After reading the letter, I realized it was a consolation prize. Brother Yu wrote to his younger brother, recounting what he had seen and heard, without bias, and truthfully.
In his letter, the younger brother told her not to care about her mother's attitude, that she was already a mother of two and didn't need to call her "Mom" all the time. He said he would always be his sister's support, his family, and would never abandon her.
