Chapter 17 Sold to Butcher Liu

As Yunniang spoke, tears welled up in her eyes. She had been eating well and drinking the spiritual spring water these past two days, and her complexion had improved considerably.

Although there's not much meat left, it's become a bit rosy and no longer gives off that pale, ghostly look.

She was already quite beautiful, and now, with tears streaming down her face, she looked so pitiful that anyone who saw her would feel sorry for her.

Han Luoxue sighed inwardly. No wonder her father was willing to disobey her grandmother and marry her mother. Her mother's crying was unbearable, not to mention a man, even she, a woman, couldn't stand it.

"Mom, I'm fine, aren't I? Don't worry, we won't go to the mountains anymore, okay?"

"Xue'er, what are you going to do?"

Han Luoxue thought that after several lessons, the Han family should no longer provoke her.

Unexpectedly, they encountered the original owner's grandfather, Han Datou.

This Han Datou wasn't very big, only about 1.7 meters tall, and he was quite thin, but his head was unusually large.

I heard he was born with a big head. People in the countryside don't pay much attention to naming things, so they just called him Han Datou (Big Head Han).

"Xue'er".

Han Datou was angry that Han Luoxue ignored him, but his expression softened. He had waited a long time before finally managing to catch Han Luoxue.

Tomorrow is the deadline; he has to tie this brat up and take her to town today.

He couldn't afford to fail today; he had made thorough preparations.

"Sigh, even Grandpa didn't expect your grandma to think that way."

Seeing that Han Luoxue remained silent, Han Datou continued speaking to himself, looking guilty as he said:

"Actually, you are all flesh and blood of my Han family. How could your grandfather bear to let you die?"

"Xue'er, your grandma did something wrong, and grandpa has already punished her. Can you forgive grandpa?"

Han Luoxue was annoyed by what he said and wanted to leave, but every step she took, Han Datou followed, like a little shadow, constantly buzzing in her ear.

Well, it's not a good day to go out, she should just go home.

Han Luoxue turned around to go back when a gust of wind came. Han Datou was on her left, and she instinctively dodged to the right.

A gust of wind brushed past her ear. Just as Han Luoxue was about to see who it was, she suddenly felt a pain in her neck, and everything went black.

Before falling into a coma, I seemed to see my second uncle's smug face.

"This girl reacted really quickly. Luckily, we had made several preparations."

With a smug look on his face, Han Lao Er embraced Han Luoxue's limp body.

"Alright, hurry up and pack her up and send her over, be careful she doesn't get discovered."

Han Datou looked around warily, and only when he saw no one did he feel relieved.

Without saying much, Han Laoda and Han Laoer quickly took out a bag and stuffed Han Luoxue inside.

They fastened the gag, hoisted the person onto their shoulders, and the three of them hurriedly headed towards the town without delay.

It's almost noon now, and they still want to come back as soon as possible.

Carrying Han Luoxue, the three were in good spirits. Was what they were carrying a person? It was food, the family's hope for survival.

Wuling Town is not very big, but there are quite a few wealthy people in the town.

The largest family in town was surnamed Liu. Master Liu had more than a dozen concubines, but only one son.

The son was always sickly, didn't like to eat, didn't grow fast, was very weak, and was prone to illness.

Especially now, during a year of famine, it's good enough to have something to eat, but Liu Ai is still a picky eater.

Therefore, Mr. Liu went to the fortune teller who had named the child, and changed the name to "Loves to Eat" because the child didn't like to eat, but it didn't help.

"This millet is really awful."

Liu Ai looked at the millet porridge and millet cakes brought up by the servants, turned her head away unhappily, and didn't want to eat a single bite.

Old Master Liu couldn't hit him, nor could he scold him. He even wanted to kneel down before his son, pleading, "Ancestor, please stop causing trouble."

He even had people inquire about where there were good or rare foods in the city, but unfortunately, the things he finally found didn't meet his little darling's standards.

The Liu family was deeply distressed, with everyone, masters and servants, searching everywhere for something the young master liked to eat.

...

The Han father and son carried Han Luoxue to the market, a journey that took nearly two hours.

Han Datou glanced at the sun; it was definitely too late to get back that day. However, the thought of the grain they would soon receive still filled them with excitement.

The group rushed to Butcher Liu's place, only to find that he had already closed up shop. They then asked for his address and went directly to Butcher Liu's house.

They knocked on the door, and after waiting for almost half an hour, the group was getting impatient before the door finally opened.

Liu the Butcher's somewhat fierce face was revealed.

"what for?"

Liu the butcher was holding a knife in his hand, the tip of which was dripping with blood. The three men trembled in fear when they saw it. Liu the butcher was clearly no good person.

"I..."

When had Han Datou ever dealt with such a person? He opened his mouth to explain, but he was so frightened that he trembled and couldn't say anything.

Han Lao Er was quick-witted and resourceful. He stepped forward, carefully placed the bag on the ground, and put on a fawning smile.

"Master Liu, it's like this. A few days ago I heard that you want a pretty girl as your wife, and you'll give her fifty catties of corn. If the girl is pretty, you'll give her thirty catties more, is that right?"

Upon hearing that it involved a beautiful woman, Butcher Liu's expression improved considerably. He sized up the three honest-looking men, his gaze settling on the burlap sack in front of them:

"This is?"

“This is my daughter. She’s incredibly beautiful. There’s no one more beautiful than her in the surrounding area. Mr. Liu, if we weren’t so poor that we couldn’t afford to eat, we wouldn’t be willing to sell such a pretty daughter.”

"Um?"

Upon hearing Han Lao Er's words, Butcher Liu raised an eyebrow in displeasure and raised his broadsword, which startled Han Lao Er, who quickly corrected himself: "Marry her off, marry her off."

He said he wanted to untie the rope, but he was too scared and his hands were trembling. He tried to untie it several times but couldn't get a hold of the end.

"Useless trash, get out of here!"

Hearing them say the child was beautiful, Butcher Liu's curiosity was piqued, and he irritably pulled Han Lao Er up.

Unable to control his strength, Han Lao Er fell to the ground with a "thud," landing face-first in the mud.

He winced in pain, rubbing his buttocks, but dared not say anything.

This butcher Liu looked too fierce; fearing he might anger him, the butcher swung his broadsword directly at him. The world is a bit chaotic these days; killing someone usually goes unpunished. Many people even steal corpses, because the dead can fill their stomachs.

Having finally driven away the troublesome person, Butcher Liu was too lazy to untie the rope. He simply used his blood-stained cleaver to cut the end of the rope, and the large sack opened. He struggled to hold the sack with one hand, and with a slash of his cleaver, the sack was neatly cut open. He couldn't wait to look at the beauty inside.
