Chapter 25 Argument
After coming to Xiangxianglou for so many days in a row, the waiters in the store have already known Ji Zheng.
After all, no farmer comes to listen to stories on time every day. More importantly, Ji Zheng only orders a pot of the cheapest tea every time he comes and never goes to the second floor.
"You came a little late today. Mr. Gao has already finished half of the book." The second brother came up to me with a smile.
This second brother never looked at people with his eyes, and Ji Zheng had a good impression of him. "I'm not here to listen to books today."
"Oh? Do you want to tell stories?" the second brother joked.
Ji Zheng: “….” You really guessed it right.
"I want to see your shopkeeper."
"What do you want to do when you see our shopkeeper?" The waiter looked suspicious.
"Of course there is something going on."
"Okay, wait a moment, I'll go and report it." The second brother turned around and ran quickly into Xiangxiang Tower.
After a while, the second brother came out and said, "Come with me."
Ji Zheng followed the second brother's footsteps and came to the rightmost room on the second floor of Xiangxiang Building. "Our manager is inside. Just knock on the door and go in."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. My name is Gululu. What's your name?" The second brother had a good impression of Ji Zheng. Although this man was poor, he was neither humble nor arrogant and looked like a capable person.
Gulu? Ji Zheng wanted to laugh, "My name is Ji Zheng."
"Okay, I've got it. Come on in, I have to work too." Gu Lulu has a baby face, and she looks even younger when she smiles.
I knocked on the door three times in a regular pattern, and a voice came from inside, "Come in."
"Gululu said you were looking for me?" Ji Zheng had just walked in, and before he could say anything, the shopkeeper spoke first.
As she spoke, she looked him up and down without disguising her feelings.
This was an act of contempt, but Ji Zheng was not bothered by it and directly stated his purpose, "Is your building still hiring storytellers?"
The shopkeeper was a man in his forties. He had an ordinary appearance and his dress was very consistent with the identity of a shopkeeper, exactly the same as he was on TV.
However, this man is quite capable. He took over the Xiangxianglou when he was 20 years old. Originally, the business of the Xiangxianglou was not very good, but it was under his operation that it gradually achieved its current success.
“Neither short of nor short of it.” Seeing Ji Zheng’s neither humble nor arrogant demeanor, the shopkeeper felt somewhat admiring of him and thought of giving him a chance.
If you have talent, there will be a shortage; if you don’t have talent, there will be no shortage. Ji Zheng naturally understood what the shopkeeper meant.
"How much time does the shopkeeper have now?" He had to demonstrate in front of the shopkeeper.
"How about giving you a stick of incense?" The shopkeeper touched his beard, leaned back on the armchair, and looked like a big boss.
The time of one stick of incense was exactly what Ji Zheng had in mind. After all, if it was too short, he would not be able to show his full potential, and if it was too long, he would worry about Ji Hean who was still waiting for him.
Ji Zheng adjusted his posture and tone. What he wanted to talk about was naturally "Journey to the West", one of the four great classics.
As for why I chose this book, firstly, it does not have much content; secondly, it is popular among a wide range of people, young and old, men and women, and thirdly, it has many derivative stories that can be told later.
"Dear audience, today I want to present a story that is as delicate as a thread. I hope you will enjoy it for a long time after listening to it." Ji Zheng began to narrate slowly, "In the chaos before the heaven and earth were separated, there was no one in the vastness..."
Meanwhile on the other side.
The streets were bustling with people coming and going.
"Mom, let's buy some meat to eat at home." A man in the crowd who looked 50% like Ji Hean pulled the woman next to him who had one hand full of things.
"Eat, eat, eat, all you know is to eat. If you don't have money, don't buy anything!" After saying that, the woman muttered in a low voice, "There's no rice or flour left at home, and you're still buying meat. You're so grown up and you don't know anything."
Being scolded like this, the man curled his lips and was unhappy, "If you don't want to buy it, then don't buy it. Why are you talking so much?"
One of them is Ji Hean’s biological mother, and the other is Ji Hean’s biological brother Ji Dafu.
Ji's mother did not say anything. She frowned and calculated whether the little money she had was enough to buy the things the family needed. Ji Dafu, who was standing next to her, looked at the girls and young women who were out playing or buying groceries on the street with a lewd look on his face.
However, just as he looked, he saw Ji Hean who was having a great chat with the Sugar Man Master.
"Mom!" Ji Dafu hurriedly grabbed Ji's mother's clothes, his tone was filled with undisguised surprise.
"What are you doing? I said I have no money!" Ji's mother looked impatient, thinking that Ji Dafu called her to buy something again.
"I'm not asking for money!" Ji Dafu was unhappy because of Ji's mother's tone, but he still suppressed his anger, "Look, is that Ji and Ana the disaster star?"
Hearing Ji Hean's name, Ji's mother was stunned, then she looked in the direction of Ji Dafu's sight and saw Ji Hean. If it wasn't for the flesh that fell off her body, Ji's mother almost wouldn't have recognized him.
