Chapter 40 Daily Life of Injuries (I)

"You really are the type who uses any car. This is an ambulance." Gu Jingxuan stole a glance at the little girl and felt that she looked sickly. He couldn't stand seeing little girls like that. He preferred to see quirky and clever little girls. So he said it in a teasing tone.

Yu Zihan originally thought that Gu Jingxuan was injured because he helped her put out the fire. Seeing such a strong man become like this, she felt very guilty.

But after hearing what Gu Jingxuan said, Yu Zihan had an urge to beat him up in that handsome face.

She looked at the bleeding wound on the man's head and clenched her hardened fist. She turned her head away, unwilling to look at him again.

"If you still have the mood to look down on others, it means that your brain injury is not very serious. Not only does you have a bad heart, but you also have a bad mouth." She spoke in a low voice, but Gu Jingxuan still heard it.

Instead of being angry, he curled his lips because that clever and sharp-tongued little girl was back again.

"We're here." said the medical staff in the car.

Then there was a period of chaos. Seeing this situation, the hospital had been notified and knew Gu Jingxuan's identity, so they sent special doctors and nurses to treat Gu Jingxuan.

Originally, Yu Zihan followed him here just to see how serious his injuries were.

Judging from the current situation, the fact that he can curse indicates that his injuries are not serious. The fact that there are so many professionals taking care of him means that his skills are useless.

So, Yu Zihan quietly left. When that petite figure disappeared into the night, Gu Jingxuan felt a sense of loss for no reason.

After returning home, Yu Zihan couldn't fall asleep for a long time. What happened at the cotton textile factory kept flashing in her mind.

She entered the space and opened the wooden box that she had rescued from the room.

There were more than a dozen account books inside. Yu Zihan discovered from these account books that the amount of public funds embezzled by Cui Mingtao over the past decade was as high as hundreds of thousands.

This person was quite interesting, actually recording the origin of every single transaction in detail. Yu Zihan imagined what kind of expression he had when recording these accounts, was he smug or apprehensive?

She also found the correspondence between Cui Mingtao and Wang Weimin, most of which were letters from him to Wang Weimin.

Only a few of the letters were replies from Wang Weimin, and the content of the replies was very obscure. Without reading the original letters, it would be impossible to make any connection with what they said. This shows that he is very shrewd.

The contents of Cui Mingtao's letters were nothing more than asking for benefits and handling matters.

Seeing this, Yu Zihan thought to himself: "Sometimes people are killed by their own weird habits."

Cui Mingtao likes to keep evidence of his misdeeds. I don't know what's going on here. Is he trying to control the other person or is he just feeling proud?

Or did he often use these to spur himself on to go further and longer on the road of crime? Yu Zihan didn't ponder the man's intentions. After all, this thing was a bargain for him now. It was strong evidence to bring down Cui Mingtao.

The next day was Sunday. But Yu Zihan didn't sleep in. She knew that what happened last night would affect her mother's mood. She made breakfast for her mother.

Sure enough, Yu Meijuan was a little absent-minded throughout breakfast. Yu Zihan didn't say anything, thinking that when her mother arrived at the factory, she would hear about Cui Mingtao's arrest, and then she would be relieved.

"Mom is going to work, you stay at home." Before going out, Yu Meijuan did not forget her daily loving nagging.

"Okay, Mom, drive slowly and be careful on the road." Yu Zihan said in a relaxed tone.

When Yu Zihan was left alone at home, the handsome and silly face suddenly appeared in front of her eyes.

"His brain is injured, so I should make some food for him to replenish his energy." Yu Zihan thought of this problem naturally.

"Yes, make a fish head tofu soup."

Yu Zihan went to the market and bought a bighead carp, a piece of tofu, a pigeon, and some vegetables. Finally, she reluctantly bought two kilograms of apples and two kilograms of oranges.

It was almost nine o'clock when we got home. Yu Zihan first stewed the pigeons. Pigeon soup is very nutritious, especially for people with injuries.

Next, make the fish head and tofu soup. Heat oil in a wok and sear the fish head on both sides until golden brown. Add the prepared scallions, ginger, and garlic and sauté until fragrant. Pour boiling water over the fish head.

When the fish soup turns white, add the tofu and simmer for more than twenty minutes. Add salt and sprinkle with coriander when serving.

By the time the fish head soup was out of the pot, the pigeon soup was ready. Yu Zihan also made stir-fried bok choy and scrambled eggs with cucumber. She also heated up three steamed buns from home.

It was almost eleven o'clock when the meal was ready. Yu Zihan cleaned up the food and dishes and washed the fruit at home.

She rode her bike towards the hospital, carrying two thermoses and a net bag.

When she arrived at the hospital, she found out which ward Gu Jingxuan was staying in and walked straight towards it.

She knocked on the door, but no one responded. She became suspicious, wondering if something had happened.

She pushed the door open and saw Gu Jingxuan lying quietly on the hospital bed. His face was pale and his lips were chapped.

After not seeing each other for one night, Gu Jingxuan had some blue stubble on his face, adding a sense of vicissitudes of life to his already tough face.

Afraid of waking him up, she tiptoed to close the door and put the things she brought with her on the bedside table.

She looked at his cracked lips and muttered softly, "I don't know what this caregiver does. Didn't he even tell me to drink more water? Look at what he did to me."

Her words sounded like the nagging of an old lady, but they were strangely helpful. Especially Gu Jingxuan, who was pretending to be asleep, almost laughed out loud. With his skills, he noticed Yu Zihan before she even entered the ward.

He pretended to be asleep just to see what the little girl was going to do. He didn't expect that she was actually here to visit him. Looking at the two thermoses, they must be filled with food.

"The little girl is quite considerate. She didn't let him down for getting hurt for her." He squinted his eyes and looked at Yu Zihan.

Yu Zihan leaned over, picked up the thermos and shook it: "They won't even boil water. This caregiver should be replaced, otherwise we don't know when this person's injury will get better."

Yu Zihan muttered as she went out to fetch some water with her thermos. After leaving, she returned and took the washbasin and towel with her.

After the door closed, Gu Jingxuan couldn't help but open his eyes and look at the thermos on the bedside table, because he could already smell the fragrance coming from there. He took a few deep breaths, then lay back on the bed with satisfaction.

After more than ten minutes, Yu Zihan came back. She still tiptoed in and closed the door.

She scalded the enamel pot on the table with boiling water, then poured the boiling water over it and left it to dry. The towel and washbasin had already been washed and disinfected with boiling water.

After doing all this, she sat on the stool in front of the bed and looked at the sleeping Gu Jingxuan.
