Chapter 151 Departure

Lu Jingze set off in the morning. Before dawn, he got out of bed quietly, afraid of waking Wang Xiuxiu who was still fast asleep.

After quietly washing up and changing her clothes, she saw Wang Xiuxiu already sitting at the table, preparing a steaming hot breakfast.

"Why are you awake?" Lu Jingze asked, somewhat surprised, his voice carrying a hint of gentleness.

Wang Xiuxiu looked up at him and smiled: "I know you'd be too embarrassed to wake me up, so I specifically asked Xiaoying to wake me up and had the kitchen make dumplings. You're on your way early in the morning, so eat a few to warm yourself up on the road."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jingze's handsome eyebrows curved slightly, and a warm emotion seemed to flow slowly in his eyes.

"Okay, whatever you say."

Lu Jingze walked to the table and sat down. He picked up a dumpling and took a bite. The delicious soup burst in his mouth, and the warmth spread from his stomach to his heart.

---

After seeing Lu Jingze off, Wang Xiuxiu had nothing to do, so she decided to go and sit in Su Yingxue's courtyard.

Upon arriving at Qixia Courtyard, Su Yingxue was sitting on a couch, flipping through an ancient book.

Seeing Wang Xiuxiu enter, she put down the book in her hand and gently patted the empty seat next to her, "Come sit here."

Wang Xiuxiu smiled and quickly walked over, sitting down next to Su Yingxue.

Only when I went closer did I discover a little ball of fluff curled up in the corner.

Lu Yunian had his back to them, sulking, his whole body shrouded in a low-pressure atmosphere.

Seeing this, Wang Xiuxiu lowered her voice and asked, "What's wrong with Yu Nian?"

Upon hearing this, Su Yingxue smiled slightly and replied in a low voice, "Yesterday he kept saying he wanted to get up early to see the prince off. My wet nurse and I just thought he was just kidding and didn't take it seriously. In the end, he was upset because he couldn't see him off."

Wang Xiuxiu found the explanation amusing.

She quietly stood up and tiptoed behind the little dumpling who was constantly radiating resentment.

Taking advantage of his unpreparedness, Wang Xiuxiu suddenly reached out and picked up the little guy, even playfully lifting him up a bit.

After being tossed around like this, the little dumpling, who had been keeping quiet, finally couldn't help but protest, "Auntie! Auntie, let me go!"

Wang Xiuxiu ignored his struggles and instead teased him, "Oh my, our Nian-ge'er's lips are so pouty, you could almost hang an oil bottle on them!"

Lu Yunian couldn't care less about being angry at this moment. His delicate, fair face turned bright red, like a ripe apple, and he shyly hid in Wang Xiuxiu's arms.

After a long while, the little guy muttered, "Auntie is bad!"

Wang Xiuxiu laughed, Su Yingxue laughed, and even Granny Li, who was watching the commotion from the side, laughed.

For a moment, the whole room was filled with cheerful laughter.

Hearing the bursts of laughter, Lu Yunian became even more annoyed.

So he puffed out his cheeks and angrily bumped his little head against Wang Xiuxiu.

Lu Yunian is a sensible little guy. Even if he was very angry, he would hold back his strength and act gently.

But Wang Xiuxiu was a wicked woman, and she took the opportunity to pull him down onto the couch, clutching her chest and crying out incessantly, "Ouch, ouch."

The innocent and kind-hearted Lu Yunian had never seen such a scene before, and was immediately frightened. He used both his hands and feet to crawl to Wang Xiuxiu's side.

"Auntie, Auntie! Are you alright?" the little one asked anxiously, his eyes full of worry.

Seeing how nervous the little guy looked, Wang Xiuxiu secretly glanced at him and saw that he was already close enough. Suddenly, she sat up with a jolt, hugged Lu Yunian tightly, and tickled him vigorously.

Well, Lu Jinyu, who was initially worried, was now laughing and crying at the same time, with tears and snot streaming down his face.

He struggled to escape Wang Xiuxiu's "clutches" while giggling and begging for mercy.

And so, the two of them played and joked around for quite a while before finally stopping.

Lu Yunian was panting heavily, but he was no longer angry. He just leaned against Wang Xiuxiu and muttered softly, "My aunt is so mean, she always bullies me!"

Wang Xiuxiu gently pinched his little cheek and laughed, "Who else would your auntie bully if not our Jinnian who's so adorable?"

Su Yingxue watched this scene with tenderness in her eyes.

She gently stroked Lu Yunian's hair and said softly, "Alright, Yunian, don't be angry. Next time your father goes out, your mother will definitely call you early, okay?"

Lu Yunian nodded in satisfaction, a smile returning to his face.

"Mother, Aunt, how long will Father be gone? What will I do if I miss him?" Lu Yunian pouted, her face full of bitterness.

Wang Xiuxiu pulled the person closer, "Don't frown, a child who frowns a lot is more likely to turn into an old man!"

Upon hearing these words, Lu Yunian pouted.

"Alright, alright, your aunt won't tease you anymore. If you miss Lu... if you miss your father, you can write him a letter!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the little guy's eyes lit up with surprise, and he shouted excitedly, "Write a letter!"

"That's right, hasn't Yu Nian learned a lot of characters? Writing a letter should be easy for him, right?"

“Yes, yes, yes! I can do it! Auntie, I’ll go write the letter right now!” Lu Yunian nodded, responding like a chick pecking at rice.

As he spoke, he couldn't wait to break free from Wang Xiuxiu's embrace and jump down to find paper and ink to write a letter.

"No rush, no rush. Your father has only just set off and hasn't received your letter yet."

Upon hearing this, Lu Yunian's initial enthusiasm vanished almost instantly, and he looked at Wang Xiuxiu with a pitiful expression.

"Then...then Aunt, when exactly will I be able to write a letter to Father?"

"Soon! Your mother will inform you when the time comes!"

As he spoke, he cast a pleading look at Su Yingxue.

The little boy looked at his mother with expectant eyes. Su Yingxue smiled and nodded, saying, "I'll have your aunt accompany you to write a letter to your father later."

"Yay! Yay! Yu Nian is going to write a letter with his aunt!"

Lu Jinnian cheered with joy, while Wang Xiuxiu looked at Su Yingxue with a somewhat incredulous expression.

That look seemed to say: I helped you soothe the child, and you betrayed me!

Su Yingxue covered her face and chuckled, while Lu Yunian, not getting a response for a long time, started to shake Wang Xiuxiu's arm and act coquettishly.

Wang Xiuxiu: ……
