Chapter 7

Chapter 7

For a week after Pei Jian was injured, A Luo appeared in Pei Jian's room on time every day, just like going to work.

One time when he came, he found Pei Jian playing a game with a maid that he had never seen before.

Pei Jian explained to him, "This is Ludo."

"Flying Chess?"

Alo looked suspiciously at the colored pebbles on the table, picked one up, and asked, "What's this?"

"piece."

"How do you play this?"

Adhering to the service principle that 'the target of the strategy is God,' Pei Jian patiently pointed to the objects on the table and explained them one by one, "This is a chessboard, and these with numbers on each side are dice. These colored stones are the chess pieces. The rules of the game are that each person takes turns rolling the dice. Only when you roll a five or a six can you place a stone on the chessboard. After that, you move the stone the number you roll. The first person to move all their stones wins. Each person has three stones."

Alo: "I want to play."

Pei Jian: "?"

As a result, Alo joined them.

He had terrible luck; every time he rolled the dice, he couldn't get a five or a six. Pei Jian had already moved one piece, but he was still stuck in the same spot.

We finally got on the road.

Pei Jian's story is over.

?

Alo stared angrily at the pebble in his hand, some of which had faded from rubbing it back and forth. "Am I really that unlucky?"

His indignant expression, coupled with the shackles on his wrists, looked somewhat comical.

Pei Jian patted the maid on the shoulder, "Go get me a pair of scissors."

The scissors arrived, and she leaned closer to Alo.

A Luo sat upright, watching as the silver scissors and Pei Jian drew closer and closer to him.

She had no scent on her, but smelled somewhat like someone stepping out of a house on a sunny day, greeted by bright sunlight and warm air.

"Click".

Pei Jian cut off a small tuft of his hair and placed it on the table. "This means cutting off bad luck. Don't worry, your luck will definitely be very good recently. If you don't believe me, we can play another round and try it out."

A Luo nodded and played another round as Pei Jian had suggested. As she said, her luck was indeed much better this time.

"How about that?" Pei Jian shook his head smugly. "I didn't lie to you, did I?"

Looking at her bright face and then at the pebble in her hand, A Luo softly agreed, "Yes, she is indeed much better."

"Alright," Pei Jian waved his hand, putting away the trinkets on the table. "That's enough for today. You can go now."

After Pei Jian finished packing up all her things, she saw that A Luo was still sitting in the same spot, motionless like a statue, and asked in confusion, "Why aren't you leaving yet?"

This problem seems to repeat itself every day.

Clearly, Alo didn't want to leave at this moment.

He helped Pei Jian tidy up the odds and ends on the table and put them into the woven basket.

The maid knocked on the door at the right moment and humbly served him a fresh cup of tea.

"Pei Jian."

"how?"

A Luo took a sip of tea, the scalding cup burning his palm. Instead of letting go, he gripped it tighter, as if trying to draw some strength from it.

Are you settling in well here?

Pei Jian nodded. Although the environment was not as good as the previous room, it was still clean and tidy, and had everything one should have.

"Do you like this bed?" Alo asked again.

It was a simple wooden bed with clearly visible grain. Its appearance was unpretentious, except the headboard was too hard.

"It's alright, it would be better if it had a edging, the headboard is too hard and uncomfortable to lean against, it's uncomfortable."

A Luo put down his teacup and placed his hands on the table. "I have a very soft bed in my side room. Would you like to try it?"

stop.

Pei Jian felt that the more they talked about this topic, the less open and honest they became.

"Would you like to move that bed over here with me?"

"You can move there."

After talking about other things for so long, Alo finally revealed his true intentions.

He hoped that Pei Jian could live closer to him.

Ideally, you should be able to see her as soon as you go downstairs.

"OK."

A week later, Pei Jian moved into A Luo's side hall.

The interior decor suited a young girl's tastes; the pink gauze curtains, bathed in the morning light, resembled a beautiful fishtail. Lying in bed, pulling the covers over her, she felt as if she were enveloped in soft clouds.

If I had to nitpick, there would probably only be one thing: he has to eat every meal with Alo.

It's like working a job with no holidays in a lavish office.

I'm so tired, so exhausted, I just want to rest.

Moreover, A Luo, this dragon, is sometimes too 'kind,' which Pei Jian can't handle.

-

In these peaceful and uneventful days, humans and dragons held their fifth meeting.

The meeting was held in a small town called Luo Village, about a day's drive from the palace.

To avoid spending the night in the carriage, Pei Jian and A Luo set off very early.

The scenery along the way was beautiful, so Pei Jian leaned against the car window, swaying as he watched the scenery rushing past. It was a rare moment when he could clear his mind, and all he could think about was the scenery in front of him.

We arrived around 11 p.m.

Pei Jian and A Luo lived very close to each other, in two wooden houses side by side.

The wooden house had been in disrepair for many years, and the door creaked loudly when the wind blew.

A Luo picked up a stone and placed it against Pei Jian's door to prevent it from being blown away by the wind.

He could clearly feel his own restlessness and agitation.

On the eve of his father's departure for war, Alo, like the others, forced himself to accept a helpless decision.

