Chapter 7: Mantis trying to stop a chariot
Recently, there have been frequent cases of missing persons in Wudu City, including children of nobles and people wandering the streets.
The government attached great importance to this case and set up several teams to investigate, but found nothing. During one mission, the team was ambushed by a group of men in black and suffered heavy losses. This is why they called on righteous men from all walks of life.
Now the only clue the government can confirm is that the group often appears at Longfeng Mountain Pass. Based on this clue, the government plans to gather forces and set up a siege here.
Since Jiang Li'an and his companions arrived at the government office, they discovered that the relationship between the two elegant young men seemed unusual.
The next morning, Yun Lang half-raised himself, his long hair draped over his shoulders. He looked at the person lying beside him, raised his hand and gently stroked his face. His eyes were filled with doting as he murmured, "Yuan'er, you were truly exceptional last night."
Jiang Li'an got up early today. When he went out, he saw that Lu Rongshi's room door was half-open. He went forward to check, but found that the room was empty.
When I was about to turn around, I heard a familiar voice coming from behind me, "Li An, what are you doing?"
The hem of Lu Rongshi's skirt was wet with morning dew. Sure enough, she got up earlier than her.
Jiang Li'an was a little angry. After all, even a martial artist would lose their health if they didn't get enough sleep. He asked, "Why did you get up so early?"
Lu Rongshi said gently, "Of course it's practicing."
Seeing that she had no idea what the problem was, Jiang Li'an became even more angry. He stamped his feet and said, "You can't abuse your body like this. Rest when you need to. Your skills have already reached a high level. There's no need to get up so early every day to practice."
Lu Rongshi covered his mouth and smiled, then asked, "Li An, are you concerned about me?"
Jiang Li'an's cheeks flushed immediately, and he said hurriedly, "Who cares about you? It's just because you're tired of getting up so early."
Lu Rongshi explained, "My swordsmanship is indeed very advanced, but now that I have given you my sword, I have no sword to use, so I have no choice but to brush up on my internal strength and body movements."
Jiang Li'an hesitated, then suddenly made up his mind and said, "Then I don't want your sword. Although that sword was my father's sword, its main significance is as a commemoration. I accidentally broke it, how can I ask you to compensate me?"
How could Lu Rongshi not see through her little thoughts? He smiled and said, "You still say you don't care."
Jiang Li'an's ears were red enough to bleed, and he said with a wandering look, "Alright, alright, time for breakfast. We still have to go listen to the battle plan today."
The whole day, Jiang Li'an's mind was filled with what Lu Rongshi said in the morning and her every move. She realized that something was wrong with her and was very confused. She just thought that their relationship was too good and too close, which made her uncomfortable.
Finally, the two of them were divided into a group with the two young masters and Qi Lao Er, and were asked to cooperate in the battle and not to show off their abilities.
Qi Lao Er, however, was extremely disgusted with the two young men and bluntly said, "You two are both men, yet you violate the principles of yin and yang and love each other. How can such rebellious people be in my group?"
Jiang Li'an then realized that their unusual relationship was actually based on mutual admiration.
Although it was the first time she heard about it, she did not feel disgusted. On the contrary, she even envied the two of them. They were not afraid of worldly views and they were in love with each other. They were truly a match made in heaven.
Then he said, "Hey, big guy, we are already teammates. We have to act together from now on. We can't have any grudges against each other.
Besides, the two of them were in love freely, and it did not interfere with others, nor did it violate the law, so how could it be considered treason?"
Lu Rongshi did not expect her to defend the two men and looked at her in surprise. It was not until Qi Laoer left that Yun Lang stepped forward to thank her.
Yun Lang bowed and said, "Thank you for your help just now, Miss Jiang. I am deeply grateful that Miss Jiang is so understanding."
Jiang Li'an was a little surprised and said, "Mr. Yun, you are too kind. It's just a small favor."
At this time, Han Xiuyuan also walked over, bowed to the two, and said, "Now that China's same-sex marriage law has just come into effect, it's normal that many people don't understand it. Miss Jiang is truly a person of character. Although the world is vast, it is difficult to meet people of the same mind. I admire your actions."
Jiang Li'an scratched the back of his head helplessly and laughed, "That's too much, too much."
Lu Rongshi looked at the people in front of him who were so overwhelmed by the praise, smiled and shook his head, walked forward and said, "You two gentlemen, you don't have to be polite. We will be teammates from now on. I will need your help when the time comes."
After exchanging pleasantries, they parted ways. Seeing the two of them leaving hand in hand, Jiang Li'an suddenly felt something strange in her mind. She stared at Lu Rongshi, but her thoughts were interrupted by a whistle.
Everyone arrived at the central hall, and the former constable announced loudly, "Everyone, the latest news is that the gang of thieves appeared in the village at the foot of Longfeng Mountain at 9:00 PM today, looted the village, and then disappeared without a trace. According to spies, they learned that the gang went to the mountains.
Now the plan has changed. From now on, each team will be responsible for a hilltop. We must find the hiding place of that gang!"
"promise!"
Jiang Li'an and his four companions were assigned to the most inaccessible mountain. Anyone with a discerning eye could see that their superiors were trying to prevent them from encountering the thieves.
Jiang Li'an and the other man were enjoying their free time, but Qi Lao Er was not happy about it. He crossed his arms and said, "Oh, it's you two women who are hindering my achievements. Women should stay at home to take care of their husbands and children. Coming here to wield swords and spears will only hinder others."
Jiang Li'an's fury instantly exploded upon hearing this, and he said coldly, "Since you look down on others like this, I'll see how much you weigh!"
As he was about to strike, Lu Rongshi, who was standing beside him, stood in front of Jiang Li'an, shook his head slightly, and gave Jiang Li'an a look. Jiang Li'an understood and put away his stance. He continued, "It seems that you are just a sharp talker, but your martial arts skills are not that good, right?"
