Chapter 2: Hugging the thigh

Chapter 2: Hugging the thigh

"Who?" Zhou Wan stopped.

Zhuang Wan squeezed Madam Zhuang's hand and stood up: "I want to see Pei Xingju!"

Zhou Wan was suspicious for a moment, then laughed.

"Miss Zhuang, Lord Pei is busy accompanying the Emperor and is busy with all sorts of affairs. How can you just see him whenever you want?"

"I have something important to say to Pei Xingju."

"What?"

"This is a confidential matter. Please ask Pei Xingju to come himself."

Zhou Wan narrowed his eyes and said, "As a girl in the boudoir, what secrets could you possibly have?"

"I'm a boudoir girl, yes, but I'm the daughter of Lord Zhuang, the Chief Censor." Zhuang Wan raised her chin, her gaze sharp. "Lord Zhou, you know why my father was imprisoned, don't you?"

These words really frightened Zhou Wan, and a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes.

"What I am about to say is of great importance. I advise Lord Zhou to invite Pei Xingju as soon as possible, otherwise Lord Zhou cannot bear the consequences."

Zhou Wan was only a fifth-rank official in the Ministry of Justice, a position his family had acquired through countless fortunes and connections, so he naturally couldn't afford it. Furthermore, the woman before him kept calling him "Pei Xingju." Besides the one on the throne, no one else in the world dared to address the Imperial Tutor by name before they were even born.

After considering for a moment, Zhou Wan stepped out and immediately sent someone to invite Pei Xingju.

.

Outside the courtyard, a man in a long black robe walked slowly. His steps were clearly neither hurried nor slow, but his aura was like the rolling waves on the lake.

He had black hair, a golden crown, sword-like eyebrows, and bright eyes. His tall and slender body stood in the courtyard, dazzling and noble.

"Sir Zhou... who wishes to see me?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw a man rushing up like the wind and hugging his thighs.

"Pei Xingju, you're finally here!"

This moment happened too quickly and too suddenly, and everyone was so shocked that they forgot what to do for a moment.

After a while, the people around Pei Xingju finally reacted and shouted in panic, "How dare you! How dare you offend the Imperial Master!"

The man wanted to step forward and pull Zhuang Wan away, but Zhuang Wan was unwilling to let go.

She hugged her thighs tightly, closed her eyes, and made up her mind: "Wuwuwu... Why did you come just now? I was so scared."

Everyone looked at each other, confused as to what was going on.

Zhuang Wan could feel the thigh in her palm was very stiff, and was obviously a little confused.

The man lowered his eyes and looked over with a sullen face.

This was my only chance, life or death. If I couldn't catch her, it would be all over. Zhuang Wan slowly raised her head and met his gaze.

The tears were ready, having already cried in the house before, so she just needed to build up some emotions. She was affectionate, yet with a hint of resentment towards the heartless man in her eyes:

"Yuzhi, I'm Wanwan. Have you forgotten that we once secretly pledged our lives together?"

With a bang, it was like water falling into a frying pan. The splashing oil caught everyone off guard and scalded them all. They were all shocked!

Even Pei Xingju's usually expressionless face showed a rare look of surprise.

For a moment, the air in the courtyard became quiet and dead, mixed with a sense of indescribable ambiguity.

Only, Zhuang Wan's heart was beating like a drum, almost jumping out of her throat.

She did this because she had just recalled something. Shortly before the Imperial Censor's raid, Pei Xingju had been assassinated while on a secret mission outside the capital. The sword had been poisoned, nearly killing him. Fortunately, he was surrounded by capable people, and a miracle doctor had painstakingly rescued him from the clutches of Yama Luo. However, while his life was not in danger, the poison had a side effect, causing him to temporarily lose his memory.

Only those around him knew about this matter, and they all kept it secret.

Little did she know, Zhuang Wan had read the book and was well aware of the plot. According to the plot, Pei Xingju would not regain his memory for six months, and she took advantage of this opportunity to disguise herself as his beloved woman and avoid the disaster.

She couldn't go to the Jiaofangsi, nor could she go with Zhou Wan. She was confused about the future and had to save her life first and make plans later.

Pei Xingju was a man of great skill and deeply favored by the Emperor, so ordinary people dared not offend him. Given today's outcome, even if she were sent to the Imperial Music Bureau, those who coveted her would have to consider Pei Xingju's status.

Apparently, the effect is quite good.

Everyone was stunned by the news. Even Zhou Wan, who was standing nearby, stared at the scene with his mouth open. His gaze flickered from Pei Xingju to Zhuang Wan, his face filled with disbelief.

"Yuzhi..." Zhuang Wan looked up at him anxiously, "You really don't remember?"