He was used to deceiving himself, telling himself that all the ups and downs, all the tears he felt, were illusions, and that he only needed to sleep, and everything would be alright after a good night's sleep.

A Luo stepped out of the room once again, standing anxiously at Pei Jian's door.

He couldn't sleep.

I didn't dare to sleep.

He stubbornly thought that if he didn't sleep this time, would the time he spent with Pei Jian be prolonged?

Never before had he felt such loathing for the sun slowly rising below the horizon.

As dawn broke, it meant that Pei Jian and he would have to part ways.

Suddenly, the lights came on.

The light in Pei Jian's room came on.

A bright light suddenly shone into Alo's eyes.

"Ah Jian?"

After a moment's thought, Alo knocked twice on the door. "What's wrong?"

The next moment, the door was pulled open.

Pei Jian frowned, his eyes revealing obvious impatience and weariness.

Alo opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say. His fingers, still suspended in mid-air, trembled slightly; he wanted to explain but didn't know where to begin.

Silence spread between the two, the air seemed to freeze, like the few unmoving stars overhead.

After a long pause, Pei Jian's tone softened slightly, "Can we talk about it tomorrow?"

But Alo remained standing as still as a bell.

Pei Jian sighed helplessly. After all, he was the one she was trying to win over. She stepped aside to make room for him. "Come in."

Alo stepped into the brightly lit room.

“Sit down,” Pei Jian said, pointing to a chair.

A Luo was like a character who passively received orders; whatever Pei Jian said, she did, and whatever she said she would do.

"Can you tell me now?"

A Luo remained silent throughout. Pei Jian saw that he appeared calm on the surface, but was completely unaware of the turmoil in his heart.

"Pei Jian."

"Um?"

"If... I provide you with a comfortable living environment, prepare nutritious meals for you every day, support all your decisions, help you, and care for you, would you consider staying?"

Silence once again.

Alo's Adam's apple bobbed repeatedly as he asked calmly, "Unwilling?"

“No,” Pei Jian managed to utter two simple words.

But you couldn't tell from her expression that she was willing at all.

A Luo thought it might be because she was too tired, or it might be because she was too reserved.

"Then...can you stay by my side for a while?" A Luo spoke quickly, afraid that Pei Jian would interrupt his outrageous request. "Not for long."

Let's appease them first.

As the strategist, you must first consider the needs of the person you are strategizing for.

Pei Jian replied almost without hesitation, "Sure."

This time, it was Alo's turn to be speechless.

The beggar used his last remaining money to buy a lottery ticket that won him a billion-dollar prize; the joy he felt was beyond anything else.

His gaze followed Pei Jian directly and passionately, repeatedly confirming, "You're willing?"

“Yes,” Pei Jian nodded.

Alo suddenly stood up, her gentle expression, like the tide under the sunlight, enveloped Pei Jian. The flustered panic suddenly subsided, and the turbulent waves in his heart were calmed down.

"Can I have a hug?"

He lowered his head and raised his hands.

It never ends. Pei Jian complained, but did as he was told.

A Luo nestled his face against her neck and shoulders, his large hands pressing down on Pei Jian's back with increasing pressure, as if trying to draw her into his chest. Pei Jian felt his hot breath, his scorching heat spraying onto her without restraint.

The dragon was so tall that she could only wrap her arms around half of its hard waist.

Is it okay now?

Pei Jian's arms were a little sore from holding him for so long.

A Luo let go, but his head rested against hers again, reluctant to part.

What flowers does A-Jian like?

"What?" The topic changed so quickly that Pei Jian didn't react in time. Weren't they just discussing whether to stay or not? How did it jump to flowers?

“Osmanthus, gardenia, plum blossom,” she said, “I love all fragrant flowers.”

"good".

As they spoke, A Luo's lips seemed to accidentally touch the delicate, thin skin on Pei Jian's neck.

Pei Jian shrank her neck and turned her head to escape his 'kissing'.

"It's getting late, let's go back and rest."

The bright moon hung in the dark night sky, and a few scattered chirps of insects came from outside.

It was so similar to the night more than three months ago.

“Okay,” Alo said, trying to cover up his misunderstanding by blocking the small window, “You go to bed, I’ll wait until you’re asleep before I leave.”

"what ever."

This was the best sleep Pei Jian had had since being 'kidnapped'. He slept without any dreams and woke up the next morning.

She was in a very good mood, so good that she even hummed a little tune she had made up herself.

System: [Why are you so happy?]

Pei Jian: [I'm going back today.]

System: [But didn't you promise Alo last night that you'd stay by his side?]

Pei Jian: [You misunderstood. He said 'afterwards' last night, not now, but in the future.]

System: [I think you've misunderstood.]

Pei Jian: [How could that be? Once an agreement is reached today, what excuse can I use to stay here? Even if A Luo wants to, and I want to too, we need a reason.]

System: [Do not forget your mission.]

Pei Jian: [I know. It's not that I don't want to keep them, but rather that I want them to stay slowly, gradually, and preferentially, in an orderly manner, according to the specific circumstances. Whether they stay early or late, being able to stay is a good thing.]

system:【...】

The system couldn't argue with her, and it had no way to interfere with the host's behavior, so it could only let her do as she pleased.
