Chapter 12
Chapter Twelve
Xie Wei had assumed Xu Ziyan would act like those other Omegas who had deliberately approached him before, calling and texting him every few days under various pretexts. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. The off-season was peaceful; he spent his days training and playing ranked matches, his life no different from before.
Xie Wei couldn't quite describe how she felt. After struggling with it for several weeks, she simply stopped thinking about it and put the matter out of her mind.
Just then, Resistance was about to receive a major update, and all the teams were busy with the new changes and maps. As the captain, Xie Wei naturally couldn't let personal matters interfere with important matters. Before long, things returned to normal.
It was late at night again, and it was pitch black outside the window, with a lone moon in the sky and scattered lights in the distance.
Xie Wei had just finished a ranked match. He glanced down and marked the landing points and flanking positions he had just tested. When he looked up and saw that it was getting late, he realized that he hadn't eaten dinner yet.
He was the only one left in the training room. Xie Wei rubbed his sore neck, clicked the mouse twice, shut down the computer, stood up, grabbed his car keys, and prepared to go out for a late-night snack.
The corridor was deserted and dark, stretching as far as the eye could see, and at first glance, it even looked a bit eerie. Xie Wei walked to the elevator and was casually scrolling through her phone when she suddenly heard a not-too-loud noise downstairs, and she was startled.
It's this late, and there are still people still in the training room who haven't gone back?
As this question arose, Xu Ziyan's face inexplicably appeared in his mind.
Xie Wei had been too busy these past few days, and Xu Ziyan had been tactful enough not to make her presence known, so she had rarely thought about it anymore. But how could she so easily forget the first Omega she had ever marked?
On a whim, he pressed the button for the second floor.
The second floor, like the third floor, was also quiet.
The training room door was ajar, and the light from inside streamed out, casting a long strip of light down the corridor. Xie Wei unconsciously slowed her footsteps and peered through the crack in the door.
Inside the training room, in front of the only computer that was still lit, Xu Ziyan was fast asleep, with his empty takeout box and drink bottle lying to the side, clearly indicating that he always ate his meals in front of the computer.
On the computer screen, the queuing interface had disappeared because it hadn't been confirmed for too long, and the countdown for the penalty of being banned from queuing had only two or three minutes left. Judging from this, Xu Ziyan had only slept for a dozen minutes. Even if he was asleep, his hand was still on the mouse and hadn't moved.
Xie Wei was somewhat surprised.
To be honest, he initially thought Xu Ziyan was just a pretty face, which was why he used his body to secure a spot on the team. Although he had already taken care of things at the youth training camp, the prejudice was already ingrained and difficult to change, so Xie Wei always felt that Xu Ziyan's skills were lacking.
But now, looking at the exhausted Omega in front of the computer, he felt a little wavering.
He picked up his phone and entered Ice's ID into the ladder app.
Ranked 57th.
The top 100 players on the ladder are almost all professional players and top-ranked casual players, making it very difficult to advance even one rank. However, Xu Ziyan managed to squeeze forward more than ten places.
It happened during this major version update.
Xie Wei was surprised and taken aback. Looking at Xu Ziyan, who was still fast asleep, she hesitated for a moment, then pushed open the door, tiptoed in, found him a blanket to put on, and left quietly.
--
After a training match ended, Xu Ziyan stretched and yawned widely.
Although he is nominally still the reserve team's substitute medic, in reality, everyone has already tacitly accepted him as the new starter.
Seeing this, Yuan Shaofeng, who was closest to him, asked, "Didn't you sleep well last night?"
"I slept quite well." Xu Ziyan twisted his neck. This was no lie. These past few days, due to the major version update, he had practically been living in the training room, and sleeping in front of the computer was a common occurrence.
Normally, if I sleep like this, I'll need coffee to keep going the next day, but yesterday, for some reason, I suddenly smelled a very, very comforting scent while half asleep, and then I slept exceptionally well. When I woke up, I was full of energy and could go on for another ten hours or so.
After thinking for a moment, Xu Ziyan turned her head and asked, "By the way, Brother Yuan, I fell asleep in the training room yesterday. Did you put a blanket over me?"
"No." Yuan Shaofeng turned around and asked the others, and they all gave negative answers.
Xu Ziyan found it a little strange, but didn't pursue it further, assuming it was just some kind person passing by.
After a quick dinner, he sat back down at his computer and clicked on the rankings.
This was the busiest time, and he quickly got into the queue. Xu Ziyan clicked the confirm button and was adjusting his keyboard when Yuan Shaofeng suddenly exclaimed and poked Xu Ziyan's arm: "Holy crap! Ice! I'll give you ten bucks, let me play this round!"
Xu Ziyan was puzzled and looked up at his teammates' list.
You won't believe it until you see it, and what you find will shock you.
The player ID marked in 2L is Shining, who is a sniper.
It's Xie Wei.