"It's him." Ji's mother confirmed, but then wondered, "How could this loser be dressed so well?"
"Mom, we can eat meat tonight." Ji Dafu licked his lips and stared at Ji Hean with excitement.
After all, he was her own son. As soon as Ji's mother heard it, she knew what he was thinking, and of course she thought so too.
Ji He'an is her son, and it is the son's duty to respect his mother. When she thought about how well Ji He'an was living now, but he didn't bring any benefits home, and she was still calculating here, she felt angry.
Ji Dafu on the side was also very angry. He felt that since Ji Hean was living such a good life now, she should give him money to go home and help him get married. Anger suddenly surged in his heart, and he blamed Ji Hean for the reason that he couldn't get married.
The two of them walked towards Ji Hean angrily, and if you didn't know them, you would think they were going to seek revenge on their enemies.
On the other side, Ji Hean also felt something. When he looked up, he saw his mother and elder brother walking towards him with vicious faces.
With a plop, the golden sugar fell to the ground and was smashed into pieces.
The originally rosy lips lost their color, and the pale little face was filled with fear.
"What's wrong with you? Are you not feeling well?" The old man selling candy looked at Ji Hean, whose face suddenly turned pale, in confusion and asked with concern.
Unfortunately, before I could get an answer, I heard a woman's curse, "You little bitch, you loser!"
Along with the sound came a vicious slap, leaving a palm print on the fair face in an instant, showing how powerful the force was.
This sudden situation immediately attracted the attention of passers-by.
Sugar Man had a good impression of Ji Hean. "What are you doing? You just come up and hit someone..."
Unfortunately, before he could finish his words, Ji's mother interrupted him with a sharp voice, "I'm teaching my son a lesson, why are you here to join in the fun, you old fool!"
It is natural for a mother to teach her son. Even the emperor cannot do anything about it. The old man has no choice but to remain silent and dejected.
"You're such a money-loser and unfilial son. I worked so hard to raise you, but now that you have money you've forgotten about your mother, right?" As she said that, Ji's mother gathered her strength and slapped Ji Hean's back a few more times.
Ji Hean's fear of Ji's family was engraved in his bones. He was unable to utter a word and his whole body was shaking.
When the crowd heard what Ji's mother said and saw that Ji He'an did not refute at all, they all thought that Ji He'an was an unfilial son and immediately started pointing fingers at Ji He'an.
"Hand over the money quickly!" As she said that, Ji's mother reached out to grab the purse from Ji Hean's hand.
Looking at the bulging purse, there must be a lot of money in it. The greed in Ji's mother and Ji Dafu's eyes was about to overflow.
"No!" The money in the purse was hard-earned by Ji Zheng, so he naturally would not give it away. He held the purse tightly and would not let go no matter how Ji's mother beat him.
"You bastard, you dare to talk back!" Another slap in the face, Ji Hean felt pain, but more of it was hatred.
I hate this mother who gave birth to me but didn't treat me as a human being. I hate the greed on both mother and son's faces.
After trying for a long time without success, Ji's mother was a little tired. She panted and urged Ji Dafu, "Son, you go ahead. No matter what, make him hand over the money!"
Ji Dafu had been rubbing his hands and feet on the side for a long time. Now that he received the order, he walked up and snatched the money bag from Ji Hean's hand very rudely.
"Ji Dafu, give me back my money!" Ji Hean wanted to snatch the money back, but Ji Dafu pushed him hard, and he staggered backwards and sat on the ground, with his palm injured.
Feeling the weight of the purse in his hand, Ji Dafu licked his teeth with his tongue and couldn't wait to open the purse in his hand. Looking at the copper coins inside, he said, "I'm rich, I'm rich!"
Seeing the money in hand, Ji's mother was also happy. Looking at Ji Hean who had just climbed up from the ground, her eyes rolled and greed surged in her heart again, "Come home with me!"
The clothes that Ji Hean was wearing were made of cotton, and if they were sold, they could fetch dozens of copper coins. And the soft shoes, her feet were almost the same size as Ji Hean's, so she could keep the shoes for herself when the time came. She had never worn such soft shoes before.
Thinking of this, Ji's mother immediately looked at Ji Hean as if she were looking at a fortune tree, with her eyes shining.
After all, they were mother and son, and Ji Dafu knew what his mother was thinking at a glance. Just as he was about to step forward and pull Ji He'an, he suddenly felt like he was flying out.
Then, a cry of surprise was heard from the crowd.
Before he could react, someone sat on him, and then fists rained down on his face and body.
"You son of a bitch, I'm going to kill you today for the sake of justice. You dare to bully my people!" The man was Ji Zheng, "You son of a bitch!"
Ji Zheng's eyes were red as he cursed and waved his fists. The hostility he exuded made everyone around him gasp.
Intense pain spread from his body to his cerebral cortex, and a bloody smell filled his mouth. The pain made him want to scream, but as soon as he opened his mouth, his bloody teeth fell out and his mouth was closed.
