Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Half a year after Theia collided with the Earth's core, there was no trace of other humans on the desolate Earth except for Sui Chunsheng, Xia Changjie, Qiu Lian, Ji Dongzang, Gaojie, Zhou You and Yu Ren.

For some reason, the mutated animals and humans gathered near the floating tower. Several people lived with these creatures, and half a year passed in a flash.

During the past six months, they have gradually awakened the ability to create things out of thin air.

Xia Changjie summoned a robot out of thin air. She turned into a white robotic cat with long ears, giving Pang Dahai a playmate.

Gao Jie concretized her longing by creating images of her deceased family members, from ancestors to children who unfortunately passed away or had unexpected mutations.

At this moment, in front of Ji Dongzang, Zhou You and Yu Ren, steaming hot braised pork, greasy pork elbows, and bright red hairy crabs suddenly appeared...

"The longer we stay in this wilderness," Zhou You said as he recorded, carefully putting the photos he took together with the diary of the day.

"I found myself forgetting some of the things I had in the past. For example, I wanted to conjure up an SUV and an airplane, but I only managed to conjure up a cow and an eagle."

Xia Changjie walked over and looked at the various things that everyone had created, his tone filled with worry:

"Is everyone like this? If we keep going like this, will we forget everything completely?

"I only have the ability to create things out of thin air, but I can no longer perceive or recall anything..."

Qiu Lian did not join the discussion, but just walked silently to the food and started to eat with the fool.

Ji Dongzang ignored them and walked out alone.

She stood on the edge of the suspended tower and looked at the land in the distance.

Above the ground, strange flowers and plants were faintly flickering, and in the distance were dilapidated high-rise buildings and the wreckage of vehicles lying on the streets.

Everything in front of me is moving slowly.

A group of strange objects of different sizes, like cans, are moving everything on the earth in an orderly manner.

As small as a stone or as large as an entire office building - a single "can" is enough to carry the huge reinforced concrete skeleton.

They carry the remains of human civilization and move slowly in the sight of winter hibernation until they disappear.

Along with those once familiar or glorious creations, they are gone.

Snap…

Zhou You had stood beside her at some point, fiddling with his camera.

She couldn't see these scenes herself, but her camera lens could capture them.

Zhou You happened to capture a picture of a small "can" carrying an office building sliding down, but the next second, the "porter" in the photo disappeared.

"Do you think... that is an existence in a higher dimension?" Zhou You put away the camera and casually put his arm on Ji Dongzang's shoulder.

"I don't care." Ji Dongzang coldly pushed her hand away and jumped off the suspension tower.

"The human world will eventually disappear anyway."

Ji Dongzang walked straight towards a house not far away.

Standing at the door, she looked inside: her mother was lying on a lounge chair on the balcony, basking in the fake sun.

Dad was at the cat dining table, preparing food for the cat.

Ji Dongzang walked in to look for the two cats.

The gray one curled up on the balcony, snoring softly.

The black one was lying in the cat bed, holding a carrot toy in its arms.

She picked up the gray cat and sat down on the open space next to her mother. She said nothing, and her mother didn't even give her a glance...

It has been half a month since she conjured up her "relatives".

There had been no real conversation between them in the past half month.

Most of the time, Ji Dongzang just stayed in this house silently, guarding this cold and familiar home.

The mother and father she "created" still do what they loved in their lifetime day after day.

In the living room, there is even a painting that "mother" had just painted not long ago.

One painting shows a happy scene of their family of five.

Another picture captures the heartwarming moment when Ji Dongzang and his two cats are sleeping in each other's arms on the carpet.

Ji Dongzang's eyes swept across the canvas, and memories surged.

One depicts her falling asleep while playing games after graduating from high school.

The other one is a group photo taken on Black Cat’s birthday——

Mom was sitting in the middle holding the black cat, Dad was sitting on the right holding the gray cat, and she was shoveling the cat litter when she was hurriedly called over.

In the photo, she is holding a cat litter shovel in one hand and resting the other hand on her mother's shoulder, leaving behind this image full of the flavor of life.

After hibernating for a while, I looked out the window and saw that those tireless "cans" were still moving everything on the earth.

For a moment, Ji Dongzang thought he could forever indulge in this dream he had woven with his own hands.

However, the longer they were together, the past events that she had once deliberately forgotten became clearer and more profound against the backdrop of false warmth.

The mother and father she created simply repeated the same old routines over and over again.

They will quarrel with the former "Ji Dongzang" who is no longer present, and will also devote their own care to that empty place.

Mom would repeatedly press and rub her non-existent belly under the quilt. This was something she always did whenever Dongzang had stomachaches when he was a child.

Ji Dongzang's gaze turned to the window again. She silently conjured a swing next to the recliner, sat on it, and swung gently.

