On the eve of the holiday, Pei Shuyan and her classmates planned a trip together after the high school entrance exam. Their group originally consisted of six people, but with Yu Zihan joining, the group now numbered seven: Pei Shuyan, Yu Zihan, Chen Ting, Li Hao, Wang Qiang, Zhou Yang, and Zheng Wei.
There weren't many places to travel to these days, and their families wouldn't support them going further afield, so they chose Beidaihe, close to home. They'd bought their train tickets in advance; the fare was a very cheap 5.6 yuan per person. They took train No. 211, which departed at 7:00 a.m. and arrived in Beidaihe a little after 10:00 a.m.
On this day, the group arrived at the train station early, and everyone was very excited. On the train, they sat together, looking at the scenery outside the window, and couldn't help chatting.
"I love the sea the most. This time when I go to Beidaihe, I must learn to swim. Do you think there is a beach there?" Chen Ting asked her classmates excitedly.
"Yes, the beach there is very big, I guarantee you can learn it." Zhou Yang said proudly.
The carriage was filled with laughter.
Two hours passed in a flash and they soon arrived in Beidaihe. Zhou Yang had been there once before, so he naturally acted as a tour guide.
"We'll take the bus first, then rent a guesthouse near the seaside, and then we can have fun." Zhou Yang explained the itinerary to everyone along the way. In his previous life, Yu Zihan had visited Beidaihe. The environment and conditions back then were far superior to today's.
But traveling with classmates brings me greater joy than ever before.
They took the bus for about twenty minutes and arrived near the beach.
There are many types of accommodation here, including hotels, sanatoriums, and early B&Bs.
After comparing various options, they decided to stay in a B&B. B&Bs were not only affordable but also offered more flexibility. They could also buy seafood and pay a small processing fee for the owner to prepare delicious meals. Most importantly, the B&B owner was knowledgeable about the local area, allowing them to learn about local conditions and even ask the owner to act as a temporary tour guide if necessary.
Although it's peak tourist season, there aren't many people here. B&B owners are trying their best to attract tourists, so their service is very attentive. They asked the owner about the best times to go fishing, and he told them that the best time is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"We can go to the beach today. We can swim in the afternoon and enjoy a seafood dinner in the evening." Zhou Yang made his suggestion.
They were all young and frivolous boys and girls, and they had no idea what tiredness was, so everyone quickly reached a consensus.
Under the guidance of the B&B owner, they borrowed a small bucket, a small shovel and tongs from the owner's home.
Everyone followed the boss lady's advice, put on long-sleeved clothes, put on scarves on their heads and brought tools to the beach.
The beach, bathed in the midday summer sun, shimmered with a shimmering white fluorescence. They removed their shoes and stepped barefoot onto the sand. The fine sand, heated by the sun's long rays, burned intensely, making it incredibly hot. Yet, the students loved to step on it, even if it meant jumping and skipping. It was that feeling they loved. Over time, they adapted to the temperature. Stepping on the fine, soft sand, gazing at the shimmering sea, a gentle breeze blew over them—it was a very comfortable feeling.
Chen Ting was a very lively girl. She had a good relationship with Pei Shuyan. The two of them shouted loudly towards the sea: "Sea, we are coming, ah ...
Others were also infected by them and looked towards the distant sea.
"I saw crabs, come and catch them." It was Li Hao's voice.
Except for Zhou Yang, everyone was visiting the beach for the first time, so they were all curious about everything. When they heard about crabs, they all ran towards Li Hao.
Li Hao is fighting with a group of small crabs.
The crabs scurried away, and Li Hao frantically tried to catch them, but he couldn't catch a single one. Seeing Li Hao's frantic appearance, several others laughed at him in their hearts. So they joined in the crab-catching frenzy. Their faces shone with youthful energy and a curiosity about nature. The sunlight shone on them, illuminating their vibrant smiles.
They carefully searched for traces of small crabs on the beach, stopping from time to time to observe the small holes and bubbles on the sand, which might be the hiding places of the small crabs.
Once they've spotted their target, they become excited, quietly calling out to their companions as they gather around. Using their tools, they gently dig into the sand and carefully pull the tiny crabs out of their burrows. The little crabs panic and flee in all directions, but they don't let them go. They chase them, enjoying the process of catching them and feeling the joy of being close to nature.
Sometimes, the little crabs would pinch their fingers. At first, they panicked, fearing that the crabs would bite them, but after trying, they realized that the little crabs were not capable of such a thing. So they stopped worrying and placed the little crabs in their palms, carefully observing their every move and feeling the miracle of life.
In the process, they helped each other and shared their experiences and joys of catching fish. Their laughter and joy echoed on the beach, making the whole beach full of vitality and energy.
Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was already evening. Their original plan of swimming would have to be postponed until tomorrow. They returned to the B&B, their rewarding experience complete.
Back at the B&B, they finally felt tired. The fatigue after the excitement was even more painful. Every joint in their body ached. They had lost all desire, not even their appetite. All they wanted was to get into bed and sleep.
"Everyone go take a hot bath. Your fatigue will be relieved a lot after taking a bath. The boss lady and I will cook for everyone." Yu Zihan saw that her companions no longer had the enthusiasm they had when they first arrived, so she advised them.
Everyone obediently went to shower. Yu Zihan worked with the proprietress to clean up the crabs and clams they had harvested. Then, she bought some prawns from the proprietress and asked her to prepare a delicious meal for everyone. This meal wasn't just seafood; she also ordered scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried pork with celery, stir-fried zucchini, and a bowl of clam soup.
After taking a hot shower, the fatigue in my body disappeared and a youthful smile appeared on my face again.
Seeing the delicacies on the table, they looked at Yu Zihan with gratitude: "My sister is the beautiful and kind snail girl." Pei Shuyan praised.
Everyone echoed, "Yu Zihan, you're amazing. Not only are you good at studying, but you're also very capable in life."
"I accept your compliments, but should we start eating?" Yu Zihan was very happy to receive everyone's sincere compliments.
After hearing Yu Zihan's words, everyone felt their stomachs rumbling with hunger.
