Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Chapter Thirty

The next day, Xu Ziyan got up early, remembered Xie Wei's instructions, took out his phone and sent Xie Wei a message.

Xie Wei quickly sent a reply.

Wait for me downstairs at the dormitory; I'll take you there.

Xu Ziyan felt a little strange. He knew the location of the team's training room, so why did Xie Wei act like he was afraid of getting lost?

He only understood the reason for this question when he followed Xie Wei into the training room.

Perhaps because it wasn't time for official training yet, the training room was quite empty. In the warm morning sunlight, rows of machines were neatly arranged in the room, next to sofas and coffee tables, and a few novels and comics were placed on the bookshelves. Facing the door was an entire wall of display shelves, filled to the brim with all the honors TWG had won over the years.

In front of the computers in the second row sat a slender figure.

It is Qu Qingyue.

Needless to say, Xu Ziyan immediately felt embarrassed. He thought to himself, no wonder, if it weren't for Xie Wei, and he had run into Qu Qingyue alone, the situation would have been millions of times more awkward than it is now.

Before this incident, Xu Ziyan and Qu Qingyue's relationship, though not close, was still acceptable.

But after learning that Qu Qingyue was going to transfer, Xu Ziyan, as her successor, always felt awkward whenever they met again.

More importantly, after reading the message she sent to Xie Wei on New Year's Day, he vaguely sensed that Qu Qingyue probably had feelings for Xie Wei.

Adding the element of rivalry makes things even more awkward.

Hearing the noise, Qu Qingyue looked away from the screen in front of her. When she saw Xie Wei, she raised her eyebrows slightly, widened her eyes, and was about to speak when she saw Xu Ziyan following behind.

Her smile froze on her lips.

Xie Wei said, "Clear, this is Ice, the new substitute medic for the first team. You know him before, so I won't go into details."

Xu Ziyan and Qu Qingyue exchanged a glance, both noticing the awkwardness in each other's eyes, and exchanged a perfunctory greeting.

Xie Wei led Xu Ziyan to the newly vacated camera position, gave him a few brief instructions, and then returned to her own seat.

None of the three were the type to talk during ranked matches, so the training room fell silent for a moment, with only the sounds of keyboards and mice echoing overhead.

Xu Ziyan connected his peripherals, turned on his computer, and while waiting for it to boot up, he secretly glanced in Qu Qingyue's direction.

From his position, he could just see Qu Qingyue's back. He noticed that the girl had clearly become distracted after his arrival, no longer focusing on the rankings, but occasionally turning her head to look in Xie Wei's direction.

Xu Ziyan sighed deeply.

Just as he could guess Qu Qingyue's feelings for Xie Wei from a single message, Qu Qingyue most likely also realized her own feelings for Xie Wei.

After yesterday's chat with Bai Ke, Xie Wei's image in Xu Ziyan's mind changed from a cold, indifferent, and composed person who remained calm even when Mount Tai collapsed in front of him, to a meticulous and perceptive person who was actually clueless about the emotional aspects of life.

He brought me here today because he was sure I would feel uncomfortable if I met Qu Qingyue.

But he certainly didn't expect that the reason for his discomfort wasn't just the position of a medical team, but also because of him.

However, it's highly likely that Xie Wei herself doesn't have the latter awareness.

Xu Ziyan looked away and logged into her account with practiced ease.

In any case, now is not the time to think about these things.

He knows that his skill level is still different from that of the top medical staff in the league. In order to make up for this gap, he must work harder now so that he can not show his fear on the field.

--

Just as Xu Ziyan had guessed, Xie Wei was completely oblivious to the fact that he was caught between two Omegas who liked him. At that moment, he was typing on the keyboard, replying to the message from the captain of the KW team to arrange a practice match.

He was undoubtedly shocked when he learned from Yu Guangzhou that Qu Qingyue was going to transfer.

Although it is very common for professional players to switch teams, the four members of TWG have gone from being unknown to their current glory with almost no personnel changes. In addition, their recent performance has been relatively stable. Xie Wei really can't figure out why Qu Qingyue decided to transfer.

However, he also respected Qu Qingyue's decision. All good things must come to an end, and it's not like they'll never see each other again. They're in the same league and are still friends in the game. If they want to play a couple of rounds together, it's something they can do anytime.

A while later, Shen Xiao and Bai Chen also arrived at the training room. They had both been notified beforehand, so they were not surprised to see Xu Ziyan.

Shen Xiao greeted Xu Ziyan warmly: "Wow, Ice, I didn't expect we'd be teammates so soon! Impressive! No wonder you're the rookie king of healing. How about we play a couple of ranked games together?"

His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for the entire training room to hear.

As soon as she finished speaking, Qu Qingyue's back stiffened noticeably.

Xu Ziyan was perceptive enough to smile apologetically: "Xiao Shen, it's my turn to train on my own today. Can you help me rank up later if you have the chance?"

Shen Xiao didn't notice anything amiss and laughed, "Okay, okay."

