Chapter 195 Fairy Sister (Part 2)
Zhuang Wan was amused. She took his hand and walked backwards in front of him: "Aren't you afraid of running into colleagues?"
I didn't expect that Pei Xingju, a man who was not afraid of swords and conspiracies, was so thin-skinned when it came to love. He was so cautious that he would be like a thief even when holding hands on the street.
Seeing her making fun of him without any form, Pei Xingju said helplessly: "Stand up straight, or you won't fall."
"I won't!" Zhuang Wan raised her chin and raised the two men's hands provocatively.
Without the cover of the long sleeves, the two people's interlocked hands were exposed.
Pei Xingju knew she was doing it on purpose, but he couldn't do anything about it. She had always been bold, daring to hold his hand in the crowded streets. Meanwhile, other young men and women, fearing being seen, deliberately kept a distance of three or two steps between them.
In such a comparison, Zhuang Wan is not at all unrestrained.
Because of their outstanding looks, even their simple attire attracted the attention of passersby, some of whom even turned their heads frequently. They were attracted by their talents and also by their amazement at their closeness.
Pei Xingju remained calm and, relying on the ability he had acquired over the years to remain calm even in the face of a collapse, led Zhuang Wan to the Imperial Street.
But after arriving at the Imperial Street, Zhuang Wan sympathized with his shyness when meeting his colleagues and let go of his hand.
Her hand was as cunning as a loach and broke free from his palm in an instant. Pei Xingju secretly felt regretful about this.
The government held a lantern riddle show in the open space between the Ministry of Rites and the Ministry of Justice. There was a stage with lanterns hanging all around it. On the stage, someone performed a fire-breathing trick, and the onlookers cheered.
Amidst the cheers, Zhuang Wan heard a clear voice. Turning around, she saw Princess Wu Jing and Shen Yi standing not far away.
Chen Yi also saw them and was waving towards them. He then patted Princess Wu Jing, who also looked over.
"Zhuang Wan?" Wu Jing was very happy to see her. She squeezed through the dark crowd and walked closer.
"Are you guys here to guess the riddles too?" she said with a smile.
Zhuang Wan asked, "When did the princess arrive?"
Speaking of this, Princess Wu Jing pursed her lips and said, "We just arrived and could have watched more shows, but Shen Yi procrastinated and delayed us."
Chen Yi was dissatisfied: "Is it me who is procrastinating? I have been waiting for you since the twelfth hour, but you have been dressing up in the house for nearly half an hour. I might as well go to the government office first."
"But you came back from the office very late." Wu Jing glared at him: "I have been waiting for you for a long time."
The two of them were arguing and bickering, each unwilling to give in to the other, which made Zhuang Wan laugh.
"Where are you going next?" Zhuang Wan asked.
"Of course, I'm going to eat something delicious," Princess Wu Jing said excitedly. "I heard there are acrobatics and lots of delicious food on Ningyang Street. I want to go and see it."
"Oh, you can even watch the fireworks at midnight. I've booked a private room at the Tianxiang Teahouse. It overlooks the river and has a great view. Would you like to come?"
Zhuang Wan looked at Pei Xingju, and Pei Xingju nodded.
"Okay." She nodded and said, "I'll come find you then."
After a brief greeting, the two groups left separately.
Over here, Princess Wu Jing finished viewing the lanterns and dragged Chen Yi to Ningyang Street: "Hurry up, if you're late the stalls will be closed."
"Don't worry, the vendors on Ningyang Street are waiting for you all night long, Princess."
Princess Wu Jing's eyes widened: "Wait for me?"
"Yes." Chen Yi said seriously, "Because everyone in the capital knows that Princess Wu Jing loves to eat."
Wu Jing was teased by him, but she didn't get angry. The corners of her lips slightly raised.
"Then let's hurry up! I brought a lot of money today. I want malt sugar, winter melon candy, and Poria cocos cakes. I want them all!"
.
Arriving at Ningyang Street, Princess Wu Jing was like a bird set free. She was intrigued by everything on the street stalls. After just a few steps, Shen Yi had a ton of food and toys in his hands, from cakes and snacks to sachets and fans.
"Chen Yi, hurry up."
Wu Jing walked happily ahead, not forgetting to urge Chen Yi on. Ningyang Street was bustling with people, and if they weren't careful, they would be blocked by the crowd.
After walking for a while in such a troublesome way, Wu Jing simply turned back and pulled him.
Chen Yi was uncomfortable: "Are you ashamed of pulling and tugging in public? Let go!"
"Who told you to walk so slowly?" Wu Jing glanced at him.
Chen Yi raised his eyebrows and raised the things in his hand: "Who bought this? Can I walk fast with so many things?"
Wu Jing felt guilty and smiled awkwardly: "Okay, then I'll walk slower."
The two came to a candy figurine stand. The candy maker was an old man with great skill. A spoonful of sugar in his hand was like a magic brush, and he would transform it into a monkey, then a cute puppy, making the children around him scream.
Seeing Wu Jing enjoying the food, Chen Yi asked disdainfully, "You don't want one too, do you? This is something children love to eat."
Wu Jing turned her head: "Isn't it possible?"
"Okay, but let me make it clear in advance that I won't help you with this, or I'll get sticky."
"If you don't want to take it, then don't take it." Wu Jing asked the old man, "How much is the sugar figurine?"
"Five cents each. What kind of picture would you like?"
Wu Jing pointed at Chen Yi and asked, "Can you draw him?"
The old man glanced at Shen Yi and laughed: "Yes, but you are so handsome, I may not be able to draw you like him."
"No problem, just draw whatever you want."
The old man nodded, melted a spoonful of sugar, spread out the paper, and drew a picture based on Shen Yi's outline and clothing.
Chen Yi looked curiously and thought to himself, it just has two eyes and a mouth, it looks like a human being.
Wu Jing got the candy man and waved it in front of Shen Yi: "Look, does it look like you?"
Before Shen Yi could respond, she bit off the candy man's head with a roar.
Chen Yi: “….”
Wu Jing laughed out loud. Just as she was about to leave, she caught a glimpse of a little girl staring at her, swallowing her saliva.
"Do you want to eat candy?" Wu Jing asked her.
The little girl was about four years old, and she was holding hands with an older brother. She glanced at her brother timidly and nodded.
"Well, if you praise me, I'll buy it for you, okay?" Wu Jing said jokingly.
The little girl's eyes lit up, and after thinking carefully, she said, "Sister is so beautiful, like a fairy."
"Hey," she squatted down and pinched the little girl's face: "You have good taste. Sister will buy it for you."
She counted out five copper coins and handed them to the old man, who then asked him to draw a puppy for the little girl. When a nearby child saw that the little girl had actually won a candy man, he immediately looked at Wu Jing with burning eyes and shouted, "Fairy sister, I want one too!"
Wu Jingyi laughed: "You have such a sweet mouth. Okay, I'll buy you one too."
As soon as he finished speaking, the other children also shouted, "Fairy sister, I want one too! I want one too!"
For a moment, in front of the small sugar figurine stall, a group of children rushed to call Fairy Sister, and passers-by couldn't help but look sideways.
Wu Jing's face was filled with smiles, lost in the constant calls of "Fairy Sister", looking very silly. Chen Yi felt embarrassed and deliberately walked away two steps to wait on the side.
It was a long time before the "Fairy Sister" was able to escape.
She walked over, put her hands behind her back and looked at Chen Yi with a smile: "Did you hear that? They all praised me for being pretty and said I was a fairy."
Shen Yi curled his lips, but couldn't help laughing.
