Chapter 282 Opening the Kyoto Market

The sun is shining brightly this morning!

After tidying up and having breakfast, Zhong Liang and his group took their sample sausages to meet the department store manager.

"Excuse me, how do I get to the manager's office?" Zhong Liang asked the sales clerk at the counter near the door.

"The fourth floor, at the very back," the sales clerk said casually, then realized her mistake, "What do you want with the manager's office? No, what are you people doing here?"

“We had an appointment with Manager Wei to discuss some business.” Zhong Liang announced Manager Wei’s name, and the saleswoman breathed a sigh of relief. “You can go upstairs now, Manager Wei just went upstairs.”

"Thank you, big sister!" Zhong Liang led a few people upstairs, hoping to finish quickly, as they had other things to do in the afternoon.

Upon reaching the fourth floor, Zhong Liang knocked on the door of the innermost office, which had a sign that read "Manager's Office."

"Please come in!" came a voice from inside, granting permission. Zhong Liang pushed open the door and went in.

“You guys?” A middle-aged man in his fifties stood by the window, wearing old military trousers and a white shirt. He stood upright and held an enamel mug in his hand. Zhong Liang knew that he was a veteran.

"Hello Manager Wei, I am Zhong Liang, the deputy director of Shanghai Green Sprouts Food Factory." Zhong Liang's words and actions also carried the habits of the military.

"You arrived quite quickly, please have a seat."

Manager Wei placed the water glass on his desk, sat down, and made a phone call. "Secretary Hao, pour four cups of tea."

After hanging up the phone, Manager Wei looked at Zhong Liang and his group as they went upstairs. He could tell that Zhong Liang was also a veteran, and he quite liked him.

"Did you bring any samples?" Manager Wei had been asked to look after Green Sprouts Food Factory because of some connections. He initially thought they were relatives of some leader and felt a bit resistant, but now it seemed he had misunderstood.

“I brought them.” Zhong Liang took out their sausages, opened the box, grabbed a handful, got up and placed them on Manager Wei’s desk, then sat back down in his chair.

Manager Wei picked up a sausage, carefully read the product description on the outer packaging, and didn't show much expression on his face.

At that moment, the door opened, and the secretary came in carrying four glasses of water, placing them in front of Zhong Liang and the others.

"Secretary Hao, come and take a look. These are samples of ham sausages sent from Shanghai. Are they safe to eat directly?"

After Manager Wei and Secretary Hao finished speaking, they turned to ask Zhong Liang and the others.

"Yes, bite off one end, peel off the outer skin, and you can eat it directly, or you can stir-fry it, grill it, fry it, you can eat it however you like. Its main ingredient is pork." Zhong Liangping calmly introduced the ways to eat the ham sausage.

Following Zhong Liang's instructions, Secretary Hao and Manager Wei tore open the sausage skin with their teeth, took a bite, and found the texture and taste to be quite good. They could foresee that this product would be easily accepted by everyone, even though the price was a bit expensive.

"Your sausages taste good, are easy to make, and are convenient to carry around. They should sell well... When will the goods arrive?" Manager Wei was a decisive person. Since the product was good, he was ready to put it on the shelves.

"It will arrive tomorrow. We will deliver it directly to you this time, but you will need to pick up the goods yourself for future shipments. As for the rest, this is the plan provided by our factory manager. Please take a look."

Manager Wei took out two agreements written by Sister Yu Yin, and read them carefully.

There were two agreements. One agreement stipulated that the goods would be supplied to the department store at the factory price, but the department store would decide the selling price, and they would also pay for the shipping. The other agreement stated that the products belonged to their food factory, and the department store was essentially renting a counter; the department store had no say in how much they sold.

After reviewing the agreement, Manager Wei felt that the first one was more beneficial to them. This was mainly because he believed in the future prospects of the ham sausage product, and also because their department store did not have any precedents for renting out counter space.

"You're not just planning to target our department store, are you?" Manager Wei had transferred to the department store after leaving the military and worked his way up to the position of manager. He wasn't just some clueless figurehead.

"If we want to open up the Beijing market, we naturally won't just enter one store. We'll contact the others after we finish our product exhibition."

Zhong Liang didn't need to hide anything; let's be frank.

Manager Wei also knew that it was impossible for one company to have a monopoly.

"Don't worry, Manager Wei. Our factory manager has considered it. In the first year, our products will only be sold in one department store or supply and marketing cooperative in each district. After one year, this agreement will be void." Yu Yin wrote this agreement to emulate the regional protection model of chain stores in later generations. Another reason was that she was afraid that the product supply would not be enough, mainly because she was afraid that the supply of live pigs would not keep up.

Finally, Manager Wei and Zhong Liang signed a contract, and the two parties reached a cooperation agreement.

In the afternoon, Zhong Liang and his team rushed to check the location of the event, discussed the work process after the products arrived, and purchased the necessary tools. By the time everything was ready, it was already evening. The group had a simple meal and went back to rest.

The next day, Qian Weiguo arrived with a truck, and together they went to the train station to pick up the goods. They delivered the products from the department store, and after Manager Wei received them, he promised to transfer the payment to their factory's account that afternoon.

In the afternoon, Zhong Liang, accompanied by Qian Weiguo, delivered several boxes of ham sausages to several families designated by Yu Yin, so that they could have a taste.

That evening, the families who received the sausages all thought of Yu Yin. They hadn't seen her in a long time and missed her dearly. They decided to go to their promotional event the next day to see if there was anything they could do to help.

Back at the guesthouse, Zhong Liang was overwhelmed with emotion. She hadn't expected that Sister Yu Yin knew so many people in Beijing. Not to mention, the small white building in the military compound in Beijing wasn't a place that just anyone could get close to!