The swing creaked.

I don’t know how long it took...the house that carried false warmth, along with the mother and father inside, the purring of the cat, and even the fake sun.

All disappeared silently.

On the empty wasteland, only Ji Dongzang was left, sitting on the swing and continuing to swing.

When Ji Dongzang slowly opened his eyes, Zhou You was pushing the swing back and forth.

She was carrying a bulging backpack, obviously having been waiting for a long time. Seeing Ji Dongzang wake up, Zhou You stopped.

She blinked at Ji Dongzang, her eyes gleaming with eagerness.

The two of them did not delay any longer and quickly shuttled through the various mutant groups, and soon arrived at the junction of the floating tower and the huge pit on the earth.

The scene here is strange: powerful spiritual energy is constantly surging, and the air is filled with an indescribable strange glow.

They first cautiously reached out and tested the edge of the area.

Ji Dongzang's mind moved, and two thick iron chains appeared out of thin air.

The two men quickly fixed one end of the chain firmly to the edge of the suspended tower and tied the other end tightly around their waists.

Zhou You pulled the chain a few times, and after confirming that it was stable, he jumped without hesitation. His figure instantly disappeared into the bizarre intersection.

Ji Dongzang glanced around and without any hesitation, she pulled a mutated giant snake from the side and followed Zhou You's trajectory. Both man and snake fell into the bottomless center of the earth.

The moment the chain was stretched straight, Ji Dongzang felt dizzy.

The mutated giant snake twisted wildly beside her, its scales scratching her arms, leaving a few bloody marks.

"Zhou You!" she shouted, but her voice seemed to be swallowed by something.

Suddenly, the chain stopped suddenly.

Ji Dongzang was hanging in the air, with the light of a shrinking cave entrance above his head and nothingness beneath his feet.

The snake broke free from her control and quickly merged into the darkness.

"Hold my hand."

Zhou You's voice came from the side. Ji Dongzang turned around and saw her floating on a protruding crystal platform, holding a taut iron chain in her hand.

Her camera hovered beside her, the lens autofocusing, recording it all.

After Dongzang swung past, the "ground" under my feet suddenly had texture.

It was a plane made up of countless tiny metal cubes, each of which was slowly rotating, making a slight clicking sound.

"Welcome to the stomach of the Earth." Zhou You patted his backpack. "I brought supplies, but I didn't expect there would be..."

Her words were interrupted by a shock.

In the void below the platform, more of those "can" porters emerged.

But this time, what they were transporting was no longer the human world, but glowing geometric shapes, including pyramids and icosahedrons, all emitting soft blue light.

"That's memory." A voice suddenly sounded.

They both turned around at the same time.

The Fool appeared at the edge of the platform at some point, holding the white robotic cat in his arms.

Her eyes reflected the geometric blue light, appearing unusually bright.

"Master once said that when the Earth begins to digest itself, the first thing to be broken down is memory."

The Fool gently stroked Doraemon's ears.

"These movers are reorganizing Earth's DNA, including all memories of its past. All of this is in preparation for a new world."

"What about us?" Zhou You asked, his camera trained on the Fool. "What are we? The ones who slipped through the net?"

The Doraemon jumped down from her arms, and the Fool jumped beside them before saying, "During this process, the spiritual energy emitted by the earth will be absorbed by you, and you are the seeds."

At this moment, the largest blue pyramid floated above the platform.

Its surface began to flow, revealing images—

That was the world before the impact of Theia. People were coming and going on the streets and children were playing in the park, which was in stark contrast to the barren surface now.

Then it shattered without warning, and soft light emanated from the cracks, much of which flew towards Ji Dongzang Zhouyou and merged into their bodies.

Ji Dongzang soon felt his body getting hot, and he started sweating a little, but he felt light and refreshed.

She followed the instructions and wandered around the center of the earth. Soon she fell on a crystal. Her hands and feet sank slightly into the crystal, a bit like jelly.

Is this Theia?

"For a long time in the future, the mutants will survive here and leave humans." The Fool said incoherently while gnawing on the Theia crystal.

Ji Dongzang noticed that the Fool liked to chew on the crystal more than the pig's trotter, so she also dug out a piece and put it in her mouth. It was crispy and tasted like liquid when she swallowed it.

It’s not that great, Ji Dongzang threw away the remaining crystals in his hand.

In mid-air, it was caught by a snake, which wrapped its tongue around the crystal and swallowed it into its stomach.

Is this the snake she brought down? Ji Dongzang was a little bit unbelievable.

It has a red mouth, black teeth, and golden pupils. It has green scales on the outside and a black lining on the inside. Its entire body is covered in gold and has tree patterns.

No matter how you look at it, it's not the black snake she had caught before.