Soon, the surprise on Pei Xingju's face faded away, and his face became gloomy again.

Zhuang Wan felt extremely guilty, but she couldn't turn back. She tried to calm down and put her face against the man's thigh.

"It's a good thing you came. You don't know how much suffering I've been going through these past few days. I even tried to commit suicide, but maybe God didn't want us to be separated by life and death, so he brought me back to life. I knew... I knew you would come to save me."

She cried and laughed, felt resentment and pity, and looked very serious, as if she really had feelings for Pei Xingju.

Even her two maids who had chased after her stood there in a daze, their mouths opened as big as eggs in surprise.

The air was dead silent for a long, long time...

The person involved, Pei Xingju, finally spoke up.

"open!"

"Yuzhi?" Zhuang Wan looked deeply hurt. "Why are you treating me like this? Is it because my father impeached you and you still hold a grudge against me? But you clearly said you didn't care, and you even promised me..."

"shut up!"

Zhuang Wan's heart trembled and she quickly shut up.

As expected of the male lead, his aura is truly intimidating. A single look, a single word, can almost make one's heart tremble.

Under normal circumstances, Zhuang Wan would definitely not dare to provoke such a person, but she was about to face life and death. Taking a step forward meant life, and taking a step back meant death.

She risked her life!

She hugged his thighs and pulled them into his arms, pressing herself against his legs plaintively, crying and begging, "I won't let go, I won't let go!"

Pei Xingju: “…”

After a while, Zhou Wan came over and asked, "Sir, what is this?"

"It's completely false!"

The speaker was a man who had come with Pei Xingju, named Chen Yi. He gave a subtle laugh and stared at her, as if he had seen through Zhuang Wan's scheme. "I've always heard that Censor Zhuang has a stunningly beautiful daughter, but she's been secluded for so long. Seeing her today has truly impressed me. Miss Zhuang is not only incredibly beautiful, but also incredibly courageous."

He said to Zhou Wan, and also to all the officers and soldiers in the courtyard and the servants of the Zhuang Mansion, "Lord Pei is a man of integrity and has never had any private contact with a woman. Today, Miss Zhuang has made an impure attempt to get involved with her, and her crime is even more serious. She will be sent to the Music Bureau."

There was a hidden threat in his words, as if he wanted to force Zhuang Wan to reveal her true identity.

Zhuang Wan had died once before, so he was extremely courageous. He even dared to pull the hair off a tiger's butt, so how could he be afraid of his threats?

She raised her hand and wiped away her tears: "Yuzhi, is this what you mean? I know that I, a sinner, have brought trouble to your reputation. It is only natural for you to want to break up with me. But you..."

"But you shouldn't let others slander me like this. If you want to break up with me, just send me a letter like you did before. I won't mention our affairs in public."

"I've died once, so I can die again. But there are some things I need to know before I die."

She raised her face, tears welling in her eyes: "Do you still keep your promise to me?"

Pei Xingju frowned, his eyes were deep and dark, as if he was recalling something, or examining something.

Zhuang Wan trembled, her two white pearly teeth biting her lips tightly. "Pei Xingju, as the emperor's teacher and in charge of an important political department, don't you dare even admit it? Are you still a man?"

These words were so sharp and provocative that everyone was speechless, and even Shen Yi was unsure.

He quietly walked up to Pei Xingju and asked in a low voice, "What's going on? Were you really in a relationship with that girl before?"

Pei Xingju twitched his eyelashes but said nothing.

After a moment of silence, he lowered his eyes and looked at Zhuang Wan again.

The gaze was clearly just light and gentle, but it felt like a mountain pressing down on Zhuang Wan, making her breathless.

These words might fool others, but they certainly wouldn't fool Pei Xingju. He was always the one plotting against others, but never against him, even with amnesia. Her actions today were a risky one.

After a while, Pei Xingju finally took action.

He reached out and slowly took out a delicate little dagger from his waist.

Zhuang Wan's face showed deep sadness, but she was panicking inside.

What does he mean?

Do you want to kill her on the spot?

Woo woo woo....She feels a little regretful now!

Now, she didn't need to act, tears flowed unconsciously from her eyes. Damn, her luck was so bad, she just died once, and now she was going to die again.

Seeing Pei Xingju slowly approaching her with a dagger in his hand, Zhuang Wan accepted her fate and closed her eyes.

Forget it, just die. She lives in fear like this and doesn’t want to live until the next day.

However, the expected pain did not come. After waiting for a while, Zhuang Wan opened her eyes.

Pei Xingju held a dagger, turned her face away from his thigh, and then pried her fingers loose one by one.

Finally, he gently lifted her up with his long legs.

Zhuang Wan: “…?”