Qi Lao Er's beard stood up straight as he shouted, "In terms of martial arts, the four of you combined are no match for me. You are so arrogant. Are you trying to test the power of the Qi family's swordsmanship?"
Yun Lang frowned and stepped forward, saying, "Oh? Your Excellency, do you mean you are very brave? Could you please teach me?"
Qi Laoer scolded, "You don't know what's good for you!" With a flash of his body, he came in front of Yunlang with the Qi family knife in his hand. Yunlang was not surprised at all. He closed his folding fan and used it as a sword, releasing the force left and right, making Qi Laoer's knife skills like a palm hitting cotton, with no effect. Qi Laoer sighed in his heart and accelerated his attack, using several knives at the same time. Yunlang remained calm and handled the situation with ease. Jiang Li'an secretly praised his good kung fu.
After about a cup of tea, the two men fought for more than ten rounds, but neither of them could defeat the other. The fight only stopped when officials came to stop it.
Yun Lang adjusted his breathing and said with a smile, "It seems your martial arts skills are only so good. It's hard for you to fight against one of me, so how can you fight against four of us?"
Qi Lao Er was frustrated. He picked up the scabbard, took back the Qi family knife, and said angrily: "You are lucky this time!" Then he walked towards the mountains.
Lu Rongshi stepped forward and said, "Master Yun, are you okay? Thank you for your help."
Yun Lang waved his hand and said, "This is a trivial matter. This person is so arrogant. I'm afraid he will cause a lot of trouble in the future."
Lu Rongshi agreed, "That's true. When the time comes, we'll just have to fight back."
The four of them set off together and went deep into the mountains. There was another group of people traveling with them. The two groups were assigned to similar places, so if a fight really came to an end, they would be able to look after each other.
By noon, they had not found any thieves and were about to go down the mountain when Yunlang discovered a cave. The place was in the shade and the entrance was blocked by vines. It was impossible to see without careful observation.
Qi Lao Er immediately took the lead and walked towards the cave eager to make a contribution. The others had no choice but to follow. When they entered the cave, they found that it was a different world. There were torches stuck on the stone walls and there were traces of recent artificial repairs. All these showed that the cave was inhabited. Yun Lang silently protected Han Xiuyuan behind him, and Jiang Li'an and Lu Rongshi also became alert.
Only Qi Lao Er, with a sword drawn, was swaying left and right in front of them. It was all thanks to him, otherwise several people would have fallen into various traps.
Qi Lao Er leaned on his knife and panted, "Damn it, have these people turned into rats? They are so good at digging holes." Then he shouted with full force, "You rats, do you dare to fight me head-on?!"
Jiang Li'an and the others held their foreheads in frustration, but fortunately the other party did not make any movement. Qi Lao Er cursed inwardly, "Coward!" and stood up to continue walking inside.
As they walked downhill, they were extremely alert. Suddenly, a blast of arrows echoed throughout the cave. Archers came out from all directions, and a group of thieves armed with machetes rushed out from the front. The leader said, "My dear guests, I apologize for not welcoming you. I wonder what brings you here?"
It was one of the thieves in the portrait. Qi Lao Er's eyes widened with anger, and he raised his knife and shouted, "Thief! Give me back my eldest brother!"
He rushed forward with a tiger step, and was swallowed up by the crowd in an instant. Archers from all around fired thousands of arrows. Jiang Li'an and the other three did not dare to delay any longer. This was the thieves' lair, and they should call for support as soon as possible. They drew their swords. Lu Rongshi held the Moye sword in his hand, protecting Jiang Li'an behind him, and raised the sword flower to block the flying arrows.
Yun Lang and Han Xiuyuan were also brandishing their swords, blocking left and right, and the flying arrows could not hurt them. Looking at Qi Lao Er, he was actually rushing left and right in the crowd, being stabbed several times and bleeding. The four of them immediately retreated, they really couldn't take care of him.
When the thieves saw the four trying to escape, they immediately gathered and chased after them. Yun Lang watched the thieves getting closer and closer. He glanced at the two girls, his heart hardened. He turned around and said in a deep voice, "You three go first, I'll follow!"
Han Xiuyuan was worried about his safety, so he stayed with him. Yun Lang said, "Young ladies, when you get out, please call for reinforcements immediately. We will buy you some time."
Lu Rongshi said, "Please be careful, we will go and come back quickly."
Then the two of them came out of the cave together and saw from afar another group of people running towards them in a panic, with a large group of pursuers following behind them.
Jiang Li'an thought to himself that things were not going well and said, "Rong Shi, there are blockades in front and pursuers behind, the situation is critical."
Lu Rongshi, however, had a calm expression and said, "When an enemy comes, we will fight him; when water comes, we will block it with earth. Li An, it looks like we will have a tough battle today."
The two young masters at the back, fighting and retreating, also reached the cave entrance. Another group in front, all wounded, also gathered around. The leader said, "The bandits are numerous and powerful, and we are isolated and helpless. How can we avoid this?"
Lu Rongshi said in a deep voice, "It seems we have no choice but to fight to the death! Everyone, today it's either the bandits being destroyed or I dying. Only by killing all the bandits can we have a chance of survival. Let's charge down the mountain and fight our way out!"
Everyone was just looking for a backbone at this time, and when they heard Lu Rongshi's sonorous and powerful voice, they felt relieved. They turned around and thought that it was just as she said. If everyone fought hard to fight their way out, they might not lose. So they gathered their confidence, gripped their swords tightly, and attacked the bandits at the foot of the mountain.
The author has something to say:
Being trapped in a dangerous situation, everyone is in danger of survival.