He was about to say something more when Bai Chen, standing beside him, subtly stopped him: "Coach Yu is coming soon."

So Shen Xiao had no choice but to stop talking and sit down in his seat.

Xu Ziyan breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but glance at Bai Chen.

If Xie Wei gives off a feeling of aloofness, then Bai Chen is utterly indifferent.

As an assault player, his style is incredibly calm. His judgments and actions on the field are clearly the result of careful consideration, making it hard to imagine how he manages to do it.

Shen Xiao's style is carefree and unrestrained. He stands out from the crowd with his steady, accurate, and ruthless shooting skills and excellent reaction ability. Bai Chen's calmness and composure complement him perfectly, which also allows TWG's assault gun line to consistently rank among the top in the entire league.

When Xu Ziyan first met Bai Ke, she often wondered how someone as cold and aloof as Bai Chen could have such a talkative younger brother.

Now, in Xu Ziyan's heart, Bai Chen had changed from "his friend's brother" to "his friend's crush," and Xu Ziyan couldn't help but take a few more glances at Bai Chen.

But she happened to meet his cold gaze as he looked back. Startled, Xu Ziyan quickly looked away, thinking: The two Bai brothers have such different personalities, but they are surprisingly similar in this keenness that seems to see right through people.

The team's training matches are scheduled before dinner, so that they can review the games after dinner.

Today's practice match was against FTK. Their team likes to pair one assault and one sniper for coordinated kills, while another assault and one medic are paired to apply pressure from the front. While this strategy might be disadvantageous on capture-the-point maps, it becomes incredibly strong in escort missions.

In the first game, Yu Guangzhou again fielded all four of his team's starting players. It happened to be a defense map, and Xie Wei set up his gun on the clock tower. His accuracy was absurd; he was practically one-shotting everyone. Qu Qingyue's healing support was also excellent, allowing the frontline assault team to comfortably deal damage. FTK couldn't even capture point A and were forced to lose.

This result was within expectations.

This was Xu Ziyan's first time watching a training match between top teams, and he was observing very attentively. Just as he was thinking about how he would handle the situation on the field, he heard Yu Guangzhou say, "Ice, for the second match, you go up and give it a try."

Although he knew he was there to fill in for an empty spot, Xu Ziyan didn't expect the opportunity to come so quickly. It was only his first day on the team, and he was already playing in a training match.

When he sat down at the computer to join the team, his fingers were trembling with unusual nervousness, something he rarely did.

He had imagined and longed for this moment countless times, and many times thought it was impossible for him to do it. But now, sitting in the TWG first team's training room, looking at the TWG-Shining ID on the team's screen, he felt his blood rushing to his head and his nerves taut.

"Check your job and basic settings, and get ready." Xie Wei's voice in the headset was slightly different from the one in reality, but it overlapped with the voice in the video that Xu Ziyan had watched before. "Listen to the instructions, and don't be nervous."

Xu Ziyan immediately realized that the last sentence was spoken to him alone. His heart skipped a beat, but his nerves miraculously relaxed because of those three words.

In the second game, TWG was on the offensive, while FTK was on the defensive.

In the first round, Qu Qingyue chose a pistol and a smoke grenade.

After hesitating, Xu Ziyan chose the healing bottle and the stun gun.

This also means that, apart from the limited number of times he could use the stun gun, he had completely given up on self-defense.

Outside of the competition, Qu Qingyue frowned slightly.

Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to secondary weapons. But what she couldn't understand was that Xu Ziyan chose a healing potion that increases healing output instead of an armor pack that can stack armor for assault troops.

While healing potions certainly provide more healing, the benefits of armor packs are more obvious: they can stack on top of a character's base health, allowing a character with 100 health to have 150 health.

The most powerful bolt-action sniper bullet deals 125 damage with a headshot, meaning that the armor pack can protect assault soldiers from the danger of being instantly killed by a headshot.

Qu Qingyue chose a pistol earlier because she considered the coordination between the enemy's assault and sniping, and decided to ensure a certain level of self-protection.

But healing vials? Not to mention here, very few people choose them, not even across the entire arena.

She didn't say anything, but watched quietly.

It must be admitted that Xu Ziyan's positioning and awareness are excellent. Even if he makes a small mistake, he can make up for it with his outstanding reaction ability.

Most importantly, he was incredibly skilled with the stun gun.

At the first point, FTK's assault player and medic teamed up to snipe, providing ample firepower from the front. Meanwhile, another assault player stealthily approached the rear of TWG's team, attempting to eliminate Xu Ziyan, who was in the medic position.

However, the moment he charged out, Xu Ziyan remained calm and unhurried, immediately throwing a healing bottle to fully restore his health. Then, he used a stun gun to firmly and accurately pin the attacker in place. Xie Wei then sniped him in the head, taking down the man instantly.

Having lost one of their assault troops, FTK had no choice but to retreat, ceding point A to them and turning to defend point B.

Qu Qingyue looked at this series of smooth operations and smiled bitterly: she knew very well that she could not do such a thing.
