Chapter 6 What is a witch doctor?
The night is very quiet, yet danger is everywhere.
"Snap——" Bai Yue couldn't stand it anymore after slapping another mosquito to death. Didn't they say that the snow would come soon?
Why is there still no movement after so long?
Just as she was thinking, she heard footsteps in the distance. Bai Yue quickly stood up and whispered, "Is that you, Xue?"
"It's her." The speaker was a masculine voice, which scared Bai Yue so much that he pressed himself against the wall of the cave.
Fortunately, the male still had snow on his back.
The latter was in very bad condition, his face was pale and his calf was bleeding.
"You are injured!" Bai Yue stepped forward, wanting to help her, but didn't know where to start.
Xue pushed the male in front of her, signaling him to put her down.
"Nothing serious."
Bai Yue frowned.
Although she was not smart, she would never believe that Xue's injury was not serious.
It’s just that it’s modern here and anyone injured can be sent to the hospital.
but...
[System, do you have medicine?] Bai Yue asked the system for help in her mind.
"I don't have medicine, but I can scan the wound and tell me what medicine can cure it."
[Okay.] Bai Yue couldn't think of a better way except this.
Bai Yue approached Xue who was sitting on the ground and waited for the scan before speaking: "Um, Xue, I can help you."
Xue raised her head and looked at her, her eyes still without any fluctuation.
"Okay." What Bai Yue didn't expect was that Xue agreed without questioning her.
Bai Yue was stunned for a moment, then quickly told her plan. When Xue heard that she was going to use herbs, her brows seemed to frown even deeper.
"Do you know any herbs?" Before Xue could say anything, the male next to her interrupted.
The voice attracted Bai Yue. She looked at the male in front of her. His hair was white, so it was very likely a male white fox.
Seeing her alert face and the look as if she didn't know him, Cang suddenly remembered that his father said that Bai Yue fell on the mountain and her brain became not working well after waking up.
Originally he thought it was just a casual remark by his father, but he didn't expect that Bai Yue really had a brain injury.
"I'm Cang, a white fox orc. According to seniority, you have to call me brother."
"Brother?" Sensing the other party's goodwill, Bai Yue called out tentatively.
This shout made Cang even more certain that she was out of her mind, because Bai Yue in front of him could only call him an idiot.
"Ahem, brother is here."
"Brother, can you accompany me to the mountain? Xue needs to stop bleeding." Bai Yue glanced sideways at Xue, whose wound was still bleeding, with worry in her eyes.
The system had just explained to her in her mind that females in the orc world were extremely weak. Without males, it would be difficult for females to recover after being injured, and even the bleeding would be difficult to stop.
"No need to go to the mountain." Xue interrupted their conversation, her voice not sounding like that of a wounded female at all.
"But your injury..."
"There are herbs in this cave. See if there is anything you can use." Xue said.
After asking the system and being told that there was no impact, Bai Yue hurried in to look for herbs. Even with the system, it still took her nearly ten minutes to find all the herbs.
She used a stone to mix several herbs together, and then carefully applied it to Xue's wound. After a while, the bleeding stopped.
This scene surprised Xue slightly, and her calm pupils finally showed some movement. Even a witch doctor couldn't create a herbal remedy to stop bleeding so quickly.
"You..." She seemed to want to ask something, but she started and didn't continue.
Bai Yue breathed a sigh of relief after waiting for a while without being questioned. If she was really asked, she wouldn't know what excuse to make.
"Xue. What exactly happened?" After calming down, Bai Yue wanted to get information about the White Fox Tribe from someone who knew the inside story.
Xue didn't want to hide it from her and said, "The tribe was attacked by stray orcs, and many females were captured."
Just when Bai Yue was about to ask further questions, the system in her mind suddenly assigned a new task.
[Ding Dong - Please scan 20 plants, no duplications. Do you want to accept?]
[Reward: The whereabouts of the female white fox.]
The whereabouts of the female white foxes? Bai Yue suddenly realized that the wandering orcs had captured quite a few female white foxes during this sneak attack.
Thinking of the cruel methods of the wandering orcs in the novel, she couldn't help but shiver for a few seconds.
"Xue. You believe me..."
"Bai Yue. We need your help." When Bai Yue spoke, Xue's voice also came out.
But her words made Bai Yue a little confused.
"Can I help?"
"Yes." Xue nodded. "When the witch doctor left, he told us that we can ask you anything we don't understand. You can give us the best answers, so please help us."
In fact, Xue didn't think highly of Bai Yue, or rather, no one thought highly of her.
A female who had committed many evil deeds in the past in order to form an alliance with the witch doctor had no credibility in the entire White Fox Tribe.
But the person who told her this was a witch doctor, so she had to believe it.
Bai Yue looked at Xue and saw a light in her eyes that she had never seen before.
"Please help us." Compared with other races, the White Fox Tribe is extremely vulnerable.
The white fox orcs do not have a strong physique or powerful supernatural powers, and there is only one witch doctor in each generation.
They had almost no ability to resist the fearless wandering orcs.
Bai Yue looked at her.
For some reason, I didn't have the slightest thought of refusing.
"I'll help you. But..."
"Just what?"
"I have to find twenty different plants before that."
“What are you looking for plants for?”
"As a sacrifice to the Beast God." Bai Yue made up an excuse.
"..." Xue suddenly regretted it. Maybe she had lost her mind just now, otherwise why would she place her hopes on Bai Yue.
Besides, how could a beast god be a vegetarian?
...
White Fox Tribe,
This small to medium-sized tribe, guarded by witch doctors, has never been in such a mess as it is today.
All the caves were looted, and all the supplies that could not be taken away were burned.
Some white fox orcs were trampled under the feet of stray orcs and groaned in pain. There were no females to be seen, but there were a few cubs that had not yet transformed.
"Where are the remaining females in your tribe?" Suddenly, a tall male among the wandering orcs stood up and chopped off the hand of one of the white fox orcs without saying a word.
Before the latter could scream, a handful of mud was stuffed into his mouth.
The tall man spoke again: "See? If you don't tell me, you will end up like him."
"Bah! If you want to kill me, then kill me. You still want to get our females? You might as well go back to the forest and continue to dream!" One of the white fox orcs cursed.
Wandering orcs have no tribes and most live in the forest.
Firstly, they were unruly, and secondly, no tribe was willing to accept them.
Obviously, these words were like a thorn that pierced deeply into the hearts of the wandering orcs.
"Very good. I like orcs like you who are not afraid of death. This way I will feel more satisfied when I kill you." As he said that, the tall orc grabbed the white fox orc's hair and pointed the bone knife in his hand at his neck.
"Haha." The white fox orc sneered: "Then hurry up and make me a sacrifice to the Beast God, and you will wait for the punishment from the witch doctor."
As soon as he finished speaking, the body of the white fox orc separated and blood splattered on the tall man's face.
He wiped the blood off his face with his bare chest: "Witch doctor? What kind of person is a witch doctor!"
The wandering orc's arrogant tone reached the ears of the remaining white fox orcs. Seeing that one orc was insulting the witch doctor without knowing his place, they all rebelled.
Soon, the sound of bones colliding with bone knives could be heard on the ground.
On a hill not far away stood several wandering orcs who were watching the show. "Chief, have you killed them all?"
One of the males, a scarred and menacing-looking man, asked, "What else? Keep it for you to marry?"
No one dared to talk back to him.
Until he turned and left: "It's all dealt with. The person I'm looking for is not here."
