Chapter 8 A Candlelight Dinner for Two

Li Ruoshan's pupils contracted slightly; she saw it—!

The head maid, Eiffel, whom I had just met, was a step behind.

Walking in front of her were Gu Xinghe and a woman whose face she couldn't see clearly.

At first glance, her face was shrouded in an impenetrable mist.

After staring for a long time.

A buzzing sound echoed in my brain, as if giving a warning.

Li Ruoshan quickly looked away, not daring to look any longer.

Recalling the way the waiters had suddenly fallen silent earlier.

Li Ruoshan could roughly guess that the other party might be the owner of this ancient castle.

She held Gu Xinghe's arm intimately, and the two showed great affection for each other.

It didn't seem to resemble the terrifying and bizarre appearance he had imagined.

The two men didn't look like a butler and his master; they seemed more like the master and mistress of the house who had come to inspect their castle.

Or perhaps it's a noble couple attending the dinner party.

Li Ruoshan felt that the jealousy that had been buried deep in her heart had been stirred up again.

Before she even realized it, the blackness deep in her pupils deepened even further.

She still doesn't know Chris's real name.

But now she only felt that the other person was looking at her from two different angles as they walked.

It pierced straight through the mist and landed heavily on him.

His gaze was cold and arrogant, yet it carried a condescending pity.

But when she came to her senses, she found that Gu Xinghe and Chris had already turned and left.

They didn't actually notice her presence; it seemed that everything that had just happened was just her imagination.

But she couldn't suppress her thoughts.

It was as if she had fallen into a swamp of malice, and something was dragging her deeper and deeper.

...

While accompanying Chris to observe the progress in the banquet hall.

Gu Xinghe activated his skill again, attempting to listen to the thoughts of everyone present.

Aside from the fact that Li Ruoshan, the player who entered the manor with him, seemed to be in a somewhat strange state.

The rest of the people, like Eiffel, are all beings who cannot hear their own thoughts.

But as always, everyone remained loyal to him.

Are all the servants in the entire manor, except for Chris, puppets?

"The arrangements for the banquet are progressing smoothly."

Based on the current progress, there should be no problem with the banquet taking place smoothly in six days.

Elf, the head maid who was a step behind Gu Xinghe and Chris, dutifully reported the progress of the banquet arrangements to her master.

Chris narrowed her eyes slightly and glanced at everyone present.

Everyone, including Li Ruoshan, involuntarily lowered their heads.

Li Ruoshan's body trembled, and she felt once again being watched by some terrifying being.

Chris nodded slightly, seemingly satisfied with everyone's progress.

Then, she turned her head away and stopped paying attention, leaning on Gu Xinghe as they walked toward the small restaurant.

Although it's called a small restaurant, its interior space is actually quite large.

A magnificent crystal chandelier hangs from the ceiling of the restaurant, and valuable paintings adorn the walls.

Vibrant fresh flowers adorn the dining table.

As the two stepped into the restaurant, melodious music began to play.

The waiter standing to one side of the table was playing the violin.

Melodious notes danced and leaped throughout the restaurant.

It was not the long table where Gu Xinghe had imagined would clearly distinguish between host and guest.

What's now in the restaurant is more like a square table for a romantic candlelight dinner.

Unlike the distance between the host and guests at a long table.

The square tables are spaced close together, making them ideal for two people to whisper to each other.

The table was filled with the subtle aroma of wine, and the candlelight flickered brightly.

Judging from the tableware and seating arrangement, this dinner was enjoyed by only Gu Xinghe and Chris.

Only a few waiters remained in the restaurant, waiting for the food to be served.

A violinist and head maid Eiffel.

Chris glanced at the red velvet chair and winked at Gu Xinghe.

Gu Xinghe pulled out a chair for Chris, who naturally sat down.

As Gu Xinghe walked toward the seat opposite Chris, Eiffel, who had been following behind the two, had already pulled out a chair for him.

Then, Eiffel picked up a bottle of wine from the table, showed it to the two of them, and poured out the wine with professional technique.

The candlelight was dim, and the music beside me began to become soft and lingering.

The sound of wine being slowly poured into a glass seemed to add a touch of ambiguity to the atmosphere.

"Serve the food."

As Chris finished speaking, two servants served the two of them the dishes.

"bite"

The two raised their glasses and clinked them together.

In this atmosphere, even though no alcohol has been consumed, one can already feel somewhat intoxicated.

White wine has a smooth and non-irritating taste.

Then it slowly releases a unique fruity and rose-like fragrance.

"It's made from grapes grown on the estate."

"If you like, there are some at the small bar in your room too."

Looking at the dishes on the table, Gu Xinghe had to admit more and more that Chris's past life really did seem to have involved him.

He loves seafood, but he's too lazy to peel it.

As she was thinking this, Chris had already peeled a shrimp, dipped it in sauce, and fed it to Gu Xinghe.

Slender, fair fingers suddenly appeared before my eyes.

[Damn it, I accidentally made this a habit in my past life...]

Gu Xinghe was a little surprised, but he saw that the other person seemed to realize what he had done and wanted to withdraw his hand immediately.
