Chapter 1 First Encounter

Chapter 1 First Encounter

"No! Please don't do this! Please..."

"Goodbye, Wei You."

"!!!"

ah.

Yu Weiyou woke up from her dream again.

midnight.

The cacophony of voices faded away, leaving only a desolate silence, so quiet that the whole world seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep. The fan continued its clattering, sending a faint breeze of cool air from a distance. Only Yu Weiyou sat there, lost in thought, her gaze piercing through the darkness, fixed on an unknown direction.

In the early morning, the wind on the rooftop was as alluring and unsettling as ever. Yu Weiyou stood quietly by the railing, feeling her heart still beating with the passage of time, each beat clear and fragile, as if telling her that she was still alive in this world.

He did not die.

"Oh? That's unusual, girl, skipping class today?" A flippant voice interrupted Yu Weiyou's daze.

She turned around calmly, as if she hadn't heard him, and walked away, brushing past his shoulder.

"Hey, don't go." The person grabbed Yu Weiyou and whispered in her ear, "Don't be so heartless every time, oh ho ho, oh ho... my feet hurt so much, ouch!"

Amidst gasps of surprise, Yu Weiyou walked through the path cleared by the few people who had always followed him, and left without a trace of emotion.

Those people are probably used to it by now.

The reason such scenes can happen is that in these welfare facilities, no one cares whether orphans are attending classes or not. It's good enough if they're alive, and it might not matter if they die... but it's best if they don't die, because the facility doesn't want to waste money on collecting their corpses.

Okay. Actually, it's not that bad.

To put it simply, this is a school that operates under the guise of a welfare institution. While more than half of its students are boarders, meaning it's not entirely a welfare organization, the students here generally come from disadvantaged backgrounds. They are mostly drawn to the school because of the welfare subsidies and relatively low tuition fees.

To put it bluntly, it's because those students have parents, and perhaps because they at least paid tuition. In short, teachers only pay a little more attention to students whose parents have paid tuition. As for other things, as long as they don't cause any major trouble, they can do whatever they want.

Children who have no one to supervise them have probably all envied the life of having teachers and family to take care of them, and Yu Weiyou was no exception. What would it be like to always have someone looking after you? She didn't know, and she didn't want to know anymore, besides, she was no longer a child.

She understood the道理 (principles/reasons), but if she didn't pay attention to herself, she would definitely continue to wallow in this decadence. She didn't want that, she didn't want to be decadent, and she certainly wouldn't skip class. So, Yu Weiyou only enjoyed the breeze on the rooftop for a while before going back to class with her books.

On the surface, she says she needs to take care of herself, but in reality, Yu Weiyou has almost forgotten why she's still holding onto her original aspirations. The light she's been longing for for so many years has now become blurred. Sometimes she wonders, even if she finally leaves this place after she grows up, can she truly escape the shadow that has lingered in her heart for so many years? Will the things she's always held onto truly come true? The answer is probably no.

"Ahem, did everyone understand? This is a composition we often use in shooting. Feel free to try shooting on your own. You don't necessarily have to follow the rigid framework. Try to get a feel for it, and you might discover some surprises outside the framework," the teacher said, pointing to the picture on the screen.

...

"That concludes our lesson. get out of class dismissed."

As soon as Yu Weiyou came out of the back door of the classroom after class, she was surrounded by several delinquent girls.

"Look at this, isn't this our dear dead fish eyes? You still dream of becoming a famous fashion designer or model? Don't you even know your own worth? Do you think you're worthy of attending a photography class?"

She inevitably encounters this group of people several times a day, and the shoving and pushing among them is commonplace. In any case, it doesn't matter whether Yu Weiyou ignores them or fights back and knocks them to the ground; she'll still see them the next day, and it'll just be another repetition.

"..." Unfortunately, Yu Weiyou wasn't in a good mood today. She simply raised her hand, slapped the books across their faces a few times, and then walked away.

Unfortunately, the girls also seemed to be in a bad mood today. The girl who had been left behind angrily pulled Yu Weiyou back, and another girl pushed her, causing Yu Weiyou to lose her balance and fall to the ground.

The punk girl, seething with anger, stepped forward, rolled up her sleeves, and spat in the woman's face: "I'm going to fight you today!"

Despite being at a disadvantage, Yu Weiyou remained calm and composed. Her expressionless face always seemed to exude a stubbornness that was both infuriating and endearing, while her perpetually slightly red eyes made her appear somewhat pitiful and easy to bully.

"...Ahem." The teacher, who had just come out of the front door, saw this scene as soon as he looked up. He paused for a second, but still walked over.

Seeing this, the girls' arrogance vanished instantly, and they slunk away quietly like chickens.

Then, a hand was stretched out in front of Yu Weiyou.

She ignored the owner of the hand, picked up the book herself, got up, and brushed past him.

The teacher chuckled softly and calmly turned to look at her retreating figure.

Under the dim light of the desk lamp, colored pens scribbled across the paper, depicting mundane and uninteresting things.

It has to be admitted that she simply doesn't have the ability to become famous, and even achieving results is difficult for her. Yu Weiyou calmly tore off the drawing paper, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it into the trash can. She stood up, walked to the height chart, and once again measured 165 centimeters.

As expected, she's not qualified in either design or height. What is she still insisting on now?

She quietly lay down on the bed, grabbed the blanket, and casually covered her head with it.

"..."

"Wei You, I'm sorry, I may not be able to hold on any longer. If you can, please carry on with my share of this journey. If one day you can't hold on like me, I will still be here waiting for you."

"No! Please don't do this! Please..."

"Goodbye, Wei You."

No……
