"Did something else happen?" Lin Hai asked, feigning a puzzled expression.
Lin An didn't respond to Lin Hai's words, but continued, "After Yang Wenguang died, you forcibly took his girlfriend. Although Tao Peipei accepted her fate and didn't expose it, perhaps she herself doesn't even know how Yang Wenguang died."
"But I know this very well. In the beginning, you found Yang Wenguang and used your numbers to threaten him into breaking up with his girlfriend. He disagreed, and an argument ensued. When you were looking for supplies, you arranged for some of your brothers to be with Yang Wenguang."
"While you were out searching for supplies, you ordered some of your men to kill Yang Wenguang."
After saying that, Lin Yu took a sip of water.
At this moment, Lin Hai's face was extremely ugly. He cursed those bastards in his heart, suspecting that one of them had betrayed him.
"Lin Yu, you need to provide evidence before you speak. Whoever framed me, bring them out here; I want to confront them face to face."
Lin Yu looked at Lin Hai. This was information he had pieced together from conversations with animals and insects; a direct confrontation was impossible.
He didn't cause trouble for these people, firstly because he felt somewhat guilty, since it was his own poor decision that allowed them to be parasitized, and secondly because the parasite problem was getting more and more serious and he couldn't get away from it.
"How could you be so stupid? If you had been nicer to Tao Peipei and used less extreme methods, you and I could have turned a blind eye. But why did you have to kill someone and break the rules?" Lin Yu walked up to Lin Hai and pressed Lin Hai down with both hands.
Lin Hai wanted to resist, but it felt like a mountain was pressing down on his shoulders, making it impossible for him to move.
Moreover, the harder you resist, the more your shoulder hurts.
"Lin Yu, what are you trying to do? We're related by blood. Why would you punish me for the sake of a dead outsider?" Lin Hai panicked and admitted that he was the one who did it.
Don't worry, it'll be over soon.
Just as Lin Yu finished speaking, a sharp pain shot through his brain, causing his vision to go black and his ears to ring.
After struggling violently for a few moments, he bled from all seven orifices and died.
Gu Lingchuan shook his head. "No, the parasites in his brain are connected to too many nerves. If I cut them off, he'll die immediately."
"The larger nerves should not be touched; touching them will result in death, with no chance of rescue."
"What if we just let the parasites die instead of cutting them off?" Lin Yu asked.
"The results shouldn't differ too much," Gu Lingchuan said, adjusting his glasses.
"We have to give it a try."
"Xiao An called Lin He, Lin Zhijie, Lin Wenzhou, and Lin Zhijun over one by one. These people are all Lin Hai's accomplices."
After a period of time, they were all tested, but none of them survived. Two of them did manage to hold on for a while, but they couldn't be saved without a doctor.
"Here's what we'll do, Xiao An, you make the arrangements. Tomorrow, take a few people to look for any surviving doctors. If not, see if you can bring back some medical books."
Lin An nodded; today's events had taken a toll on him, and he needed to recover slowly.
After sending Lin An away, Lin Yu looked at Gu Lingchuan and said, "Try severing the thinnest nerve in my brain."
Gu Lingchuan hesitated, "The success rate is too low, should we wait a little longer?"
Lin Yu shook his head. "Based on the rate at which I absorb zombie crystals to replenish my abilities, I can only last three days at most. Three days is my limit. Even if I succeed by then, I won't be able to suppress the parasites, and everyone will die."
"It's better to try again now when you have some spare capacity."
Since things had come to this, Gu Lingchuan didn't say anything more and enveloped Lin Yu with his mental domain.
The weak parasite remained motionless, connected to three nerves, all roughly the same size, but much thinner than those of the previous individuals.
"I am coming"
Gu Lingchuan gave a reminder and instantly cut off one of the wires.
Lin Yu felt a sharp pain on the top of his head, but nothing happened.
The next moment, from Gu Lingchuan's perspective, the severed nerves were rapidly recovering. The previous few people might also recover, but the speed was too slow for Gu Lingchuan to notice.
Gu Lingchuan recounted everything he had seen.
"We should have realized this sooner; our physical fitness is now far superior to that of ordinary people."
During the time he gained his superpowers, he moved his shattered bones back to their original positions one by one, and his crippled leg had recovered by about half.
A normal person's recovery ability simply cannot reach this level.
"Then let's continue," Lin Yu said after thinking for a moment.
Gu Lingchuan nodded, and the rest went surprisingly smoothly. Finally, he took out a silver needle, made a small incision, and removed the parasite.
The removed parasite wriggled a few times in the air before becoming still.
"Is it really that simple? But it can't be replicated." Lin Yu was somewhat lost in thought.
"Actually, ordinary people have a certain chance of evolving after eating zombie crystals." After thinking for a moment, Gu Lingchuan still revealed this information.
Lin Yu's eyes lit up. "What are the chances?"
"I'm not sure, but it's probably a low probability event. I can't be sure what the consequences will be; it might be terrible, or it might get better."
Lin Yu nodded. "I'll think about it."
At least for now, there is already such a successful example as him.
Gu Lingchuan didn't say anything more, leaving the room for him to think, and then returned to his own room.
Nothing was said that night.
Gu Lingchuan was woken up by noise the next day.
Looking out the window, I saw that more than thirty survivors had gathered together at the base.
At this moment, a dozen or so of them were holding zombie crystals and confronting the remaining dozen or so who did not have zombie crystals.
Last night, after Gu Lingchuan left, Lin Yu called each of the eleven people who had eaten the fish and were confirmed to have been parasitized into his room and explained the situation.
But what Lin Yu didn't expect was that the survivors who came later actually ate it themselves, even though he hadn't let them eat it.
After finally suppressing the riot of the parasites, the others started to protest. Upon questioning, it was discovered that they had also eaten fish, and a sensory examination revealed that they also had parasite activity in their brains.
What's even more troublesome is that because the parasites in these people's minds weren't suppressed before, they're now very active, and there's no longer any energy left to suppress them.
"My brother told you not to eat it, but you still ate it and now you're blaming my brother."
Lin An roared angrily.
No one paid any attention to Lin An, and the noise continued, showing signs of becoming physical.
But the noise stopped abruptly after a gunshot. Lin Yu, gun raised, said, "I've already given you a solution. Stop arguing."
Lin Yu had lied before, only saying that eating the zombie crystal would solve the parasite problem, without mentioning the probability. This was unavoidable, firstly because he didn't know the probability, and secondly because if he explained it clearly, these people would most likely riot.
Some of these people are armed, and he cannot guarantee the safety of everyone.
Lin Yu distributed the remaining zombie crystals, leaving two in the end.
"Who knows if you're telling the truth or not? Is this poison that kills us instantly, which would just solve our problem?"
Some people simply wouldn't listen, and even pointed their weapons at Lin Yu.
Seeing the situation getting worse, Lin An cursed and snatched the zombie crystal from Lin Yu's hand, swallowing it whole.
"Eat it or don't, it's up to you."
