Chapter 157 Meeting Old Friends

Yu Zihan brought Pei Shuyan and Zhou Bingxuan and followed Secretary Chen Hui to Yue Feng's office.

Yu Zihan and the others saw a different Yue Feng. His imposing aura had been removed, giving off a gentle and refined air.

"Hello, Mayor." The three of them greeted Yue Feng politely as they entered the door.

"It's time to get off work. You don't have to be so serious. Just call me Uncle Yue. I'm your father's good friend. We haven't seen each other for a few years." Yue Feng said with a sigh.

When Yu Zihan heard this, he thought that his father’s good friend was actually the mayor.

"Thank you, Uncle Yue. If Uncle Yue hadn't stepped in this time, I can't imagine what the outcome would have been." After Yu Zihan finished speaking, the three of them bowed to Yue Feng to express their gratitude.

Yue Feng said seriously, "I want to thank you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have known such a criminal gang existed. Their presence has a very negative impact on the city. The clothing wholesale market is a recently developed industry in our city. We must not only support it with policies but also protect it from all aspects. If these pests are not eradicated in time, we will suffer immeasurable losses."

After listening to the mayor's words, Yu Zihan and others thought to themselves that he was indeed a leader, as he had a far-reaching view of problems and could link everything to economic development, people's livelihood and other issues.

Seeing the expressions of the children, Yue Feng also felt that he had some occupational disease. He originally wanted to meet them as an uncle.

"Hahaha, I'm sure you find what I said very boring. It's an old habit that I can't change." Yue Feng said self-deprecatingly.

Several people felt that they had no way of responding to this. Firstly, they were unfamiliar with the man, and secondly, given his status and position, they decided to keep quiet.

"I asked you to come here because I received a call from your father. His flight this afternoon is almost time, so I have sent someone to pick him up at the airport. He didn't know when you were found, and I think he is most worried about your safety, so I asked you to meet here. I haven't seen him for a long time, and I didn't expect to meet him in this way. Yue Feng saw that the children had communication difficulties with him, so he told them the purpose of his visit to avoid the awkwardness of having nothing to say.

As expected, Yu Zihan and Pei Shuyan were thrilled when they heard Pei Xiao was coming. After all, this experience was beyond their expectations. Time flew by as they chatted idly.

The door opened, and Pei Xiao arrived, exhausted. Yu Zihan saw her father's bloodshot eyes, his unusually disheveled appearance, and it felt like her heart had been stabbed several times. It hurt so much.

"Children, how are you?" Pei Xiao's first glance upon entering the room was at Yu Zihan, then Pei Shuyan and Zhou Bingxuan. Seeing the three of them in high spirits, not only unharmed but also in good spirits, his heart finally settled. Only then did he turn his gaze to Yue Feng, who stood smiling beside him.

He walked up quickly, and the two grown men actually hugged each other.

"Long time no see." They greeted each other at the same time.

Then the two of them let go and punched each other on the shoulders in perfect sync.

"Thank you! I really don't know what I would have done without you." On the way, Pei Xiao listened to Yue Feng's secretary recount the entire story. He believed that although his daughter had some outstanding qualities, it was Yue Feng who ultimately made the difference. So he was very grateful to this old friend.

"Why are you so polite? Your daughter is also my daughter. If I don't help, who will?" These words made everyone feel at ease after all, their status was there.

"Well, you go back to the hotel and rest tonight. I'll treat you to lunch tomorrow at noon. We can have a good chat while we're at it." Yue Feng saw his old friend's current condition and thought that he was in urgent need of rest.

"Okay, okay, I'll rest first." There was no politeness between the two. After the change of seats, Yue Feng had someone send them to the hotel where Yu Zihan and the others were staying.

Pei Xiao was reluctant to leave his daughter and niece's room. Yu Zihan knew that her father wanted to ask them what happened, so she briefly reported what happened to her father and pushed him out of the room. She wanted him to rest early.

The next morning, Pei Xiao woke up and went with a few others to try some local snacks. Yu Zihan then acted as their guide, taking them shopping in the city. At noon, Yue Feng treated them to a delicious meal at a high-end restaurant. After Yu Zihan and the others returned to the hotel, Yue Feng and Pei Xiao went somewhere else to reminisce about the past.

The next day, Pei Xiao took Yu Zihan to visit Yue Feng's home.

They were taken home by Yue Feng's secretary. Before leaving, Yu Zihan searched the space for some high-end supplements, as well as a piece of top-grade jade she had received from her uncle, which she could carry with her. Yu Zihan gave these to Pei Xiao, who felt the gifts were valuable enough to give away. While their friendship didn't require material things, even the deepest friendships, or any other relationships, needed to be maintained.

When they arrived at Yue Feng's home, Xue Xinran personally cooked for them.

The three close friends inevitably reminisced about the past, listening to the stories of their difficult times. Though those experiences were tough, they all smiled as they recounted them, even bursting into laughter at the highlights. Yu Zihan met Yue Feng's son, Yue Pengfei, a serious-looking boy five years her junior.

They had lunch and dinner at Yue Feng's house. The three of them simply had so much to talk about. Yu Zihan found a book and spent the entire afternoon reading. After dinner, Pei Xiao, a teetotaler, was actually a little tipsy. She had rarely seen her father so cheerful. Yu Zihan marveled at the immense power of true friendship. She envied their friendship.

After that, Yue Feng never showed up again because he was too busy.

Three days later, Luo Zhenhai found Yu Zihan and the others and returned their belongings to their owners. He also told them that after several days of investigation, they had cracked down on several similar robbery gangs. Cui Dawei had indeed acted as their protector. He would definitely be sentenced, but the specific sentencing process still needed to be finalized.

Yu Zihan and the others waited for the result they wanted, and they sent the package to the train station for mailing, and returned home at the same time.
