Chapter 7

Chapter 7

For a moment, Ji Dongzang wanted to leave immediately.

But the incessant wailing in her ears and the ocelot in front of her with its eyes closed and twitching slightly also troubled her.

In the end, she didn't leave, and continued walking along the eaves. This courtyard was surprisingly large, probably a dozen or so earthen houses surrounded by a wall.

Iron doors are embedded in the walls to facilitate movement between the houses.

After walking for a while, Ji Dongzang actually found a house where there was no fighting.

She stopped and observed: there were nine stray dogs scattered in the yard - two ordinary dogs snuggled next to a mutant dog; a mutant dog and a mutant puppy were lying not far away; and a larger mutant dog was blocking the door of the house.

Most of the dogs just glanced at Ji Dongzang's appearance and showed indifference.

Only the mutated little puppy excitedly jumped to the wall where Ji Dongzang was, raised his head and barked from time to time.

"Sit, sit down, dog." Ji Dongzang tried to communicate with it.

"Woof woof!" The puppy responded happily twice, and actually sat down obediently, looking up at her.

The big mutant dog that had just been snuggling with the puppy also walked over.

It was silent, just quietly looking at Ji Dongzang on the wall.

At this moment, the mutated dog that had been blocking the door and lying like a guard stood up.

In an instant, all the dogs in the yard, big and small, whether they were mutated or not, quieted down, stood up, and faced the house and the majestic big yellow dog at the door in unison.

The big yellow dog glanced at Ji Dongzang and turned to go into the house. Ji Dongzang held his breath and stayed where he was, watching.

A moment later, the big yellow dog came out with a large bag of dog food. Aside from the two normal dogs who seemed a little excited, the other mutant dogs waited in unusual silence.

However, the saliva that gathered into a small pool beneath their bodies silently revealed their desire for food.

The big yellow dog used its sharp teeth to neatly bite open the bag of dog food, and used its claws and teeth to clumsily pour the dog food in the bag onto the ground.

Then, it returned to the house and repeated the same action, dragging out six more bags of dog food, tearing them open and pouring them out.

Throughout the process, the waiting dogs, although restless, miraculously restrained themselves and none of them rushed forward rashly.

This time, the big yellow dog stayed in the house a little longer.

Ji Dongzang watched it laboriously drag out a basin slightly smaller than its head. Inside were four large 5L buckets of mineral water. It again used its claws and teeth to tear open the buckets one by one, until all four buckets of water flowed into the basin.

Then it picked up the broken empty buckets and walked to a corner of the yard.

At this time, Ji Dongzang noticed that there were already a lot of similar empty bags and broken barrels piled up in that corner.

She couldn't help but sigh at Wen Lan's generosity.

It seems that every room here is probably stockpiled with piles of dog food and buckets of water.

After the big yellow dog finished dealing with the "garbage", it returned to the front of the pack, raised one paw comically, and waved it down.

The pack of dogs, who had been unable to contain themselves for a long time, rushed forward like a tide, scrambling and devouring the food frantically.

Only the big yellow dog sat quietly, just like their owner.

It raised its head again and looked towards the wall.

The figure that was squatting there just now has disappeared.

The big yellow dog glanced around the empty eaves, and finally, his gaze fell back on his fellow dog eating in front of him.

Ji Dongzang continued to move forward along the ruins.

She saw several walls with huge gaps in them. Finally, a broken wall that had completely collapsed, not just had a hole in it, blocked her way.

The scene before her made her heart tighten.

This room was smaller, with several cat corpses lying on the ground, also a mixture of mutated cats and ordinary cats.

On top of one of the cow cat corpses stood a huge Tibetan Mastiff!

Its body was two times larger than the mutated cat under its feet, with thick bones and muscular muscles. Just standing there, it exuded a suffocating sense of oppression, shocking all living things around it.

Blocked in front of it were two equally mutated cowcats. Behind them huddled a litter of ordinary rabbits, huddled in fear, clinging to the cowcats for protection.

Not far from them was another group of cats, also led by a cow cat.

Their fur stood on end, and they huddled together, baring their teeth and growling menacingly at the Tibetan Mastiff. One of the two leading cow cats had undergone a transformation, while the other remained unchanged.

The two cow cats, one big and one small, stood at the front of the group, their backs hunched, their bodies tense, staring intently at the huge threat.

Ji Dongzang frowned, gazing at the tense confrontation. The moment the Tibetan Mastiff took another step forward, the two leading cow cats pounced out simultaneously like arrows, fearlessly engaging the Tibetan Mastiff in a fierce, life-threatening fight!

At the same time, two mutated cats rushed out from the cat group like lightning.

A ragdoll and a slightly smaller black cat joined the battle.

Ji Dongzang quickly scanned the group of cats, feeling a bit disappointed. There wasn't a single tabby cat in the group.

