Chapter 140 I Don't Want Her
The green light of the fireflies shone on Guan Zhiwei's face, and Gao Huan's heart pounded wildly.
"I suddenly feel that there is such a perfect person as His Majesty in the world. Two eyebrows, two eyes, one nose, one mouth, and five fingers, no more and no less."
"If you don't have anything to say to praise me, then don't praise me. I guess my charm is working."
Guan Zhiwei casually opened the interface. Her charm was full, her strength was full, her corruption was full, her luck was 0, and surprisingly, her intelligence had increased.
When did it grow? And why did it grow? She didn't notice.
She fell into deep thought.
For Gao Huan, it was like His Majesty was speaking when the power suddenly went out.
He felt as if an invisible barrier had suddenly separated the two of them.
"His Majesty!"
"Huh?" Guan Zhiwei came back to her senses.
Gao Huan said nonchalantly, "Your Majesty is not lying to me, is he? Everyone says that in the last month of summer... when the warm wind first arrives, crickets dwell on the walls, eagles begin to learn, and decaying grass turns into fireflies."
Guan Zhiwei thought to herself, even Gao Huan believed that rotten grass could give birth to fireflies, which is the limitation of the times.
"Fireflies are born from firefly mothers."
To make her words more believable, she took his hand and led him to the riverbank to look for firefly eggs.
"Is that so?" he exclaimed in amazement.
Guan Zhiwei stood with her hands on her hips, looking very proud: "I know a lot, don't I?"
Gao Huan lowered his eyes and quietly watched the fireflies float from his hand. He said softly, "But I still like the saying that decaying grass turns into fireflies. It proves that life is endless, things change and transform, and death is not the end, but the beginning of another form of life."
Guan Zhiwei frowned: "Just end it already, all I can think about is ending it. Crack! The sky splits open, the world is destroyed!"
Gao Huan looked at her.
She suddenly laughed: "I hate people, men, women, old people, children, transgender people, cats, dogs, snakes, earthworms, lizards, everything that can breathe and doesn't breathe, as well as flowers, trees, mountains and rivers, tables, chairs, bowls and chopsticks. I hope everything in this world is destroyed. But I also hope that you are the last one to die."
She stretched out her hand, and fireflies flitted between her fingers. She smiled happily and devoutly.
"With the fireflies in the sky as my witness, I hope Gao Huan lives to be a hundred years old."
Gao Huan took a deep breath. Perhaps he shouldn't be too harsh on Zhi Junyuan. Who could stand this kind of treatment?
"Your Majesty, if you really want to kill me, just tie an iron block to my foot and throw me into the river. It won't even take a night for me to die," he earnestly suggested.
Guan Zhiwei looked at him with a bewildered expression: "Why would I kill you?"
Gao Huan thought to herself, "How would I know? But this whole thing you're doing is really terrifying."
He couldn't hold back, and tears streamed down his face.
"Your Majesty, I'm starting to miss the days when we first met."
"I also miss your initial rebelliousness."
Gao Huan wiped her tears with her sleeve. "That's because I haven't accepted life yet."
Guan Zhiwei raised an eyebrow: "You've accepted it now?"
Gao Huan sighed and said, "With my abilities, I have already reached the pinnacle. I have no regrets. So if Your Majesty wants to kill me, I will have no complaints."
"I won't kill you, I've already said I won't kill you, why would I kill you for no reason?"
"His Majesty!"
Guan Zhiwei scratched her head. "I just want to start a new life. I don't want to dwell on the past anymore. I want to begin a new chapter in my life and cherish every day from now on."
"Don't you want to go home?"
"I'm not going back. My mom is a very strong woman; she probably won't miss me."
Guan Zhiwei touched her nose. "I don't miss her either."
Gao Huan didn't believe it, but he had no choice; the emperor had said so, so he had to believe it.
Whether you believe it or not, it doesn't really matter.
Guan Zhiwei has her own rhythm.
She implemented government policies in the imperial court and spread warmth in the harem. Holding Gao Huan's hand, she said, "With you here, it feels like I have a home."
She was busy every day, but she was quite happy. It was as if the clouds and fog in her life had suddenly cleared.
Even Liu Liu said that His Majesty seemed to have rejuvenated like a willow tree.
Guan Zhi smiled and said, "This is all due to the power of love."
She's been using this word a lot lately, and she's even inquired about other people's relationship status.
How's your relationship going?
Nan Nan and Liu Liu were both flattered and speechless, exchanging glances.
Guan Zhiwei asked, "What's wrong? Can't you tell me?"
Liu Liu replied, "Of course I can talk about it, but I didn't expect His Majesty to care about us. I was so shocked that I didn't know what to say."
Guan Zhiwei raised an eyebrow and asked, "What are you saying? That I've been bad to you?"
Guan Nannan quickly said, "Okay, okay, His Majesty doesn't put on airs with us, but he doesn't seem to care much about our lives."
Guan Zhiwei thought about it for a moment, and it seemed to be true.
It's not just this way towards them.
She treats everyone the same.
She never interferes in other people's lives, dislikes taking on too much responsibility and making decisions for others, and doesn't think that just because she's lived a long life and has a lot of experience, she can give unsolicited advice on other people's lives.
Respect other people's choices. She is a free person, and so are everyone else.
When they come to her for help, she'll decide whether to extend her hands and catch them, depending on her mood. What's the point of living if you do nothing? Wouldn't that be like being dead?
She wanders through this world with a profound yet detached attitude, as if she is neither alive nor dead and doesn't care about anything.
She sighed, "But I'm still human. I'll be sad when someone dies."
"—You are dead, and I am heartbroken." Liu Liu said boldly, "I think that for Your Majesty, the important thing is not that you are dead, but that I am heartbroken. I am heartbroken, so I must do something to comfort myself."
Guan Zhiwei was surprised that her words hit the nail on the head, and scratched her head awkwardly: "My attention to the outside world is so shallow."
Liu Liu changed the subject, saying, "But now it's different. His Majesty seems to have suddenly come alive, as if a layer of brilliant color has been applied to him. We can all feel the change in you. You used to be a highly accomplished monk who only cared about cultivating himself, but now you have become a Buddha and come to save all sentient beings."
Guan Zhiwei stroked her chin. "I am a Taoist. Our two religious beliefs are different."
Liu Liu quickly said, "You used to be a Taoist immortal who only cared about cultivating yourself, but now you have become an immortal. You still come here to save all living beings."
"You're being suspicious with your sweet talk," Guan Zhiwei said. "You must have something to gain, right?"
Liu Liu's cultivation wasn't quite up to par yet, and her face flushed immediately. But seeing that Guan Zhiwei was in a good mood, she mustered her courage and said, "I would like to ask Your Majesty for help."
She said that Jiang Shuzheng had recently encountered some difficulties.
