Chapter 6 The Blue Fish Monster

When they returned to the survivor base, the guards didn't say anything when they saw Lin An pushing a person in a wheelchair back.

I asked them a few casual questions as I opened the door and then let them in.

However, the necessary checks were still conducted, and they were locked in a room. After learning that they would have to wait a day, Gu Lingchuan and Lin Yu negotiated and shortened the time to twelve hours.

"Wait a moment, someone will bring you basic food. After you come out, I'll arrange a place for you to stay. There aren't many people here right now, so there are still plenty of rooms available."

Gu Lingchuan nodded. He expanded his mental domain to its maximum extent, but there weren't many people he saw, and they were all young adults.

As for the accommodation, it should be in that building complex in the distance. Before the apocalypse, that area was a resort area with picnic and guesthouses. The environment was quite nice, and the scenery along the Li River was also decent.

I remember there was a river that flowed out of the Li River, ran through the entire Qingyu fishing base, and also through the entire resort area, before finally flowing back into the Li River.

The water in the fishing pond is diverted from this river.

The fishing pond covers several acres and is mostly filled with grass carp, with fewer other fish.

It's said that there's a two-meter-long blue carp king inside, but whether that's true or not is unknown; it's possible that Lin Yu exaggerated it to boost his popularity.

They waited until nightfall, during which several groups of people came in, most of them looking gloomy and dejected, some even returning with only one person.

One incident occurred where one of them was scratched by a zombie and had to cut off his entire arm before returning to the survivor base, at which point Lin Yu appeared.

However, Lin Yu did not stop him from entering. After careful observation in Gu Lingchuan's mental domain, it was clear that he had been infected and it was only a matter of time before he turned into a zombie.

Gu Lingchuan kindly offered a reminder, but all he received in return was the man's anger and insults.

Lin Yu offered an explanation: "We have to think of a way, at least he hasn't turned into a zombie yet."

This statement earned him the respect of many and won him many hearts.

To Gu Lingchuan's surprise, one of the people who came to help was someone he had been longing to see—the nurse.

Gu Lingchuan's eyes turned unusually cold, an emotion he rarely displayed.

As the nurse passed by the house, Gu Lingchuan's lips slowly curved into a smile, and he said gently, "Su Min, Nurse Su."

When Su Min heard someone call her name, she immediately looked towards the source of the sound, and her whole body stiffened instantly, a chill running down her spine.

"You, you, you"

Her eyes widened and trembled as she pointed at Gu Lingchuan in the room, as if she had seen a ghost.

"Well, long time no see," Gu Lingchuan said with a smile and a wave, enunciating each word clearly.

Lin Yu, standing behind bars, asked in surprise, "You two know each other?"

"Haha, that's right. This nurse took care of my daily life after my legs became disabled," Gu Lingchuan's laughter rang out, sounding like the whisper of a demon to Su Min.

She was outside that day and heard the gunshots and her companions' cries; fear filled her heart.

He nodded hastily when Lin Yu asked him questions, and then hurriedly followed the others away.

Lin Yu noticed something was wrong, but he didn't say anything more; he had more important things to do.

Time passed slowly, and it came to one o'clock in the morning.

Gu Lingchuan, who was resting with his eyes closed, heard the sound of waves. His mental domain expanded instantly and finally locked onto the fishing pond behind the house.

There was a slight breeze at night, stirring the calm water, but Gu Lingchuan soon spotted a huge figure in the water, more than four meters long.

It was extremely fast, and with a flick of its tail, it disappeared directly from Gu Lingchuan's mental domain.

Gu Lingchuan only lingered in his mental realm for less than a second. Although he could see it clearly, he really didn't know what it was. It had fish scales, but crocodile-like arms, and overall it looked more like a bluefish.

Have animals mutated too?

Gu Lingchuan only came to this conclusion.

Not long after, one foot stepped into the spiritual realm, followed by the entire figure, which turned out to be Lin Yu. At this moment, Lin Yu was holding a person whose mouth had been gagged.

The person being carried was trembling uncontrollably, and his left hand had completely disappeared; it was the same person from that afternoon.

At this moment, he was on the verge of turning into a zombie, and Lin Yu threw him into the fishing pond without hesitation.

"Don't blame me, you're about to die anyway, so consider it helping us out; it's putting the best use of resources."

Lin Yu muttered something under his breath, watching the man struggle in the water. A moment later, a huge mouth bit the man's foot and dragged him into the water.

The commotion was quite loud, but the gatekeeper was in a bizarre state of constantly turning around, feeling terrified, wanting to shout, and then feeling bewildered, followed by another wave of terrified, wanting to shout, and then feeling bewildered again.

This process repeated until the water surface returned to calm. It only returned to normal after Lin Yu left, but continued to guard the gate as if nothing had happened.

Gu Lingchuan saw this change clearly and felt a chill in his heart.

Lin Yu feeding people to monsters and the strange behavior of the gatekeepers all demonstrate that this survivor base is unusual.

A breeze swept over him, chilling him to the bone. A strange feeling of being watched made the gatekeeper search for the source of this oddity.

Gu Lingchuan carefully searched the man's body with his spiritual domain and finally discovered something unusual: there was a strange worm about the length of a little finger in the man's brain.

It looks like a maggot and is now devouring the entire brain, with blood vessels and nerves connecting to it, as if it wants to replace the whole brain.

I observed the other gatekeepers, and they were all in the same situation. Had I wandered into the territory of some monster?

Originally, I was thinking of taking it slow, appearing in Liu Zhigang and Su Min's lives every day, and occasionally using my mental powers to hurt them until they died. But it seems that won't work, and I need to deal with them quickly.

Time flew by and it was the next day. When the time came, Gu Lingchuan was brought out by Lin An, who arranged a room for him.

“Here, as long as you follow the arrangements, you’ll have basic food every day. But don’t worry, I’ll arrange a suitable job for you,” Lin An said with a smile.

But Gu Lingchuan discovered that he also had the same parasite in his brain, only it was very small and could not be detected without careful observation.

Gu Lingchuan really wanted to figure out what had happened, but he had to deal with those two people first.

"I'd like to ask if Dr. Liu Zhigang is also here?"

Lin An nodded. "Yes, you know each other?"

"He was my attending physician before."

Lin An nodded. "That's easy. I'll have him come and examine your legs."

"Then I'll have to trouble you."

Lin An waved his hand.

"Trivial matters"

Lin An returned quickly, looking at Gu Lingchuan with a strange expression. "He said you survived because you ate your brother?"

When he arrived, he witnessed Liu Zhigang and Su Min having a heated discussion. When he suggested that they come and examine Gu Lingchuan's leg, both of them were extremely frightened.
