some new furniture, giving the place a completely new look inside and out.
Song Wei came to see it once and was very satisfied.
Although her house wasn't small, with three bedrooms and a living room, there were many people in her family. Her two older brothers got married and had children, and the family grew larger and larger. As soon as she got married, someone moved into the rooms immediately. She was genuinely satisfied with Lu Shuqi's house.
The house is all cleaned and the furniture is in place, so there's no issue of letting it air out. Besides, my aunt and uncle cleaned it up more than a month ago.
The day before the wedding, the bride's family came to deliver her dowry, including a Phoenix brand bicycle.
The sewing machine, radio, and watch that Lu Shuqi's family had prepared were also brought back. The bride's family also doted on their daughter; they brought back the betrothal gifts and also gave her a dowry, so both sides were satisfied.
The day before the wedding, Kuai Kuai and Man Man played the role of "bed-rolling children," rolling around on his uncle's new bed. Kuai Kuai found it so enjoyable that he didn't want to come home that night.
On his wedding day, Lu Shuqi and a group of friends rode bicycles, each adorned with a large red flower. The group of over ten bicycles, all dressed in black trousers and white shirts, looked incredibly stylish.
Wang Wenye, Qian He, and Wei Guo also arrived. Wang Wenye was there to report for duty; he had been assigned to a suburban government department in Shanghai, a position he had secured through family connections. Although it was in the suburbs, it wasn't actually far from the city center, located in Pudong.
Yu Yin didn't know if it was a coincidence or what, but Wang Wen's assigned location had a promising future. An international metropolis—that was decades from now; there were still many shortcomings. His family mainly served in the military, so they weren't well-positioned for politics, but his wife's family was involved in politics and had some influence in Shanghai.
Qian Weiguo got a job at a state-owned enterprise, a sinecure, but he was still able to get involved in some core matters.
This time, he came under the guise of an inspection, also wanting to see Sister Yu Yin's shop and attend Shu Qi's wedding. This is a group of fake friends who are just here for the wedding.
The bride wore a long red dress and her hair was styled; the overall style was quite nice. It looked very similar to stills from 1980s dramas that Yu Yin had seen, with red as the dominant color.
Firecrackers crackled as the newlyweds were received.
The wedding was held in the canteen of my third uncle's workplace. There was no rainbow arch, flower corridor, or eloquent master of ceremonies like those in later generations... Weddings in later generations are too formulaic, with the same words spoken and the same sentimental dramas performed.
What Yu Yin remembers most vividly is that the emcee on stage was witty and extremely emotional, but none of the guests were paying attention; they were all eating and drinking. By the time it was the newlyweds' turn to toast, everyone was gone except for the table littered with broken glasses and plates.
Now, everyone is busy watching the new couple, so they don't have time to eat or drink!
Singing revolutionary songs, bowing to portraits of great figures, and couples bowing to each other... the process wasn't complicated, but the deep affection in the newlyweds' eyes was undeniable.
In an era when travel was slow and people loved only one person in their lifetime, they took each other's hands and shared both glory and hardship, facing every aspect of life together.
When it came time for the newlyweds to toast, all the guests were waiting.
Yu Yin's family and Lu Erjie's family sat together. Grandpa and Grandma, Lu Dabo, Lu Xiaogu, Lu's father and mother sat together, and Lu Dage's family was also at the same table.
When Shuqi got married, all the Lu family relatives who were supposed to come arrived. It was the first time Yu Yin had seen so many relatives, and many of them were new to her.
After the party, Yu Yin was going to take Qian Weiguo and Wang Wenye to the store, leaving the children and grandparents with Lu Shurui; they would go back together later.
