Chapter 65 The young master has passed away; he should be laid to rest as soon as possible.

In less than half an incense stick's time, the baby's skin in the swaddling clothes had turned grayish-white.

The color drained from Liu's face instantly. She picked up her child in terror, shaking him and crying out, "My darling, don't scare your mother, don't scare your mother!"

"Sister actually... actually gave birth to a stillborn child!" Aunt Zhao pointed at the child in Liu's arms, took a half step back, and seemed to be shocked as well.

Master Wang's eyes widened in horror. "Impossible! How could it be stillborn? I clearly heard my son crying just now. His voice was so loud, so strong. He was clearly a powerful boy. How could he be stillborn! My son! My son!"

Aunt Zhao ran to the bedside and reached out to check the breath of the child in Liu's arms. To her surprise, the child was indeed not breathing at all!

She was so excited that her hands were shaking, and she had to bite her back teeth to keep herself from laughing.

It's truly heaven's help to her!

“He…” Liu’s eyes filled with tears, wanting to ask but not daring to ask.

Aunt Zhao withdrew her hand, lowered her eyes, and shook her head. "Sister, the eldest young master is no longer breathing. He's gone! You should hand the child over to the servants and let them handle it!"

After saying this, Madam Liu gave her personal maid a wink.

The maid immediately stepped forward to take Liu's child, but Liu refused to let anyone take the child away from her. She held her child tightly, tears streaming down her face.

"No, no, you're lying to me! You're all lying to me!"

One second he was overjoyed, the next he was struck by lightning. Master Wang couldn't accept the result either. He grabbed Liu Mama and roared, "What happened? Tell me what happened? How could my wife give birth to a stillborn child? You must have killed my son!"

"Master Wang, calm down!" Shen Yuan tried to stop Granny Liu, but was pushed away by Master Wang.

Granny Liu was nearly pulled to the ground by Master Wang, but her gaze remained fixed on the child in Madam Liu's arms. Her aged face was tense, as if she was thinking about something.

Just then, the doorman's voice came from outside: "Master, Aunt Zhao, Midwife Wang from the east of the city has arrived!"

After saying this, Wang the midwife lifted the curtain and stepped into the room.

"The child is gone, what use is a midwife now? Throw her out! Throw her out!" Master Wang was so angry that his face turned red and his neck bulged. He was furious and disliked everyone.

Aunt Zhao stood up and advised, "Midwife Wang has been delivering babies for many years and is very experienced. Why don't we let her come in and see if this child can still be saved!"

Upon hearing this, Liu's hope was instantly rekindled. "Quickly, invite them in! In!"

Midwife Wang had already reached the bedside. Receiving the message from Aunt Zhao's eyes, she reached out and picked up the child from Liu's arms, then lifted the swaddling blanket and patted the child's feet.

She patted very loudly, but Liu's child did not react at all.

Midwife Wang checked Liu's baby's breath and felt the baby's temperature again, and finally shook her head gently, just like Aunt Zhao.

"Master, Madam, this child is born with congenital defects; premature babies rarely survive. If I had arrived at your residence sooner to help Madam with the pregnancy, I might have been able to save the young master, but alas..."

Wang the midwife let out a long sigh.

This sigh was like a gavel used by the judge of the underworld, striking Liu's heart with deafening force, making her feel cold all over and her blood freeze instantly.

Finally, she could no longer hold on, vomited a mouthful of blood, and burst into tears while holding her child.

She had been married for ten years and had longed for this child for ten years. Finally, by the grace of heaven, she became pregnant. She didn't ask for a boy or a girl, she only hoped that the child could be born safely.

Whatever she was born with was a gift from God.

But why did she give birth to a stillborn child?

Does God despise her so much? Why play such a cruel trick on someone so devoted to her mother?

Why would they rather give countless children to irresponsible people who don't raise their own children than grant her even one? Why?

Liu cried her heart out.

Master Wang watched with a heavy heart, longing for a child of his own with Lady Liu! They were husband and wife!

"Master, Madam, please accept my condolences. The young master is still cold. Let him rest in peace as soon as possible!" Aunt Zhao said with red eyes.

But Liu and Wang ignored her words; they could not accept the fact that their child was gone.

Aunt Zhao took a handkerchief, wiped away imaginary tears from the corners of her eyes, and said, "Young Master died unjustly! It was all Liu the Midwife's fault!"

Upon hearing Aunt Zhao's words, Master Wang's face instantly lit up. He glared angrily at Granny Liu and shouted outside, "Guards, tie up this old woman who killed the young master! I want her to pay for my son's life!"

At Master Wang's command, the servants in the mansion immediately rushed in with clubs, intending to subdue Granny Liu.

"I originally didn't want my grandma to take this job from you. It was you who kept asking my grandma. Have you forgotten all the promises you made?"

“My grandmother took on this job because she saw that Madam Liu’s pregnancy was in danger and was afraid that she would have a difficult childbirth due to the large size of her pregnancy. Is this how you take advantage of her kindness?”

Shen Yuan shielded Granny Liu tightly behind her.

Xiao Ling drew his long sword and stopped the servants who were about to rush forward.

Upon hearing Shen Yuan's words, Madam Liu's eyes trembled slightly. It was true that Granny Liu was unwilling to deliver her baby back then, and it was she who visited her three times to persuade her to come back.

It was also Granny Liu who told her that the fetus in her womb was too big and advised her to control her diet and exercise more, saying that it would be good for the child.

During labor, it was Granny Liu who taught her how to use her strength skillfully so that she could give birth to the child without suffering too much. When she was almost exhausted, it was Granny Liu who gently comforted her and encouraged her, giving her the confidence to give birth to the child.

Thinking of all this, Madam Liu's gaze softened a bit when she looked at Granny Liu.

Before she could say anything, Aunt Zhao interrupted, "You say your grandmother is kind-hearted, but I think she's clearly harboring malicious intentions and deliberately trying to harm the madam and young master!"

Hearing this, Madam Liu lowered her eyes and glanced at the silent child in her arms, but ultimately said nothing.

"What are you all standing there for?! Take all three of them down and throw them into the pond to feed the fish!" Master Wang roared.

The servants, having received their orders, picked up clubs and began to smash Shen Yuan and Granny Liu.

Just then, Granny Liu suddenly remembered something and shouted, "Young Master isn't dead! He's just fainted! Let me try, I know how to save him!"
