After Yu Yin and the others left, Yu Jun and his elder brother did not rest, but talked in the study.
"Brother, I won't go into how Mom has treated Yin Yin all these years, but this time, she's still scheming against Yin Yin like this. I really don't understand. They're all her own children, so why is she treating them differently? I really don't get it."
Yu Jun had been protecting Yu Yin for so many years that it had become a habit, so he couldn't understand his mother's actions. How could she do this just because Yin Yin was slow to react when she was little, making her feel ashamed?
"I don't know either. I haven't done anything trustworthy with Yinyin. The reason she's still willing to associate with us today isn't because I'm her older brother, but because of your sister-in-law. I have that much self-awareness."
Brother Yu is very clear-headed now. Wei Mingyue is in charge of everything at home, and he just follows orders. Interpersonal relationships aren't his forte, so he focuses on what he's good at, so as not to hold his wife back.
The two brothers talked for half the night in the study, and when they woke up the next day, their eyes were sore and uncomfortable.
"Yinyin and the others will come over after they finish breakfast. Let's eat first. I bought steamed buns, tofu pudding, fried dough sticks, and soy milk. Help yourselves to whatever you want." Aunt Yu and Anze went out to buy breakfast early in the morning. It's so convenient now; you can buy whatever you want to eat as long as you have money.
Yu Yin and her friends had a hearty breakfast at the hotel before leisurely making their way to Brother Yu's house.
"Shurui, I'm going to the hospital for a bit. You stay home with the kids. They're not familiar with this area, and I don't feel comfortable letting them go out on their own." Yu Yin's biggest worry was the children; nothing else mattered.
“I’m not comfortable with you going alone. Why don’t you let them stay at home and I’ll go with you?” Lu Shurui knew Yu’s mother well; she had a sharp tongue and could insult people without batting an eye.
"Wow, Comrade Lu Shurui, you're not afraid of Comrade Wei Hong anymore?" Yu Yin now recalled how embarrassed Lu Shurui was when he first woke up, unable to utter a single word after being scolded by Comrade Wei Hong.
“It’s okay to be scared, I can overcome it. I have to stand with you.” Lu Shurui refused to compromise and insisted on standing with Yu Yin.
Even after entering Brother Yu's house, Yu Yin couldn't persuade Lu Shurui. Finally, after An'an made several promises that they would stay at her uncle's house and not leave, Yu Yin finally approved Lu Shurui's request to go with them. She genuinely felt it was unnecessary; it wasn't like going through fire and water, there was no need to be so apprehensive.
Yu Jun and his wife, Yu's elder brother and sister-in-law, along with Yu Yin and her husband, a group of six, quickly arrived at the hospital.
"Young man, why don't you and your older brother go to the attending physician and ask what's going on? With the current medical conditions, is organ transplant surgery even possible?" Yu Yin wasn't familiar with the current level of medical care. She remembered that decades later, organ transplants were not an easy procedure and there were too many unexpected complications.
"Okay, I understand. You guys go to the ward first. Don't talk to them too much. Just come and see if that's the gist of it. Tomorrow, just go about your business as usual." If Yu Jun wasn't worried about what others would say, he wouldn't want Yu Yin to come. It would only lead to arguments and nothing more.
"I know, brother. Worrying makes you age faster. In a few years, we'll be the next generation." Yu Yin thought her brother was too anxious, so she made a joke to ease the tense atmosphere.
Yu Qing had already arrived at the ward. Her job was relatively easy; she just had to clock in every day.
Mr. Yu came over today; he wanted to ask the doctor what exactly happened.
"Dad, you're here early today!" Sister-in-law Yu greeted her father.
"You've all come?" Father Yu saw Yu Yin and Bai Xiaoyu. It had been a long time since he'd seen them, especially Yu Yin, who hadn't been seen for several years.
"Yu Yin and Shu Rui have also come. Are there many people on the bus? Are the children all well?" Yu's father looked at his youngest daughter, who hadn't changed much. She seemed to be doing well, looking young, with no trace of sorrow on her face.
"Everything is fine, but you look so haggard. If you're not feeling well, you should hire a caregiver. Otherwise, the old lady might be fine, but you'll be worn out."
Looking at her father, who looked much older, Yu Yin knew that taking care of a paralyzed patient was extremely tiring!
"It's alright. The old lady doesn't have many days left. She doesn't like outsiders."
Mr. Yu didn't want to continue the topic; this had nothing to do with the children, he still had his brothers.
Seeing the group talking so enthusiastically without even glancing at her, Yu's mother was furious.
"Are you here to see a patient or to chat?" Mother Yu glared at Yu Yin and the others, especially staring at Yu Yin. She was surprised that Yu Yin hadn't changed much over the years, and her appearance had become even more outstanding.
Many people in the entertainment industry say that fame makes one look better, meaning that fame naturally improves one's complexion. Yu Yin has been living a good life these past few years, with both her family and career on the rise. She looks very composed, has a good complexion, and appears young.
"Mom, we were just worried you'd get tired, so we thought we'd ask the doctor later," said Sister-in-law Yu, protecting Yu Yin.
"Oh my, my sister-in-law is different now. She earns more money, stands up straight, and talks to our mother very perfunctorily."
Yu Qing's tone was sharp and sarcastic, and her originally pleasant face became repulsive.
This was the first time Yu Yin had seen Yu Qing face-to-face; before that, she only had impressions of her from memory.
Well, overall, Yu Qing is prettier than Yu Yin. She's taller than Yu Yin, has big, double-lidded eyes, and must have been stunningly beautiful when she was younger. Even now, in her thirties, she doesn't look old. The only drawback is her face; it looks a bit harsh.
Meanwhile, Yu Qing was also staring at Yu Yin, her younger sister whom she hadn't seen for over ten years. She couldn't even remember what Yu Yin used to look like. Because Yu Yin used to be silly and always had her head down and her chest hunched, she couldn't even remember whether Yu Yin was round or flat anymore.
The woman in front of me looked to be under thirty, with great skin and a simple makeup look. She exuded an air of refinement and elegance.
This was a Yu Yin who was completely unfamiliar to Yu Qing. If they hadn't met at the hospital, but instead on the street, Yu Qing would never have recognized her as Yu Yin, that little fool who couldn't even speak properly. Yu Qing's heart ached terribly, as if she had been hit with a hammer.
Yu Yin had come with the intention of watching the spectacle, and didn't pay much attention to the people inside. Whether it was her mother lying in the hospital bed or Yu Qing with her constantly changing expressions, she didn't care much.
But the young man couldn't get away until this matter was resolved, so she just watched the show and didn't get involved or take responsibility for how things were actually done.
Lying in her hospital bed, Yu's mother didn't know whether getting to this point was right or wrong. But she didn't want to care; she wanted to live, to live well. Therefore, she wouldn't let Yu Yin go; she had to hold on tight!
The people in the ward had different thoughts and didn't seem like a family at all!
