Chapter 14 Cute creatures appear

"Wow, you certainly know how to enjoy life!" Wang Xiuxiu couldn't help but laugh as she looked at the little squirrel in front of her.

As if sensing Wang Xiuxiu's kindness, the little squirrel became unusually quiet and well-behaved today, even obediently raising its legs to let Wang Xiuxiu apply medicine to it.

Its fur is soft and smooth, its tail is fluffy like a small broom, and its black grape-like eyes dart around, making it look exceptionally clever.

"Hello, little one, my name is Wang Xiuxiu," Wang Xiuxiu said softly, afraid of disturbing the little creature.

"You probably don't have a name, right? Since you're just killing time, I'll give you one! Let me think, what should I call you?" Wang Xiuxiu stared intently at the adorable little squirrel in front of her, her heart filled with affection.

It blinked its big eyes, looking adorable, as if responding to her words.

Just then, an idea flashed through her mind, and Wang Xiuxiu said happily, "Haha, I'll call you Songsong!"

To further test whether Songsong was docile and friendly, Wang Xiuxiu carefully reached out and gently removed the fruit from its mouth. Then, she slowly placed her hand, which was wrapped in cloth like a thick rice dumpling, near its mouth.

At first, Songsong just watched Wang Xiuxiu's movements quietly, but did not open her mouth to bite her.

Seeing this, Wang Xiuxiu became a little bolder and stretched her hand forward again.

This time, Songsong simply turned her head away.

Hmm! It really doesn't bite! It's a well-behaved and sensible squirrel!

Wang Xiuxiu was secretly delighted and completely relieved. She found a clean piece of cloth, carefully laid it in her sewing basket, and put Songsong into this makeshift little nest.

---

The next morning, still half asleep, Wang Xiuxiu vaguely felt as if a pair of eyes were staring intently at her.

She struggled to open her eyes, and as soon as she did, a face that looked exactly like a rat appeared right in front of her!

"My God!" Wang Xiuxiu was so shocked she almost lost her mind.

After a while, when she finally came to her senses, she realized that the one staring at her was none other than the little squirrel she had kindly taken in—Songsong.

"Hey, why are you staring at me like that? Are you trying to scare me to death?!" Wang Xiuxiu complained irritably.

As if Songsong understood her words, a wronged expression appeared on its fluffy little face.

Seeing it bury its head deep between its forelimbs, like a child who has done something wrong and trying to avoid being scolded, Wang Xiuxiu's heart immediately softened.

"Oh dear, oh dear, I was wrong, I was wrong. I shouldn't have scolded you so loudly. Don't feel wronged..." Wang Xiuxiu said softly, gently stroking Songsong's head.

It took a long time to coax Songsong before she finally rubbed her face and touched her belly.

Are you hungry?

Songsong touched her belly again.

Okay, okay, it's confirmed, this little guy is really hungry.

So she tiptoed into the kitchen, looked around, and finally fixed her gaze on a small jar of peanuts in the corner.

This was what Wang Degui usually ate when drinking. Wang Xiuxiu reached out and secretly grabbed a small handful from it.

"Come here, little guy, here's some peanuts for you."

Songsong first sniffed the aroma of the peanuts, and then eagerly opened her little mouth and began to chew them with relish.

In no time at all, he had eaten all the peanuts in Wang Xiuxiu's hand.

After eating and drinking to her heart's content, Songsong first let out a satisfied burp, then wobbled back to the sewing basket, lifted her little feet, and lay down comfortably inside.

What a squirrel that only knows how to enjoy life!

Wang Xiuxiu spent the entire day doing embroidery in her room.

Unlike usual, today there was a cute little girl named Songsong keeping her company.

---

As the days went by, Wang Xiuxiu grew accustomed to Songsong's company.

Under Wang Xiuxiu's meticulous care, Songsong's injuries gradually healed, and the squirrel became more and more lively and adorable.

Despite her deep reluctance, Wang Xiuxiu ultimately decided to release it back into the mountains.

That's its home; only in the mountains and forests can it truly be free.

That morning, sunlight streamed through the window, bathing the room in a golden glow.

