"what happen?"
Lin Jingyu was unaware of what was happening in the village. "Don't rush, let me lock the door first."
"Xiuying, what happened?"
Peng Shiyu from next door came out after hearing the shouting. "I heard you say the village chief is looking for Sister Jingyu?"
"Yes, something happened in our village."
Liu Xiuying explained, "The three children have gone missing in town. We've been searching all morning, and now the village chief and the others suspect that the children have been abducted."
"Call everyone out to help, see if we can find the child."
"What? The child is missing."
Peng Shiyu's expression changed instantly, and she asked anxiously, "What grade is the child? How did you lose the child?"
Liu Xiuying responded, "Two are in second grade and one is in third grade; they are students in your class."
"Shiyu, don't ask any questions yet, quickly lock the door."
Lin Jingyu frowned and ordered, "Let's go over there quickly."
"Okay, I'll lock it right away."
Peng Shiyu quickly ran back and locked her front door.
The three of them immediately ran towards the village committee brigade.
When they arrived, they found that almost everyone in the village had come, including the educated youth, Grandpa Zhang, and Uncle Liu from the cowshed.
Only Grandpa Sun's status makes it inconvenient for him to come.
The mother of three was on the verge of fainting from crying, and she was surrounded by older women who were trying to comfort her.
Lin Jingyu's heart sank.
The 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s were the most chaotic era, and also the era when human traffickers were most rampant.
They don't even spare young women, let alone children.
The prettier the girl, the easier she is to be targeted. These girls who have just come of age are naive and easily deceived. Those who cannot escape their clutches are all sold to remote mountain villages.
Men in such places can't find wives, so they either become old bachelors or spend money to buy girls who have been abducted from outside.
Over the years, countless young women have fallen from heaven to hell, living lives worse than death.
More often than not, they were beaten to death or maimed, losing their lives at a young age.
It's all because of these rampant and vicious human traffickers.
Unfortunately, these villains who deserve to be shot the most have not been included in the death penalty law until the new century.
"Everyone's here, so I won't waste any more time on small talk."
The village chief saw that almost everyone had arrived.
He shouted, "Villagers in each group, follow the instructions of your group leader. We will set off from the town and search every road. Don't miss any place."
Those with bicycles could try chasing after them; they're faster, and might be able to catch up.
Led by their respective group leaders, all the villagers departed in a grand procession.
However, all the educated youth in the educated youth compound stayed behind.
“You come from various cities.”
The village chief cupped his hands in greeting to them and said, "You all know quite a lot. Now that something like this has happened in the village, we hope that you educated youth can help us find the children in the village."
Su Jingtian took the initiative to continue the conversation, "Village Chief, whatever your arrangements are, we will do our best."
“I want you to go to the county town. I’m afraid human traffickers will take a bus to the county town, then transfer to another bus to the city to take a train and leave.”
The village chief expressed his concerns, "Now we can only trouble you educated youth to go to the county town. You are more familiar with things in the city and will find it easier to understand."
"Okay, we can ride our bicycles to the county town first."
Su Jingtian readily agreed, "However, there are only a few bicycles, which may not be enough for all the educated youth to go together."
How about we arrange it like this...?
His gaze shifted to He Zhenhua, Wang Hongliang, and the others. "I'll take a few female educated youths to the town's police station to see if we can borrow a car to take us to the county town."
The others rode bicycles over, hoping to find other clues along the way.
"Village chief, do you think this arrangement is feasible?"
"OK."
The village chief nodded and said to He Zhenhua, "He Zhenhua, would you like to lead the team by bicycle and serve as the team leader?"
"Of course I have no problem."
He Zhenhua readily agreed, and then said, "Village chief, Qiuyue's health isn't suited for traveling. What do you think about her staying in the village?"
"Mu, the educated youth, will stay and take care of your educated youth compound."
The village chief then looked at the others, "If there are any special circumstances, please speak up to avoid any accidents. If there's nothing else, please help us find the children."
"Don't worry, village chief, leave it to us."
Qian Luyuan took the lead in responding.
The other educated youth nodded in agreement.
The educated youth quickly went back and pushed out their own vehicles.
Those educated youth who had bicycles carried people on their backs and headed to the town as quickly as possible.
"You two should stay out of this."
The village chief looked at Grandpa Zhang and Uncle Liu, "We'll wait for news in the village. There are people in the town and the county who can help. We should be able to find the child."
"Village chief, you don't need to worry about us."
Grandpa Zhang waved his hand, "Let's just walk around and see if we can find anything."
"Okay, all of you be careful."
The village chief wouldn't interfere with their actions, but he couldn't help but remind them, "Come back when it gets dark, so everyone won't worry."
"We know what we're doing."
Third Master Liu waved his hand at him.
The two old men walked slowly together toward the edge of the village.
Upon arriving in town, Lin Jingyu and the others went to the police station immediately.
Report the case directly to the police station, and the police will dispatch officers to find the child and arrest the traffickers.
Deputy Director Huo learned that Su Jingtian and his group were planning to go to the county town to find someone, but there was no bus to the county town.
