Chapter 116 Prayer

Chapter 116 Prayer

Seeing that Ji and An did not refuse, Ji Zhongzi was delighted and quickly scooped a spoonful of hot porridge and put it to their mouths.

The bloodless lips opened slightly and held the spoonful of hot porridge.

The lotus seed porridge that used to taste sweet to him now tasted very bitter, so bitter that he wanted to vomit. However, thinking about what Ji Zhongzi had just said, he still swallowed the porridge despite the bitterness.

He has to eat more, otherwise Ji Zheng will definitely be unhappy when he wakes up and sees that he has lost weight.

Thinking of this, he loosened one hand, took the porridge from Ji Zhongzi's hand, and drank it up in one gulp.

But he still underestimated himself. Not long after he drank it, a strong feeling of nausea surged into his heart, and it was so strong that he couldn't suppress it. His face wrinkled in pain, and he bent over slightly, vomiting all the porridge he had just drunk.

Seeing this, Ji Hean, who had just put away the bowl and spoon, was in a panic, with fear and helplessness written all over his face. He hurried forward, stretched out his hand and gently patted Ji Hean's back, asking a series of questions in his mouth, his voice trembling a little: "Xiaoxiao, what's wrong with you? Why did you vomit everything?"

Ji Hean just shook his head weakly, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his face became paler than paper.

After a long pause, he whispered, "I don't know."

Ji Zhongzi frowned, his eyes full of worry: "I'll go get a doctor to check you out." Then he turned around and walked out.

Ji Hean quickly reached out and grabbed him, "No, Zhongzhong, please leave me alone. I want to be alone. Please, okay?"

Seeing him like this, Ji Zhongzi was worried, but he could only do as he said.

He went out silently, got tools and started cleaning up Ji Hean's vomit on the ground. He also took clean clothes and a towel to Ji Hean and asked him to wipe his body and change his clothes.

Finally, he looked at Ji Hean deeply with eyes full of worry and pity, then turned and left.

The heavy snow outside still continued, the sun was blocked by thick clouds, the sky looked foggy and gloomy, and a feeling of depression came over me.

Ji Zhongzi returned to his room, changed his clothes, and went out.

In Yu's study, charcoal fire burned quietly in the exquisite copper stove, making a slight "crackling" sound from time to time.

Emperor Ren sat at his desk, reviewing memorials with a red brush in his hand. After a while, he raised his hand and rubbed his brows, as if remembering something, and asked, "How is Lord Mu's funeral going?"

Mu Ce had no other family members, so Emperor Ren handed over his funeral arrangements to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Eunuch Li, the chief eunuch, stepped forward, bowed slightly, and replied softly, "Your Majesty, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is already doing its best. The mourning hall is set up at the Baiyun Temple on the outskirts of the city. The environment there is quiet and peaceful, and Lord Mu's spirit can rest in peace. Now we are preparing for a ritual to pray for Lord Mu's soul. Everything is going on in an orderly manner. Your Majesty does not need to worry."

Emperor Ren nodded in satisfaction, and then asked, "Has Lord Ji's family not started the funeral yet?"

"Yes." Eunuch Li hesitated for a moment and said, "Master Ji's family members don't allow the case. They said Master Ji is not dead, but just left temporarily..."

Upon hearing this, Emperor Ren was silent for a moment. Ji Zheng and his wife had a good relationship, which was well-known in the court. Seeing this at this moment, Emperor Ren couldn't help but feel sympathy.

He sighed, waved his hand and said, "Forget it, don't worry about Master Ji anymore."

The snow was flying heavily and the wind was biting. Ji Zhongzi's hands were red and swollen, and there were snowflakes on his eyelashes. Looking at the plaque of Xiangguo Temple in front of him, the corners of his mouth curled up.

He threw the stick in his hand aside, knelt down, kowtowed heavily, stood up, took a step, and knelt down again to kowtow.

He repeated this over and over again until he arrived at the temple. Looking at the solemn and dignified Buddha statue in the main hall, Ji Zhongzi clasped his hands together and prayed sincerely: "Merciful Buddha, today I, Ji Zhongzi, bow respectfully before your seat. I know that everything in the world has its destiny, but I still have a lot of obsession and concern in my heart."

"My younger brother, Ji Hean, has been neglected and bullied at home since he was born. His frail body has always been wrapped in tattered clothes. The rough fabric of the clothes has left scars all over his tender skin."

"He often had no food to eat and could only pick up leftovers in the corner, like a kitten abandoned by the world. For sixteen years, he never had a single day of smooth sailing. The past was full of bitterness and suffering for him."

"Ji Zheng is the most important person in his life. I beg the Buddha to show his boundless Dharma power, have mercy on the suffering he has gone through, and let his lover's soul return to this world. I am willing to offer all my merits without reservation in exchange for their health and happiness."

"In this life, I will remember the Buddha's compassion and kindness, devote myself to Buddhism, and spread the Dharma to repay this great kindness. I only hope that the Buddha will have mercy on me."

At the end of his speech, tears slowly flowed from Ji Zhongzi's closed eyes. He bent over and kowtowed nine times on the cold stone slabs.

After asking the host for a red rope, Ji Zhongzi hurried down the mountain.

The winter night came especially early. When he reached halfway up the mountain, it was completely dark.

The snow and wind were very strong, and the way down the mountain was more dangerous than going up. Ji Zhongzi had to be more careful. There were mountains and forests all around, and even though it was not that dark under the reflection of the snow, Ji Zhongzi was still a little scared.

It was quiet all around, with only the sound of the wind being heard. Ji Zhongzi gradually got used to it, and the fear in his heart gradually disappeared.

He quickened his pace, but unexpectedly something jumped out of the woods. Ji Zhongzi was startled and stepped on a stone without paying attention. With a crack, he sprained his ankle.

The severe pain made him unable to move at all. The snow fell heavier and heavier, and the surroundings began to become foggy. Ji Hean broke out in a cold sweat on his forehead, partly because of the pain and partly because of fear.

In such a heavy snowstorm, if he couldn't get out, he would probably have to die here.

However, the red rope he asked for for Ji He'an had not been given out yet. Ji Zhongzi was very unwilling, but the pain in his ankle made him helpless.

After a while, his feet still couldn't move. Helplessness filled his heart, and he slowly squatted down, putting all his gravity on his right foot.

Snow fell on his eyelashes and hair. Ji Zhongzi smiled bitterly and looked up at the sky resignedly. He clasped his hands together again and prayed, "May Ji Zheng wake up, and may Xiao, Ji and An be happy."

Just as I made the wish, I suddenly heard faint footsteps, the sound of rustling on the snow.

Carefully identifying the direction, Ji Zhongzi looked over and dimly saw a tall figure walking towards him step by step.

What is that?

Human? Or...Bear?
