The six of them ate until their bellies were full, and left the restaurant contentedly, rubbing their bulging tummies. "Tomorrow we'll go see the Outer Eight Temples. Today we'll go shopping and buy some clothes. We'll wash them this afternoon, so maybe we can wear them tomorrow," Su Le planned the rest of the trip in an orderly manner.
"Okay, what are the Outer Eight Temples?" Xu Jiaojiao asked again curiously with her eyes full of curiosity.
"There are eight temples in total, like Puning Temple." Su Le responded concisely.
"Let's stay a few more days. I want to drink that almond tea tomorrow." Xu Jiaojiao felt unsatisfied when she thought of the sweet and delicate almond tea in the morning. She was looking forward to drinking it again.
"Mom, I don't want to eat tofu pudding tomorrow. I also want almond tea." Su Nuoyi said hurriedly.
"Okay, okay, I get it." Xu Jiaojiao responded with a smile, her eyes full of doting.
Several people walked into the clothing store. Su Le and Xu Jiaojiao enthusiastically tried on clothes, one after another, looking at them repeatedly in the mirror. Soon, they bought five sets of clothes, and Li Zichen also quickly picked out two sets of clothes.
Next, it was the three children's turn to choose clothes. They happily ran around the store, carefully selecting the styles they liked. In the end, Li Zichen paid. "I'll have to keep a record of the items when I get back to Beijing. You have to reimburse me when you get back." Li Xueyao and Su Nuoyi each bought five skirts, spending a total of 100 yuan. Li Chuyang selected three outfits for 30 yuan. (This was Su Le's own branch, and the clothes there were more modern.)
Li Chuyang looked around the shoe store, but unfortunately there were no shoes of the style he liked. He couldn't help but shook his head in disappointment.
They returned home contentedly, washed their clothes, and went to sleep. Sunoy wrote down everything he had seen that day and the history Su Le had told him, stroke by stroke, in a neat and clear manner.
In the evening, a few people walked around again, looking for delicious food, and each person spent about 2 yuan.
At the end of the day, Li Xueyao and Li Chuyang were left with only 29 cents. Su Nuoyi didn't carefully count the money she had on her. She always kept some pocket money on hand, just in case. If it wasn't enough, she would borrow money from Xu Jiaojiao and pay her back later.
In the morning, everyone was refreshed and dressed in new clothes, their new clothes making them look even more radiant. Su Le also pulled a camera from his bag to record their trip. After breakfast, the six of them all enjoyed sweet big fruit and almond tea and happily set off towards the Eight Great Temples.
First, we visited the Arhat Hall. This temple is solemn and awe-inspiring, its vermilion gate exuding an ancient charm. Stepping through the threshold, we were greeted by a vibrant array of Arhat statues, each in its own unique form. Some sat in deep thought, others stood with their heads held high, some with furious eyes, and some with benevolent expressions. The children stared around with wide eyes, their mouths agape with curiosity, their lips punctuated with exclamations of surprise. Su Le softly recounted the legends and stories of the Arhats, Xu Jiaojiao listening intently, while Li Zichen busily took photos. The temple was filled with the faint scent of sandalwood, evoking a sense of tranquility and peace. Sunlight filtered through the windows, casting a patchwork of light and shadow on the ground, as if whispering the passage of time.
Everyone immersed themselves in the solemn atmosphere of the Arhat Hall for a long time before slowly leaving.
Next, they arrived at Puning Temple. This magnificent temple, with its soaring eaves and arched columns, exudes a majestic aura. As soon as they enter, the distant sound of bells echoes through their ears, stirring their hearts.
The children looked curiously at the Buddha statues and murals in the temple. Li Xueyao pointed to a mural and asked, "Mom, what's painted on it?" Su Le patiently explained, "This painting depicts a Buddhist story. It tells..."
Xu Jiaojiao and Li Zichen clasped their hands together and made wishes devoutly in front of the Buddha statue.
After leaving Puning Temple, they went to Putuo Zongcheng Temple. This temple was built into the mountainside, with a well-proportioned layout. Ascending the steps, the surrounding scenery was breathtaking.
"Wow, it's so beautiful here!" Sunoy couldn't help but exclaim.
Li Chuyang also ran around excitedly, exploring this mysterious temple.
As the sun sets, the golden afterglow shines on them, and the day's tour is coming to an end.
"Today was really fulfilling, but I haven't seen enough." Li Xueyao said with a lingering look.
"Let's continue shopping tomorrow." Su Le said with a smile.
Back at home, although we were a little tired, we were in a very good mood. After dinner, the children fell asleep quickly, and the adults sat in the yard, enjoying the quiet night.
The next day, they visited other temples, including the Xumi Fushou Temple, and experienced different architectural styles and cultural heritage at each location.
During these few days of tour, the children not only broadened their horizons, but also gained a deeper understanding of history and culture.
On the last day, Su Le planned to rest up before heading off to their next destination. Li Zichen and the three children enjoyed a simple yet heartwarming breakfast at a shop not far downstairs before returning home. Su Nuoyi obediently followed Li Zichen back to their house.
By the time Xu Jiaojiao and Su Le woke up, it was already noon, with the sun high in the sky. As soon as Xu Jiaojiao opened her eyes, she saw a note Su Nuoyi had left at home. It was neatly written: "Mom, I had breakfast with my uncle, brother Yangyang, and sister Yaoyao. I'll be back soon." Xu Jiaojiao finally felt at ease. After washing up, she went to Su Le's room.
Su Le had already packed up. She gently applied a simple, fresh, and pleasant makeup to Xu Jiaojiao, and then carefully applied a delicate and beautiful makeup to herself. Then, hand in hand, they went out to find some delicious food. The two of them strolled around the area leisurely, enjoying the unique local customs and culture.
In the afternoon, they took the children to buy tickets. Their next stop was the ancient city of Pingyao.
After buying their tickets, the children excitedly clamored to go play in the children's playground. Li Zichen, beaming, led the three of them to the playground. Su Le and Xu Jiaojiao bought some snacks and brought them inside. They found a comfortable spot to sit down, enjoying their snacks and chatting happily.
In the evening, the family had a simple meal and returned to their residence to rest and reserve energy for their journey to a new place tomorrow.
The next day, bright sunlight streamed through the window, dappling the room.
They savored another feast of sweet, fragrant fruits paired with delicate almond tea before hurriedly rushing to the station to catch their train. Li Xueyao and Li Chuyang each carried their own carefully selected suitcases, neatly packing their clothes. They didn't want to spend any more money on clothes, as they wouldn't wear them much after all. Under Su Le and Li Zichen's careful guidance, the two little ones had already learned to save when necessary and enjoy food when it was appropriate.
