Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Dead silence.

Ji Dongzang could not hear their wails, curses or prayers.

The only sound in my ears was the heavy paws of Mo Wanda and the straw rabbit.

When it was deeply stuck in the meat paste and then difficult to pull out, it made a monotonous and desperate "Puff...Puff..." sound.

The sound was like a death knell, echoing over the crimson cemetery.

The straw rabbit translated Mo Wanda's low voice in a timely manner:

"Did you see... those dark shadows... they... are Juya... my... companions."

Ji Dongzang's eyes swept over these shadows struggling and dissolving in pain: "You did not abandon your own flesh and blood to integrate into the new world."

This is a statement, not a question.

Rabbit translated Mo Wanda's response:

"Yes...you and I...our duty...is to guide...a new civilization."

Ji Dongzang's topic quickly changed: "Just now, a few dark shadows tried to catch me. What is this? Escaping from the collective subconscious?"

The rabbit was silent for a moment, as if receiving and transforming Mo Wanda's more complex thoughts, and then translated:

"Yes... I long to escape... After all... who would... willingly... watch their world... crumble..."

"They... are the spurs of civilization... that have been chewed... for eons... yet still... not swallowed."

This sentence was not translated by Rabbit.

It was impossible to tell whether it was Mowanda's sigh, the rabbit's whisper, or the collective wail that remained of the scarlet world itself.

It instantly pierced all of Ji Dongzang's thoughts.

This gave her an unprecedented understanding and inexplicable emotions towards the scarlet hell and the struggling black shadows before her.

The straw rabbit carried Ji Dongzang on its back and trudged through the dead, crimson flesh for who knows how long.

Finally, they stopped at the edge of a huge, deep pit.

"This... is the place where Theia landed."

"Theia..." Ji Dongzang repeated in a low voice.

She leaned over and looked deeper into the pit.

There was only nothingness there, nothing to see.

Mo Wanda's huge body turned slightly to the side, his eyes falling on Ji Dongzang:

"Want to... go and take a look? To see... the world... after Juya... experienced the impact?"

Her voice held a strange allure, as if inviting Ji Dongzang to step into the gap in time.

Ji Dongzang looked directly at Mo Wanda: "What do you mean? You seem to be guiding me?"

Mo Wanda did not deny it: "Yes... the world changes... you... have choices."

"Choice?" Ji Dongzang's nerves tensed instantly.

"You mean, I can choose to prevent Theia's arrival? Or, prevent the 'beast transformation' in our human world?"

She threw out two possibilities.

Mo Wanda's huge head shook slightly, as if he was confused or unable to understand Ji Dongzang's expression.

She offered a more direct and cruel option:

"You...can...kill all...the Shifters."

"Kill all the Shifters?!"

Ji Dongzang was shocked: "Then... there will be no new world! What will the future be like?"

Mo Wanda shook his head again: "Maybe... there will be no more... new life... and civilization... or maybe... it's something else..."

Ji Dongzang carefully looked at the giant in front of him and said, "You probably want to see the alternation of civilizations, right?"

"All...envoys...who have experienced...the alternation of civilizations...have...hoped."

Mo Wanda's answer was calm and honest.

“So if your world is destroyed, you want our world to be destroyed too?!

"Isn't this just 'being jealous of others' success'?! You want us to go through the pain you've been through yourself again?!"

This was a fierce question filled with human anger.

There was not a single splash of water.

Mo Wanda said nothing more, no explanation, no rebuttal.

She turned around.

The sticky blood mud surged heavily with her movements.

She walked away, leaving only the last words:

"There's still... time..."

The huge figure was quickly swallowed by the scarlet mist, leaving only Ji Dongzang behind.

And the straw rabbit that still carried her silently.

The rabbit was unusually quiet and did not disturb Ji Dongzang's turbulent thoughts at the moment.

Ji Dongzang looked at the huge pit.

Her thoughts were all over the place, and she even wondered if Mo Wanda wanted her to jump in and die.

Ji Dongzang felt his consciousness struggling to break free.

She lifted herself heavily from a hardwood table.

What comes into view is a room that has been enlarged several times in proportion.

Everything seemed unusually spacious and towering.

On the walls hung huge, bulging sacks made of burlap.

The shelves are neatly stacked with brick-sized soaps of various colors and candles as thick as human arms.

And many things placed in ancient wooden jars with notes written in Juya characters on them.

In the corners were piles of unpolished ores and neatly bundled dried herbs.

The whole space was filled with a unique, rough smell that mixed herbs, wax oil and mineral dust.

Although the items are huge, they are surprisingly neat and orderly, exuding a primitive and warm feeling.

