Chapter 176 Plotting Treachery

"Eat quickly, while it's hot!"

Han Luoxue and Han Yuchen also started eating heartily. After traveling all day, they were both exhausted.

Seeing the two of them eating so happily, Stone's mother began to eat in small bites. The way she ate was so quiet and gentle, unlike any typical rural woman.

"Little Stone, is there someone in charge of this area?"

When Han Luoxue first saw this part, she had an idea.

"Yes, Grandpa Xu is in charge of this area. You can go to him if you need anything."

Having eaten and drunk his fill, Little Stone hadn't felt this satisfied in a long time. He let out a burp, his little face still flushed.

This little kid is already so shy.

"Could you take us to see Grandpa Xu?"

Little Stone nodded quickly, as he also needed to go out and digest his food, having eaten too much earlier.

As she left, Han Luoxue glanced at the little red horse and patted its back: "Be good, I'll come back and feed you in a bit."

The little red horse neighed and raised its powerful hind legs.

Grandpa Xu was over sixty years old and lived in a much better place than Xiao Shitou's family. Seeing everyone coming over, he stood up.

"Little Stone, this is..."

"This is a kind lady I met on the road. She just cooked a meal at my house and gave us a good meal. There was even meat."

Little Stone specifically asked, and Grandpa Xu smiled and said, "You've come to see this old man for something, is there something you need?"

She seemed like a straightforward person. Han Luoxue stepped forward and asked, "Grandpa Xu, I see that everyone is not doing very well. Many people are not able to afford food. My husband and I are grain merchants, and we just happened to be passing by today."

"Alas, madam, although I see you as just a young girl, you may not understand our situation. Even if you have food, the people here don't have the money to buy it."

Actually, at the beginning, their situation was quite good, and people weren't that poor.

Although the money wasn't much, each family had some savings. However, the famine persisted, and everyone ran out of food and had to go out to buy it.

The little savings people have at home can last for a while if they buy grain normally, but where can they find grain at a normal price?

All the grain was expensive, and eventually even that became unavailable. Everyone had to tighten their belts and just try to survive.

"Grandpa Xu, you misunderstood me. What I meant was that we want to distribute porridge."

"What...what did you say?"

Grandpa Xu stood up excitedly, raised his hand, his fingers trembling, and his voice was also trembling.

Seeing his agitated state, almost like he had a seizure, Han Luoxue even worried that he might faint from excitement.

“What I mean is, we want to give out porridge, for free.”

"Grandpa Xu, please don't get agitated, we..."

"Oh dear, I can't live anymore, I can't live anymore."

Before the group could finish speaking, a voice broke the silence.

The sound was extremely mournful, yet it sounded somewhat familiar to Han Luoxue.

I feel like I've heard it somewhere before, but I'm not really familiar with it.

That sound actually cured Grandpa Xu's trembling.

They were both thrilled; it turned out that shouting really could cure illnesses.

"Aunt Wu, you can't do this. You provoked their horse first."

An urgent voice followed, and Han Luoxue immediately recognized who it was.

This is Little Stone's mother.

"That's right, it's because you wanted money that the kind lady's horse kicked you."

That's the sound of the little stone.

Grandpa Xu was so excited when he heard that someone was distributing porridge that he almost fainted. Before the matter was even settled, he was suddenly interrupted, which made him so angry that he wanted to go out and smash the person.

"Gentlemen, about the porridge distribution..."

Grandpa Xu still wanted to resolve this matter. But Han Luoxue shook her head: "Let's deal with the outside affairs first."

Neither of them noticed that Little Stone hadn't followed them in; they must have been worried about home and had run back.

This little guy can run pretty fast.

"That's not urgent, let's talk about distributing porridge..."

For many of them, how long has it been since they've had a full meal? They're lucky to even see a few grains of food on a daily basis, so to suddenly have someone offering porridge is something they'd be extremely lucky to find.

Grandpa Xu didn't want to let it go either. He was eager to settle the matter.

However, Han Luoxue and the others did not think that way.

"Let's go out and see, I heard Little Stone's voice."

Han Luoxue persisted, leaving Grandpa Xu helpless, but in his heart he hated the troublemakers outside.

Thinking of this, he strode out, with Han Ruoxue and the other woman following closely behind.

Sure enough, a woman looking extremely disheveled appeared in the courtyard. Wasn't this Aunt Wu, the one Little Stone resented?

Han Luoxue was surprised. No wonder the voice sounded familiar. It was her.

However, her clothes were no longer as neat as before; they were now messy and covered in dirt.

Thinking back to what she had just heard, Han Luoxue understood. It seemed some people didn't take her words seriously.

Disobedience always needs to be punished, but his Chasing Wind is a horse with some sense of proportion; at least it didn't seriously injure anyone.

The fact that Aunt Wu was able to come over means that nothing serious happened.

"What are you doing!"

Grandpa Xu's tone was extremely unpleasant. If this person hadn't come and caused trouble, the porridge distribution would have already been agreed upon.

"Uncle Xu, please be my judge! I kindly went to help them feed their horses, and their horses kicked me!"

Aunt Wu pointed to the mess on her body and pulled the bits of grass off her head, angrily accusing him.

“You’re talking nonsense, you were clearly the one who stole the horse in the past,” Little Stone retorted, his eyes red.

“That’s right, this is our benefactor’s horse, how could you steal it?” Little Stone’s mother also questioned loudly.

“What do you mean by stealing? Do I look like someone who would steal a horse? I just saw that the horse was starving and went over to feed it out of kindness.”

Aunt Wu refused to admit it and kept saying that she meant well.

“Grandpa Xu, she really didn’t go there to feed the horses. She just wanted to steal them. I heard them talking. They said they were going to kill the horse and eat the meat later.”

Little Stone shouted loudly, his eyes red.

Because everyone was talking, the courtyard was crowded with people, densely packed together.

The crowd was buzzing with discussion; some believed Little Stone, while others believed Aunt Wu.

"You little brat, how did you know we were going to kill the horse? We were just trying to be kind. It was you and your mother, you little bitch, who wanted to kill the horse, wasn't it?"

When Aunt Wu heard that the child had overheard their conversation, a fierce glint flashed across her face, and her voice became even more impolite.

"You're the bitch, your whole family are bitches."

Hearing Aunt Wu scolding his mother, Little Stone became even more indignant and rushed over with his small body.
