Chapter 4 Finding Business Opportunities

Xia Enruo stared intently into Qiao Huizhen's eyes, slowly walking towards her step by step, a smile playing on her lips.

"Sister-in-law Huizhen, did you forget to brush your teeth this morning? Why are you talking so rudely? I've been standing here without saying a word, but you've been insulting me for ages. It seems even college students aren't very well-mannered."

You keep saying I exploit the working people, but which eye of yours saw that? You need to provide evidence to support your claims, otherwise it's just slander and defamation.

The government has already issued policies, and our family has been cleared of accusations. Why do you seem dissatisfied with these policies? Are you some remnant of a gang that's causing trouble for the country?

"You...you're talking nonsense. Who's dissatisfied with the country's policies? Stop spreading rumors and misleading the public."

Qiao Huizhen was taken aback by Xia Enruo's imposing manner. Had this lazy woman taken some kind of poison today? How dare she talk back?

"So you know that spreading rumors is misleading? I thought Sister-in-law Huizhen didn't know. Then please shut your mouth from now on. Otherwise, if I'm unhappy one day, I'll go to your hospital and make a scene. Anyway, I'm unemployed, unlike some people who have a proper job and still care about the impact."

"You dare? Aren't you afraid of affecting your husband? You dare to cause trouble at our workplace? Listen to this, isn't it laughable?"

Qiao Huizhen disagreed. She knew Xia Enruo's personality too well. She was known for being a bully at home, and she had only ever heard her smash things at home. She had never seen her talk back to anyone outside.

"Alright then, all you ladies will be my witnesses today. I'm going to accompany Sister Huizhen to work at the hospital, and while I'm at it, I'll talk to her supervisor about how the doctors at her hospital have repeatedly insulted military wives in front of others, and what kind of punishment they should receive. Just in time, the bus is here, let's go, Sister Huizhen."

Hearing Xia Enruo say that, Qiao Huizhen felt uneasy. She was really afraid that Xia Enruo would complain about her at the hospital. She had indeed bullied her quite a bit. Moreover, a few days ago, a patient's family member went to the hospital to complain about her rude attitude and was given a warning. If this was added to the list, she would probably have to be punished one by one and lose her year-end bonus.

Once in the car, Xia Enruo deliberately sat next to Qiao Huizhen.

"Why did you squeeze next to me when there are so many empty seats? Don't you feel hot?"

Qiao Huizhen moved further in, looking at her with disdain.

"Sit down next to me. Sister-in-law, you'd be so kind as to show me the way, otherwise how am I supposed to find your boss? Sister-in-law, aren't you scared?"

"you……."

Qiao Huizhen was rebuffed by what she was being said and turned away with a bitter face.

When the bus arrived at the station, Xia Enruo got off the bus with Qiao Huizhen and kept walking behind her. When Qiao Huizhen realized that she couldn't shake off Xia Enruo, she simply started jogging.

Xia Enruo followed closely behind, wanting to see just how much courage this crazy woman had.

Seeing Xia Enruo getting closer and closer, Qiao Huizhen became increasingly nervous. What if she found the leader? Just then, she accidentally fell on the side of the road and twisted her ankle. It hurt so much that she couldn't even stand up.

Seeing her disheveled appearance, Xia Enruo decided not to follow her any further. She had only intended to scare her, but it turned out she was just a good-for-nothing.

The important thing I'm doing today is looking for business opportunities; I can't let this go on for too long.

Arriving at the narrow street in the center, the few small shops on both sides lacked sophisticated modern billboards; some even had signs simply written in chalk on black boards. This was quite novel, like stepping into a scene from a period drama.

Xia Enruo looked left and right, and everything seemed unfamiliar. In fact, she had already planned her development path while lying in bed yesterday.

She started her business in the catering industry, and she also knows how to sew and wash clothes. Eventually, she founded the luxury brand Diwei, which includes ready-to-wear clothing, bags, accessories, perfumes and other products. No matter what era, the money of the rich is still the easiest to earn, because as long as the quality and brand are good, they are willing to pay any price.

After thinking for a long time, she finally decided to start with the catering industry. She applied for a chef position at a restaurant, where she was proficient in all kinds of cuisines. Once she had earned enough money, she would open her own small restaurant and take it one step at a time.

She observed for a long time before finally stopping in front of a newly opened restaurant, Jufulai Restaurant. It looked like it had just opened not long ago, and its storefront was the largest on the whole street. The windows were decorated with signs that read "We welcome guests from all over the world to enjoy cuisines from all over the country."

Ha, quite the boast, it must be a big restaurant.

Xia Enruo pushed open the door and went inside. She explained her purpose at the front desk, and soon the manager came over. He hesitated when he saw Xia Enruo's appearance.

"You said you wanted to apply for a head chef position?"

"Yes, I want to apply for the head chef position. I can cook many dishes."

"Hey girl, this restaurant isn't some street stall. Not just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can apply. You don't look like someone who can cook."

The manager's tone was quite unpleasant, but Xia Enruo had seen too many people like him, so she didn't need to get angry.

"Comrade, the quality of cooking is judged by taste, not by looking at someone's face. Those who can tell by looking at someone's face are fortune tellers. If you don't believe me, I can cook you a couple of dishes so you can try them."

"Go away, I don't have time to waste with a young girl like you. Many famous chefs in the city have applied but failed. Our chefs were poached from big hotels in the provincial capital. Do you think you can serve at a formal table just by knowing a couple of rustic country dishes? I think you've come to the wrong place. There's a street noodle shop on the left side of the road that's more suitable for you."

The receptionist couldn't help but chuckle as she listened to the manager's words.

"Alright, since you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do."

Xia Enruo felt quite helpless; it was truly an inauspicious start. However, it was understandable; in her current state, no one would believe her if she went anywhere claiming to be an expert in all sorts of famous dishes.

Just as she was about to leave, four burly men barged in through the door.

"Who's the boss! Come out!"

Seeing this, the manager didn't dare to be negligent and hurriedly went forward to greet them.

"I am the restaurant manager. Would you like to order something? Please come in."

"We came here to eat, of course, but I'm afraid you can't cook it."

The group found a place to sit down. Xia Enruo, wanting to see what strange dishes they would order, joined in the fun and followed them. The other diners also watched with curiosity.

"Of course we can do it. No restaurant in the city dares to claim to be the best. We are proficient in all kinds of cuisines from all over the country, and our head chefs are all from the provincial capital."

The manager spoke arrogantly, not taking the people in front of him seriously.

"Fine, you've got quite the nerve. Since you've said it like that, if you can't deliver, it's cheating customers. Don't blame us for getting angry and smashing up your overhyped shop."

"Hmph. You order, I want to see what kind of dishes you can come up with."
