Chapter 12 Moving, New Neighbors

The neighbors thought that anyone who could buy such a large yard must be a very respectable family.

Several neighbors were secretly looking forward to meeting the family, hoping to curry favor and gain some benefits.

But when they saw Yu Meijuan and Yu Zihan, they were dumbfounded.

Were these two people the ones who bought that large yard? Something must have gone wrong.

How did these two people come up with such a large sum of money? You have to remember that in 1985, when the average wage was around 50 yuan, saving up 3,000 yuan would have required five or six years of starvation.

So they had wild guesses about how the two people in front of them could have so much money.

"Big sister, what did you buy?" A woman about the same age as Yu Meijuan walked up to them seductively and blocked their way.

Yu Zihan really disliked people with no sense of boundaries and wanted to retort immediately. But Yu Meijuan responded politely, "I just bought some daily necessities for the family. It's nothing."

Yu Meijuan then said, "My dear, we just moved here and have a lot of things to pack. Let's wait until we have cleaned up the house before we formally get to know our neighbors." The woman didn't know what to say in response to Yu Meijuan's obvious refusal.

But she still felt a little unwilling in her heart. How could such a person live in such a big yard while her family of seven or eight people had to live in a very small yard.

She curled her lips and said, "Go ahead."

People found her words funny, as if she could decide whether people went or not. Under people's gazes, mother and daughter entered their yard.

As soon as they walked in, they could smell the delicious aroma of food. Although they had bread and milk to fill their stomachs these days and were not starving, the smell of normal food made Yu Zihan drool.

Grandma Luo came out of the kitchen wearing an exquisite apron and said to them, "You're back. Since we have such a fate, let's try my cooking today. Go wash your hands."

Hearing Grandma Luo's words, Yu Zihan and her daughter looked at each other. Grandma Luo treated them like this. She was the first person who showed kindness to them since they came to Qingcheng. They gladly accepted this kindness.

"Okay, I smelled the fragrance of food before I even entered the door. It turned out to be Grandma Luo's cooking. Grandma Luo is so amazing." Yu Zihan said this playfully and ran into the house to wash her hands.

After washing her hands, Yu Meijuan planned to help with the cooking, but Grandma Luo had already put the food on the table. At this time, Old Luo also came out. He asked the mother and daughter to sit down, helped Grandma Luo take off her apron, and sat down at the table together.

Yu Zihan was very envious of the way the two old people got along with each other. It was a very lucky thing that they could support each other and accompany each other until they were old.

"Today, it is fate given by God that we can sit together and have a meal. I hope you like the food." Mr. Luo said, looking at the mother and daughter.

Then the couple started eating first. Yu Zihan and Yu Meijuan didn't say much, they just quietly savored the food in front of them.

The food cooked by Grandma Luo was delicious, but the taste was a little bland. Yu Zihan guessed that Grandma Luo was from the south based on her accent and taste.

They were just casual acquaintances, and it wasn't certain they would see each other again after this meeting, so it was better for them to keep a certain distance. Yu Meijuan and Yu Zihan finished their meal politely.

Although they didn't pay much attention to table manners, they maintained a certain level of refinement and did what they were supposed to do. They didn't cross the line, which made the old couple look up to them even more.

After a quiet meal, Yu Zihan took over the task of clearing the dishes. Yu Meijuan had nothing to say to the two of them, so she also joined in the dishwashing under the pretext of helping to clean up.

At night, back in her room, Yu Zihan suggested that her mother and she take a shower first. Although they weren't really dirty, they definitely weren't very clean or fresh.

Fortunately, there was a wooden barrel in the house, and Yu Zihan boiled hot water over and over again.

Thinking that they already had their own house, Yu Zihan took out the shampoo, shower gel, laundry detergent, soap, toilet soap, basic skin care products, toothpaste and toothbrushes that were previously stored in the space and placed them next to it.

Yu Zihan also took out all the underwear, sanitary napkins, warm autumn clothes, socks and other things that they could use at the moment from the space.

The two of them took a nice bath and then changed into new underwear and warm autumn clothes.

The mother and daughter looked at each other's faces and were both shocked by each other's stunning beauty.

"Mom, you're so beautiful." Yu Zihan praised her mother generously. In this life, she wanted to be a person with a good mouth, especially when it came to those she wanted to love and protect, she had to be generous in giving them beautiful compliments.

"My daughter is pretty. Mom is so lucky that I gave birth to you." Yu Meijuan looked at the shadow of the man that vaguely appeared on her daughter's face, and she fell into her own thoughts.

After Zi Han had packed up everything, she saw her mother still lost in thought, occasionally revealing the faintest smile. She didn't disturb her mother, thinking that maybe her mother had someone she loved, and that person might be her biological father.

No matter what happens, Yu Zihan lives her life according to her own plan. She understands that in the real world, relying on oneself is more reliable than relying on others. Only when one is strong enough can one live a carefree and confident life.
