The two left the Lu family home one after the other, and Lu Shurui jogged all the way to catch up with Yu Yin.
"You didn't even wait for me, you just ran off."
He grabbed Yu Yin's hand, their fingers intertwined, and said, "Where can you run now?"
"Aren't you afraid your mom will say you've forgotten her after you got married? I'm giving you a chance so you won't regret it later."
“My mother has several other children she cares about besides me, but you and the children only have me.”
Yes, your understanding is clear, there's still hope.
The two chatted and laughed as they headed to Lu Erjie's house, unaware that the Lu family was facing a turbulent period of turmoil.
"Lu Shujin, get up quickly and take the child home. What a mess this is! If I had known it would turn out like this, I shouldn't have brought the child here and let him hear something."
Brother Lu was also feeling down. He finally had a day off to get the family together, but why did so many things happen?
“Dad, Mom, let’s go back first. We should ask about the rest of the things. Dad, don’t try to downplay the family’s problems by thinking that we shouldn’t air our dirty laundry in public. Otherwise, Shu Rui will really become estranged from the family.”
Brother Lu and his wife left with their child. This time, Mother Lu wasn't so stubborn, and Sister-in-law Lu, who was good at managing the household, didn't act like a mother-in-law anymore. What a blatant double standard! And this is supposed to be a teacher? She has flaws even in her own character.
Brother Lu is gone, but Sister Lu and Lu Shukang can't leave.
“Mengyao, I’ll go see your parents tomorrow and we’ll talk about this. You should reflect on what you did wrong. Lu Shumin, if you can’t change your temper, then take the child and leave. We don’t need another troublemaker like you.”
"How can you say that about Shumin? She's had a tough time too, and..."
"If you're going to go somewhere where right and wrong are so indiscriminate, then you should leave too."
The father was greatly provoked and lost his former scholarly upbringing, resorting to vulgar language.
Leaving behind a few incredulous people, Lu's father went inside.
They finally managed to get everyone together, and now it's turned out they might as well not have come back at all. Father Lu also blamed Yu Yin and the other woman; neither of them were easy to deal with, neither of them were kind.
"Pingping, An'an, Mom and Dad are here."
Yu Yin and her brother entered their second sister's house. Ping An and An An had already eaten and drunk their fill and were playing with Zhuang Zhuang.
"Have you eaten? Oh dear, I'm sure you haven't. You two eat first, we'll talk later."
"Thank you, Second Sister. I am indeed a bit hungry."
Yu Yin wasn't actually very hungry; she had eaten a bowl of noodles before coming. However, she was still grateful for her second sister's thoughtfulness.
Without saying any unnecessary words, we quickly finished our meal. It was getting late, and we had to go back to the guesthouse soon. Fortunately, it wasn't far from here.
"What exactly happened?"
As soon as Yu Yin and her husband put down their chopsticks, the second sister couldn't wait to ask.
Yu Yin remained silent, and Lu Shurui recounted what had happened before.
"I really didn't expect Wang Mengyao to do something like this. Lu Shuxin has also lost her mind, she can't tell the difference between inside and outside, and she's even helping outsiders scheme against her own family. Don't associate with her anymore, she's not worth it for someone who would abandon all principles for a little bit of profit."
The second sister knew that her mother was biased, and she had become numb to it. After getting married, she rarely went back to her parents' home.
In the last two years, when I went back home, I mostly delivered the things Shu Rui sent them. Now it seems that I can save myself the trouble of doing that, as Yu Yin will no longer send anything to her mother.
I don't want to think about it anymore; it's upsetting.
"Yu Yin, how was your trip to the old Huai Kingdom today?"
"Oh, don't even mention it, there were so many people, I couldn't find anything, I was being swept along by them, almost trampled my shoes off."
This was the excuse Yu Yin had come up with; otherwise, she wouldn't be able to explain herself. She had gone to Huaiguo twice under the pretext of buying nothing, which wouldn't make sense.
"I'll take you tomorrow, I'm off work. It's my first time there, I'm totally overwhelmed, lots of people, lots of goods, lots of stalls."
With her second sister's endorsement, Yu Yin was finally able to properly explore the legendary Huai Kingdom.
With Pingping and An'an, who were about to fall asleep, Yu Yin and the others returned to the guesthouse.
"I was so tired from playing that I fell asleep in no time."
"Um, I'm sorry about what happened today. My family went a bit too far."
"It's alright, it was bound to happen sooner or later, I was prepared. It's just that I feel a little bad that it caused a rift between you and your family."
Yu Yin spoke kindly, explaining that she had no intention of divorcing him now, so why take her anger out on Lu Shurui? He was quite pitiful; although he was her son, he hadn't received any preferential treatment.
"What are you thinking? You know my relationship with my family. Apart from my second sister, there's no one else I can really talk to. I just pretended not to hear before, not wanting to make a fuss and trying to cover things up. It's fine this way now. After talking it out, I feel much more relaxed."
It was late at night, and the two of them didn't say much before falling asleep.
"Yu Yin, let Shu Rui and your second brother-in-law stay home and take care of the children. Let's go."
"Okay, I'll go with my second sister today."
"Just you wait and see, I'll show you what Second Sister is capable of."
The two left, chatting and laughing, leaving behind two grown men and four children.
"Over here, they sell defective fabrics, sailor shirts, leather shoes, and the like. Over there, they sell watches, cameras, and other valuables."
"Do you need a ticket for the camera?"
Yu Yin perked up when she heard about cameras. She had always wanted to buy one to take photos as souvenirs, but she hadn't been able to because she didn't have a ticket.
"There are tickets available, but they're a bit pricey."
"I'll take a look later. If the price isn't too outrageous, I'll buy one to take pictures of my child so they can look at them when they're older."
"Okay, I'll take a look in a bit."
The two of them started shopping: large bed sheets, small sailor shirts, patched fabrics, scarves, shoes... Yu Yin bought a lot of things she thought she might use in the future. Who knows when she'd buy them again? She wasn't worried about storing so many things.