Wang Xiuxiu gently picked up Songsong, slowly walked out of the house, and headed towards the distant mountains and forests.

Along the way, Songsong seemed to sense something and kept twisting his body, trying to break free from Wang Xiuxiu's embrace.

Wang Xiuxiu used some force to press it into her arms.

When they reached the edge of the forest, they squatted down and gently placed Songsong on the ground.

She gently stroked Songsong's head. "Go on, Songsong, go find your friends."

Upon hearing this, Songsong looked up at Wang Xiuxiu, but soon it turned around and ran off into the depths of the forest.

Watching Songsong's small figure gradually disappear into the distance, Wang Xiuxiu felt extremely disappointed.

That heartless brat! After spending so many days with me, he hasn't even looked back at me!

Wang Xiuxiu felt disappointed, and her mood became somewhat depressed.

However, the Wang family had become so used to ignoring her that none of them noticed anything amiss.

Wang Xiuxiu's gaze fell on the sewing basket beside the bed. Seeing it only intensified her frustration.

Out of sight, out of mind, she simply reached out and pushed the sewing box further away.

---

The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight streamed into the room through the window, Wang Xiuxiu was surprised to find that the sewing box she had thrown away the day before had somehow returned to her bedside.

Wang Xiuxiu was full of doubts. She went over and opened it. Inside, there was a fluffy little guy named Songsong!

Songsong was fast asleep, hugging its tail tightly, occasionally letting out soft snoring sounds.

Looking at the window that was slightly ajar, Wang Xiuxiu suddenly realized that the little guy had climbed in through the window last night.

From that day on, during the day, Songsong would run out to play along the path behind the mountain.

When night falls, it rushes back like a bird returning to its nest, plunging headfirst into Wang Xiuxiu's sewing box and drifting comfortably into sleep.

Wang Xiuxiu scolded Songsong for taking over her place, but at the same time she couldn't help but secretly love the cute little thing. She even made a luxurious little nest for it herself.

The soft little nest was exactly what Songsong loved. He was as excited as a child, and couldn't wait to jump in, happily wriggling around everywhere.

Gong was so happy that he even jumped onto Wang Xiuxiu and enthusiastically performed all sorts of cute and playful little actions for her.

Its adorable little appearance made Wang Xiuxiu laugh out loud.

But Songsong wasn't always so well-behaved and obedient.

One time it came back a little late, and Wang Xiuxiu fell asleep and forgot to open the window for it.

The next day, the little guy didn't go out to play during the day either, but just puffed out his chubby face and breathed on himself.

To appease it, Wang Xiuxiu even stole some sunflower seeds from her home.

---

However, this happy period didn't last long. One day, Songsong suddenly disappeared.

After disappearing for several days, Wang Xiuxiu even went to the edge of the forest, but still couldn't find Songsong.

Her mood plummeted, and she was absent-minded all day, unable to even muster any interest in embroidery.

Just when Wang Xiuxiu was about to give up hope, Songsong suddenly reappeared.

Not only did he bring back himself, but he also brought back an injured little bird.

Songsong patted Wang Xiuxiu, and then touched the little bird's wings.

"Is this your friend? Did you bring it back hoping I would save it?"

Wang Xiuxiu understood Songsong's intention, carefully took the little bird, and began to treat it.

In the days that followed, Wang Xiuxiu and Songsong took care of the little bird together until it recovered and flew back to the mountains.

Since Songsong came to my side, time seems to have become less long and unbearable.

Every morning, she wakes up to the gentle tickling.

Songsong seemed particularly interested in Wang Xiuxiu's embroidery, often squatting beside her, watching intently as the needle and thread moved through her hands.

Wang Xiuxiu would occasionally stop to explain some embroidery techniques to Songsong. Although she knew Songsong wouldn't understand, such interactions made her feel incredibly warm.

In short, as time went on, the tacit understanding between Wang Xiuxiu and Songsong deepened.

Songsong is very intelligent and perceptive. Not only has it learned to play by itself while Wang Xiuxiu is busy, but it will also rub against her with its fluffy little body to comfort her when she is feeling down.

Wang Xiuxiu gradually discovered that with Songsong's company, she no longer felt as lonely and isolated as before.
