Chapter 555 Demanding an Explanation

Han Juhua was unaware of what had happened today. She had nothing much to do at home and usually enjoyed going out for walks and chatting with the older women on the street. This time, she went as usual, but the older women were giving her strange looks.

Han Juhua touched her face. Did she have something on her face?

Just as Han Juhua was puzzled, one of the aunties strode forward, raised her hand, and slapped her across the face!

Han Juhua was stunned by the beating. She held her face with one hand, her eyes red, and looked at the person who hit her with a pitiful expression: "Why did you hit me?"

The aunt snorted coldly, raised her hand, and slapped him again, this time hitting both sides squarely.

Han Juhua also had a temper. She raised her arm to retaliate, but several other women stepped forward, each with one hand, and quickly pinned her to the ground.

"You little slut, you're actually stirring up trouble in the village."

After returning home, these women thought a lot. They couldn't bear to see Han Luoxue doing well. But Han Lenghua's words stirred their hearts. Even if they were gloating, they shouldn't have said it aloud. Han Luoxue was truly capable; just a little something she revealed would be enough for them to live on for a long time. It wasn't worth sacrificing themselves for the sake of verbal sparring.

It's important to understand that the seedlings Han Luoxue provided were a genuine benefit. Everyone had witnessed firsthand how good her seedlings were. They were a variety they had never seen before—quick-maturing, short growing season, and high yield. If she continued to provide them, how could they not live comfortably?

They were almost ruined by Han Juhua. But they were even more curious and wanted to know what Han Juhua had done in the capital.

Although Han Juhua was young and strong, she was no match for the aunties. She struggled and resisted, but the aunties didn't hold back, slapping her face, kicking her stomach, and tearing her hair. In no time, Han Juhua lay motionless on the ground like a madwoman.

An older woman stepped forward, grabbed her hair with one hand, and pulled it back forcefully, revealing her dusty, dirty face. The face was truly pitiful. The woman raised her hand and slapped her face a few times, this time without much force.

Han Juhua felt dizzy and her vision blurred. She hadn't been beaten in a long time. That damned woman!

Han Juhua was filled with resentment, but she was powerless to fight back. The women were all watching her intently, and she was no match for them.

"Han Juhua, I think you're just jealous of your sister."

The aunt sneered, and Han Juhua quickly shook her head, "No, I didn't, I'm telling the truth."

Anyway, Han Luoxue isn't here right now, so no matter what she says, these people can't verify it with Han Luoxue, right? The aunt scoffed coldly and slapped Han Juhua again.

"The truth? Then why did your aunt say that Han Luoxue's child is fine, and that her husband is by her side?"

Chrysanthemum shook her head vigorously, "That child is really in trouble. I guarantee it's because they are two idiots. Also, Han Luoxue's man isn't with her. She's usually all alone."

She had met Han Luoxue a few times, but not so many times with Han Yuchen. As for Han Luoxue's two children, she had never met them; she wasn't qualified to meet them.

Actually, she should be thankful that Han Luoxue didn't know these words. If Han Luoxue had known, it wouldn't have been as simple as just a few slaps. No one could curse her child.

The group bullied Han Juhua for a while longer. When Han Juhua returned, she was in a sorry state, and her body ached all over. When she got back to the simple room, which was the one her parents used to live in, it was nothing compared to the place they lived in in Le'an Town.

She also hated Han Lenghua to the core. After all, she was Han Lenghua's niece. How could Han Lenghua bear to treat her like this?

I reckon the aunties outside won't give her a friendly look anymore. Han Juhua doesn't know how she'll survive in this town anymore.

Being targeted by the entire village, life wouldn't be easy. No, she had to find Han Lenghua; it was all her fault for meddling!

The next morning, Han Juhua was still a little sore; those women from the previous day had used too much force.

"aunt!"

To her surprise, Han Lenghua refused to open the door for her.

She pounded on the door from the outside, calling out to Han Lenghua, but unfortunately, she didn't even respond.

Meanwhile, inside the room, two maids were with their mother. The younger maid, in particular, was too young to know what had happened.

She looked at her mother with curiosity and asked why her cousin wouldn't come in. She hadn't liked Han Juhua before, but recently Han Juhua would give them a piece of candy whenever she came over. Children like candy, and after being coaxed a couple of times, her impression of her improved.

Han Lenghua gently stroked the little girl's head and sighed, "You should have less contact with her in the future!"

Her niece was wicked, and she worried that having two children with her would corrupt her own daughter. Han Lenghua hadn't believed in the idea that some people are born bad, but she'd witnessed it firsthand today. She didn't know if Xiaoya understood, but she nodded understandingly.

Hearing the commotion outside Han Lenghua's courtyard, several women from nearby houses peeked out, watching curiously. When they discovered that Han Juhua couldn't even get through the gate, they all scoffed disdainfully.

It seems Han Juhua hasn't been doing anything good outside either. After coming back, she's stirring up trouble. This woman is really a troublemaker.

"Auntie, open the door! I'm your own niece, open the door for me!"

Han Juhua also noticed the malicious looks in everyone's eyes. She remembered being beaten yesterday and felt scared, but she still wanted to ask Han Lenghua what she really meant.

"Han Juhua, don't come here again. We don't welcome heartless bastards like you in our home."

Han Juhua... how could she be so heartless?

"Auntie, have you misunderstood me? I'm your own niece, we're the closest of relatives."

Han Juhua had no intention of giving up. To survive in this village, she needed to cultivate a good relationship with Han Lenghua. She had heard that many people in the village listened to them now.

"You know in your heart whether there's a misunderstanding or not. Han Juhua, tell me, what has Xue Yatou done to offend you? How could you spread rumors about her outside?"

Han Juhua… she didn’t do it on purpose. Does this aunt really think she’s something special?

"Auntie, I can explain..."

"Han Juhua, get out!"

Han Juhua wanted to continue the argument, but a cold snort suddenly came from behind her, startling her so much that she took two steps back.