Ji Dongzang subconsciously lowered his head and looked at his body.

She wore only a loose, one-piece robe of rough gray linen, tied casually at the waist with a thick rope of the same material.

She ran her palm tentatively over her arm.

The touch is surprisingly rough!

The surface of the skin is covered with particles.

It's hard and has completely lost the softness and elasticity of human skin.

Beneath the skin, you can clearly feel the full muscle contours.

She even clenched her fist unconsciously.

I felt an overwhelming and unstoppable force surging through my bones, far exceeding the previous one.

There are no mirrors in the room.

She moved awkwardly to a polished brass kettle that was half a person's height.

Using the blurred reflection of the pot's curved surface, he tried to identify his new image.

An unusually unfamiliar head was reflected in the reflection.

The hair is short, messy and sparse, making it look like a bald head.

The face still vaguely showed a little bit of the original three-point outline of Ji Dongzang.

But the overall look is more wild.

He looked like a wild man who had just walked out of the deep mountains and forests.

She stumbled over to the huge window, hewn from a single log.

His movements were extremely uncoordinated, and his legs looked like newly installed prosthetic limbs.

Ji Dongzang steadied his still shaky body and looked out the window.

Outside is an open, simple and unpretentious farm scene.

The vast but flat land was divided into several plots and planted with some tall crops that she couldn't name.

Several giants of the same size and rough skin were sitting scattered in the yard.

The three giants were weaving something flexibly with their thick fingers.

Another scrubbed a clay pot that resembled a small bathtub.

Two others were leisurely spreading out some fragrant hay to dry in the sun.

The sun shines on them, peaceful and harmonious.

"Dong, are you okay?"

A giant who was knitting raised her head and asked towards the window, with natural concern in her tone.

Miraculously.

Ji Dongzang completely understood this time! That Juya language with its peculiar syllables.

She was startled, then tentatively opened her mouth and responded in her accustomed Chinese: "No...it's okay."

Something even more magical happened!

The sound coming out of her throat was not the Chinese language she was familiar with.

Instead, it automatically turned into Juya language!

The syllables flowed naturally, as if she was born to speak the language!

That’s great, he mastered an alien language out of nowhere?

It saves so much trouble.

In the brief conversation that followed, Ji Dongzang understood the situation:

It turned out that she was not feeling well today, and it happened to be their family dinner day.

The people in the yard are all her family members.

Rather than being hired laborers as she had initially thought, they had worked together to help her finish the work and housework that needed to be done for the day.

A warm current mixed with gratitude and an inexplicable sense of belonging surged through Ji Dongzang's heart.

She thanked her family members clumsily and sincerely and turned back into the house.

I picked out a few from the huge pile of soap candles and gave them to them as a thank you.

Watch them accept it happily and leave together with their things.

His figure blended into the warm evening light of the farm, and Ji Dongzang stood under the door frame.

I feel mixed emotions.

This is a huge, rough yet inexplicably warm world.

Ji Dongzang returned to the house and walked to a low, wide table.

The table was piled with all kinds of vegetables and fruits in strange shapes and bright colors.

Many of them were species she had never seen before and could not name.

Next to it was a small jar of crystals that were as clear as broken diamonds.

She pulled out the cork curiously, picked up a few grains and put them in her mouth.

An extremely strange and indescribable taste explodes on the tip of the tongue!

It tastes a bit strange at first, but surprisingly it is not bad. Instead, it quickly transforms into a rich aroma.

It feels like eating floral essence directly, the fragrance is overbearing.

Following the winter storage, squinting eyes, delicious!!

Having tasted the sweetness, Ji Dongzang simply tried it like a poison test.

I tried all the strange fruits and vegetables on the table one by one.

Each one has a unique taste and delicious flavor, full of the freshness and wonder unique to the other world.

After filling your stomach.

She tidied the room neatly and went out.

Start exploring this world belonging to "Ju Yadong".

This settlement is more lively than expected, with many similar simple farmhouses scattered around.

Some of the wealthy people she met greeted her enthusiastically and chatted with her, while others carried their own belongings and said they wanted to exchange things with her.

Ji Dongzang readily agreed and naturally integrated into it.

It was as if she was born to be a member here and had completely adapted to the identity of "Ju Yadong".

The flow of time here seems to be completely different from reality, as if the fast-forward button has been pressed.

Ji Dongzang spent many sunrises and sunsets here, experiencing the simple and pure pastoral life.

Farming, harvesting, exchanging, and daydreaming in the warm sun.

The days are so peaceful that it makes people intoxicated.

She almost thought she would be trapped in this warm and huge body forever, and would never be able to go back...