Back to the fight.

The black cat was hit hard by the Tibetan Mastiff and was obviously seriously injured. When the Tibetan Mastiff turned around and charged at it again, the black cat cleverly used the collapsed rocks to leap up the low wall and landed right next to Ji Dongzang!

A cat and a man met each other unexpectedly, staring at each other in confusion.

As the black cat approached, Ji Dongzang's muscles tensed instantly. She gripped the axe handle tightly with one hand and gathered strength with her feet, ready to retreat and escape at any moment.

However, the black cat didn't attack. It simply nudged her with its head, its amber eyes anxiously scanning back and forth between Ji Dongzang and the raging battlefield below. The meaning couldn't be clearer: Go down! Help us fight that big guy!

Ji Dongzang realized that there was no malice in the black cat's eyes, and he glanced down at the axe in his hand, which might be okay for chopping wood but was not very suitable for dealing with a giant Tibetan mastiff.

She raised her hand in disgust and pushed away the big furry head with a strong smell of blood and dust that was close to her eyes, intending to continue watching from the sidelines.

It happened in the blink of an eye!

Just as the Tibetan Mastiff opened its bloody mouth and its fangs were about to bite the neck of a cow cat.

Suddenly, a huge push came from Dongzang's back!

She lost her balance, her scream choked in her throat, and she was pushed directly off the low wall!

Inertia carried her two steps forward.

There was no need to look back to know it was the black cat causing trouble.

The situation was pressing, so she had no choice but to rush forward, forcing her way through the gaps between several big cats that were fighting and biting each other. She swung her arms, poured all her strength into the axe handle, and chopped it hard into the thick neck of the Tibetan Mastiff!

She had intended to run away after chopping the things, and not to fight to the end.

Unexpectedly, it is easy to cut in but difficult to pull out!

The Tibetan Mastiff roared in agony, its head thrashing wildly. Following the violent jolt to Dongzang's jaws, the axe handle instantly slipped from her grasp. She reacted with lightning speed, the scalpel gripped tightly in her free hand flashing with a cold gleam as she stabbed it with uncanny precision into the Tibetan Mastiff's right eye, now wide open with fury!

After a successful attack, she immediately used the force of the Tibetan Mastiff's head shaking to bounce back, leaving the bloody battlefield completely back to the roaring beasts, and quickly retreated to the corner, gasping for breath.

She subconsciously looked up at the low wall where she had been perched, but the black cat was nowhere to be seen. She could only suppress her fear and continue watching the battle with bated breath.

The terminator of this brutal battle was the "culprit" black cat.

Unbeknownst to him, it had summoned two nimble tabby cats to join the fray. The three cats coordinated their movements in perfect harmony, like three deadly bolts of black lightning, ultimately dispatching the wounded and exhausted Tibetan Mastiff.

When the dust settled, the blood-covered black cat finally found Ji Dongzang in the corner.

It was clearly feeling guilty, and after a moment's hesitation, it dragged its exhausted body towards her. The black fur around its mouth and cheeks was soaked with Tibetan Mastiff blood. When it reached Ji Dongzang, it actually paused and shook its massive head, as if to preserve its image.

In an instant, warm, fishy and salty blood splashed all over Ji Dongzang's body and face like a sudden rain!

The black cat seemed to realize that it had caused trouble, and felt even more guilty as it moved its wet, bloody head closer to the dark-faced Ji Dongzang in a flattering manner, even stretching out its barbed tongue and trying to lick her blood-stained head.

"Hey!" Ji Dongzang leaned back in despair, holding the restless cat's head tightly with both hands, determined not to let the tongue covered with blood and saliva touch him at all.

Just as the man and the cat were pushing and shoving each other and were at a stalemate.

Two cow cats came over quietly.

One of them was the slightly larger, more stable-looking leader, the cow cat. In its mouth was the axe that Ji Dongzang had stabbed deep into the Tibetan Mastiff's neck and then spun away. It gently placed the axe at Ji Dongzang's feet. The black cat immediately stopped its whining and sat down obediently beside him.

The steady cow cat walked forward, stretched out its front paw, and patted Ji Dongzang's blood-stained shoulder gently with an almost solemn expression.

Its heterochromatic pupils clearly reflected its approval and recognition of Ji Dongzang's "feat" just now.

Ji Dongzang: "..."

For a moment, she almost thought she had strayed into a fairy tale kingdom - the animals here, except for not being able to speak human language, their eyes, movements, cooperation and ways of expressing emotions are even smarter than humans!

Only two weeks after leaving the city, the incredible "rapid evolution" and high degree of organization of these animals made her feel a chill running down her spine. Her mind uncontrollably flashed back to the images of Wang Shanyue and the centipede man she had met not long ago...
