This place is not far from Monkey’s restaurant. He was injured and wanted to go back to treat it first.
"You're going back to the restaurant to tend to your wound? Better not.
If the store manager knew you were in trouble, he could fire you tomorrow.
Come with me."
Ghost's car, a black Citroën, was parked at the entrance of the alley. It was an ordinary car that was common on the streets here.
Monkey sat in the passenger seat and smelled a faint smell of disinfectant in the car.
Ghost pulled out a medical kit from the back seat and motioned for Monkey to tend to the wound.
"Do you know where he is?" the monkey asked while bandaging the wound.
Ghost started the car, the wipers swaying rhythmically. "He also has a safe house in the East District, but I suspect it's just a cover. He's been very close to Russian gangs lately, and I found out he has a warehouse in the docks."
Monkey frowned, "Russian mafia?"
"Yes," Ghost turned the steering wheel, "He seems to be helping them launder money, and this is bound to be tainted with the influence of the gang."
The car drove across the Thames, and the London Eye in the rain was looming in the night.
The monkey looked out the window and didn't expect that his road to revenge would be so tortuous.
Or maybe I thought too simply of the enemy.
"We're here." The ghost's voice brought him back to reality.
The car stopped in front of a dilapidated apartment building.
Ghost pulled out a map from the glove box. "This is Liu Mu's activity trajectory for the past week. He goes to two places every day: one in the financial city and one in the dock area."
The monkey leaned closer to the map and noticed a dozen red dots. "Are these the places he's been?"
"Yes," the ghost magnified one of the areas. "That office building in the City was a cover. He only stayed there for ten minutes each time. But he stayed in this warehouse in the docks for several hours each time."
"What do you think he's hiding in there?"
The ghost sneered, "It's definitely not a legitimate business."
At this moment, the car was suddenly hit lightly from the side.
Ghost's expression changed. "Oh no! We're being tracked."
Before he could finish his words, a black car suddenly rushed out of the alley and crashed straight into their car.
The Ghost swerved the steering wheel and the Land Rover narrowly avoided the collision, but the rearview mirror was still broken.
"Fasten your seatbelts!" Ghost shouted, stepping on the accelerator.
Monkey fastened his seatbelt, held on to the handrail tightly, and felt like his heart was about to beat out of his chest.
The car behind was chasing closely, the window rolled down, and a submachine gun was extended out.
"Draw your head!" the ghost shouted.
The bullets whizzed past and hit the car body with a sharp sound.
It was the first time that the monkey felt himself in such a dangerous place.
After all, this was during the day! It wasn't even completely dark yet, and the gang was so brazen, shooting on the road. How arrogant!
Ghost swerved the steering wheel and the car made a sharp turn into another alley.
The car behind was chasing closely, but Ghost was obviously very familiar with the area and left the other car behind after a few turns.
"They're from the motorcycle gang," Ghost gasped. "It seems Liu Mu has reached an agreement with them."
The monkey wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and asked, "What should I do now?"
Ghost parked the car in a secluded corner. "We have to try a different approach. Liu Mu has discovered that we are tracking him, so he will definitely step up his defenses. But I have an idea..."
He pulled out a map from the back seat and pointed at it, saying, "Liu Mu has a habit of going to an underground bar every Wednesday night. That's the territory of the Princeling gang, but it's also our best chance to get close to him."
Monkey looked at the circled dot on the map, "You want to sneak into the bar?"
"Yes and no," the ghost said with a meaningful smile.
The monkey felt that the ghost really knew a lot, and it seemed that he would not suffer any loss if he followed his plan.
But by Wednesday, he felt he was overthinking it.
It turned out that the ghost wanted to use him as a target.
On Wednesday night, the speakeasy they were heading to was deep down a dark alley in London's East End.
Monkey put on the leather jacket prepared by Ghost and looked at himself in the mirror. He could hardly recognize that this stylishly dressed man was the worker who cut vegetables in the Chinese restaurant.
Although he usually dresses up a lot, the style and design of his clothes are somewhat different from those outside.
"Remember," Ghost said as he adjusted the dagger on his sleeve, "here, you are Mr. Li, the nightclub investor from Formosa. I am your partner. Our goal tonight is to spend money."
"Spend money?" The monkey was puzzled.
The ghost smiled mysteriously. "Those guests who spend lavishly are most likely to attract everyone's attention. And with you showing up there, he must have thought you looked familiar and came to verify your identity."
After all, they had met once before, and the monkey was a safety hazard to Liu Mu.
He will show up, verify, and finally decide whether to take action.
As long as he appears, the ghost will have the opportunity to kill people and get the bounty!
Of course, he would not tell the monkey about the bounty.
Pushing open the bar's heavy wooden door, the deafening sound of music washed over me. Under the dim lights, a motley crew of figures danced on the dance floor. The air was thick with the scent of alcohol, sweat, and danger.
The ghost took him to the bar and ordered two glasses of the most expensive whiskey. The monkey noticed that in the corner booth, several burly men were vigilantly patrolling the room.
"Did you see that man in the red suit?" Ghost whispered in his ear, "That's the second-in-command of the Princelings gang. Liu Mu should be nearby."
