Chapter 33 The Three Earthly Immortals
Guan Zhiwei walked out of the house, cursing.
"Did Xiao Guan quarrel with her husband?" Madam Feng was cooking a big pot of rice in the courtyard, and Yan Chunsheng was helping her by tending the fire.
As Dogtooth chopped firewood, he thought to himself, "She's having another episode."
Hei Lao Er processed the meat piece by piece, quite tired. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, "Si Lang is such a good person. What was he saying again? Wen? Anyway, he won't argue with Xiao Guan."
Dogtooth snorted, "I don't think that damn Fourth Brother is any good. Why would a rich and powerful family need to come out and find a doctor? Just posting a notice would be enough. Why is he staying here? It's so weird."
"Shh, keep your voice down, don't let those soldiers hear you." Madam Feng was still wary of those soldiers in armor.
Because a noble person moved in, the noble person provided for all their needs, including food, clothing, and lodging. While they enjoyed a good life, they also had to endure the soldiers that the noble person brought with them.
These soldiers were well-trained and did not bother them on weekdays. They would go into the mountains to train during the day and return to sleep at night, so they rarely saw each other. Sometimes they would even bring back some game to eat as an extra meal.
But it is still a wild animal, and it can be frightening even through a cage.
Dogtooth had something on his mind that he couldn't suppress. He put down what he was doing, quickly ran up to him, and whispered, "Xiao Guan, I think Gao Silang has ulterior motives towards you."
How did you know?
"He's a man, and you're a woman. What's the meaning of him always talking to you like this?"
This guy has ulterior motives. Guan Zhiwei subconsciously glanced at the panel; her charm value was zero.
"Don't worry, he just wants to kill me." She brushed the dog tooth away dismissively. "He's always coughing, go get him some honey to soothe his throat."
"I can only get hot water, not honey."
"Then go boil some water."
Dogtooth left with a heavy expression that said, "Those two are definitely up to something."
Guan Zhiwei sent Gouya away because when she opened the panel, she discovered something surprising: the corruption value was already ninety.
Two male protagonists died one after another, plus Gao Huan died seven times, which makes sense.
"Does killing the male protagonist count as turning evil?"
[That's right, if I kill Gao Huan one more time, I'll have a hundred, and then I can begin the revenge-driven female protagonist arc.]
Guan Zhiwei: "..."
She always felt that the system treated her like a breeding sow, and obviously it didn't treat Gao Huan as a human being either. The root cause was that it wasn't a human being at all!
"Everyone has wronged you. You will stand on the moral high ground and destroy everyone." The system said in a seductive tone.
Guan Zhiwei asked in confusion, "What's the difference between now and now?"
If you kill someone now, people will think you're ruthless, cruel, and terrifying. But if you stand on the moral high ground, it's different; killing becomes a symbol of bravery and intelligence. This is called having a just cause, which helps satisfy your sense of innocence.
Guan Zhiwei rolled her eyes dramatically: "If it's too salty, go drink some water; if you want to play on the swings, go hang yourself; if you want to be an idiot, just stay the same."
"Ugh, if you want to flirt, go find the male lead. Don't keep calling me 'little fool.'" The system suddenly blushed.
Guan Zhiwei felt a chill run down her spine, as if thousands of ants were crawling all over her body at once. She felt disgusted and got goosebumps. Without saying a word, she mounted her horse and rode up the mountain.
She planned to clear her head and maybe pick up some honey to take home.
As a result, the horse's neighing attracted wild animals.
It's a tiger.
"Roar—" The tiger's roar sent chills down one's spine.
The air and the leaves on the ground vibrated; the sound of the tiger's roar was not in my ears, but it gave my heart a jolt.
Guan Zhiwei grabbed the tiger's head and pounded it with her fists until the nausea in her heart finally disappeared.
The horse was terrified of the dead tiger and refused to carry it no matter what; its legs were trembling.
Guan Zhiwei had no choice but to release the horse; it knew how to find its way home on its own.
She dragged her spoils back to the village; they were heavy, weighing five or six hundred pounds.
It was dark and most people were asleep. A few neighbors who came out to urinate saw someone dragging a tiger down the street and they all gaped, rubbed their eyes hard, and slapped themselves twice.
"It must be a dream, it must be a dream!"
Late at night, Guan Zhiwei knocked on the door.
The house built under Gao Huan's supervision was very sturdy, shaped like the Chinese character "回" (hui), and occupied the entire courtyard, protecting privacy. One could only enter and exit through a single door.
A small gatehouse was built next to the gate, where soldiers usually slept. But today, Guan Zhiwei had gone out and hadn't returned, so Hei Lao Er and Gou Ya occupied the small house to wait for her to come back.
Hearing the knocking noise, Dogtooth hurriedly came to open the door.
"ah!"
The loud noise startled everyone.
Fortunately, the soldiers were still awake; otherwise, such a scream could have caused an uproar.
Everyone came out.
Upon seeing the large tiger, Madam Feng dropped the oil lamp she was holding, completely stunned.
Dog Tooth, his mouth dry, kept saying, "My God, my God! I was so scared! I thought the tiger had come to life. She was carrying the tiger on her back, and the tiger's head was resting on her head!"
Guan Zhiwei entered the courtyard and threw the tiger away. A-Tu, being mischievous, climbed onto the dead tiger. With a sudden tug, the tiger's head twitched slightly, and A-Tu was terrified, crying out, "Mommy! The tiger's alive! The tiger's alive!"
Yan Chunsheng picked up his son and saw that he hadn't wet his pants. He was quite brave, considering his son was about to wet his pants.
The second brother roared, "Little Guan, you actually killed a tiger!"
Even the soldiers crowded around to look and touch it.
"Can you kill a tiger?"
Give me two knives, and I can give it a try.
Stop bragging!
"The tiger's skin wasn't torn at all. It wasn't killed by high-powered weapons; it was killed by hand!"
"Don't even mention killing a tiger with your bare hands. That tiger is so heavy, I couldn't even drag it back by myself!"
"Lieutenant Liu, are you sure you can handle this?!"
Liu Quanxi, who had just been promoted to captain, wanted to maintain his authority. He coughed and scolded, "Go to sleep! Today's drills weren't too tiring for you bunch of bastards, but we'll double the workload tomorrow!"
"Ah—" A deafening sound echoed for a moment.
The commotion in the courtyard was too great. Gao Huan looked out the window and saw two lanterns hanging on his windowsill that had been burning all night. In the candlelight, his already pale face looked like a sheet of paper, even his lips were bloodless.
Guan Zhiwei felt his gaze, looked up, met his eyes, and smiled at him in a friendly manner.
"If we hunt another deer, we can eat the three delicacies of the earth."
It's not the modern Northeastern dish "Di San Xian" (a stir-fry of potatoes, peppers, and eggplant).
These are the three earthly immortals from before 1988: tiger, bear, and deer.
Gao Huan felt a pang of bitterness in his heart; his life was over.
