Chapter 157 Still Alive

Chapter 157 Still Alive

When Qi Wuhan returned to Ganyue Palace, he learned that Jiang Lan had not returned yet, so he sent two shadows to look for her. Then An Zhong came and said that the emperor wanted to see him, and took him to Qinglong Garden.

Later, on his way back from Qinglong Garden, a shadowy figure hurried over to report something to him. His expression froze and he turned towards the exit of the palace.

Jiang Lan was pricked in the acupuncture point and could not move. She could only let the man put her on the bed. When the man leaned over her, red bloodshot burst out of her eyes.

"It's me." The other person took off the fox mask on his face, revealing a familiar face.

Jiang Lan was surprised and her eyes widened.

Ji Quan curled his lips into a smile and said in his usual sarcastic tone, "I didn't expect that I was so lucky and still alive, right?" He reached out and tapped her neck to untie her neck. Jiang Lan immediately got up from the bed, walked a few steps away, and kept a distance from him, so that she would feel more secure.

"Why are you so wary of me? Aren't we in the same boat?" He sneered.

"You," she paused and asked tentatively, "how did you escape?"

Ji Quan curled his lips, "Are you blaming me for not saving you at that time?"

"The situation at that time was just like you said. Whoever could run away was the one who ran away. Even if you came back, you might not be able to save me and my cousin. You might even die." Jiang Lan analyzed objectively and calmly. She did not mean to blame him. If it were her at that time, she would probably run as far as she could and find a way to save others after she was safe.

But he hadn't been seen since he ran away, which made her suspicious.

"I used that camel as bait, and by the time those wolves caught up to me, I had already run far away in the other direction." Ji Quan explained how he escaped and sighed, "I was really unlucky. I ran in the wrong direction and stepped on quicksand. Fortunately, there was no space underneath, otherwise I would have been buried alive. I wandered around for several days before I found the exit. After that, it took some time to find out the whereabouts of you and your cousin. I just arrived in the capital a few days ago. I wanted to go to the palace to look for you, but the palace was heavily guarded and I never found a chance to sneak in."

At this point, he changed the subject and said, "The newly appointed Crown Prince is the Marquis, right?"

Jiang Lan didn't answer.

"This is difficult." Ji Quan held his chin with one hand and touched his chin. "He is now the Crown Prince of Beimo. I'm afraid he won't go back with you. Then I won't be able to explain to His Majesty."

Jiang Lan frowned, then suddenly raised her gaze, staring into his mocking eyes, and asked, "Do you know what's going on in the capital right now?"

Ji Quan asked back, "So do you want to stay or go back?"

"Go back." Jiang Lan said firmly. Her answer to this question has never changed. If the emperor wants to punish her, then punish her alone. As long as she is still alive, there will always be other ways in the future.

"Don't you want to stay and become the Crown Princess?" Ji Quan seemed to be further testing her determination.

Jiang Lan sneered, "And then let my elder brother wait for death in the capital?"

"The Marquis has been very obedient to you before. If you just tell him a word, wouldn't he send someone to pick up your elder brother?" Ji Quan said.

Jiang Lan's heart wavered for a moment, but she immediately rejected the idea. She knew her elder brother's character well and knew he would never betray the court and defect to Beimo.

"What exactly do you want to say to me?" She was not interested in beating around the bush.

Ji Quan talked about the situation in the capital, "I just received news that the emperor has summoned your father back to the capital."

Jiang Lan was not surprised by the news.

"By the way, there is one more thing. I don't know whether I should tell you?" Ji Quan's expression was a little intriguing, as if what he was about to say would violate Jiang Lan's taboo.

"What is it?" she asked.

Ji Quan replied, "Pei Qian has returned to the capital." He curled his lips and smiled, "I heard he was scammed outside and looked like a completely different person when he returned."

Jiang Lan frowned. It seemed that he was the one who wanted to kill her to vent his anger in the mine. He deserved it because of his reckless behavior.

Ling Feng was guarding the river. There was a row of brightly colored pleasure boats parked by the shore, tied with ribbons and hung with lanterns, dressed up in a gorgeous manner. Opposite was the Qinlou and Chuguan. At night, the whole river was lit up, with brilliant lights that never went out all night. It was a famous place of entertainment in the capital, and a veritable den of infamy.

"Have you found the person?" Qi Wuhan brought his men over and asked.

Ling Feng shook his head.

At that time, he asked Ling Feng to send Jiang Lan back to the palace first, but an accident happened on the way. Someone threw a string of firecrackers into the street to create chaos, and took advantage of the chaos to kidnap Jiang Lan.

Ling Feng chased after him relentlessly and finally caught up to the riverside, where the man disappeared. He was sure that the other party was hiding in the pleasure boats by the river. Before Qi Wuhan came over, he had searched six pleasure boats and was now preparing to search the seventh.

Qi Wuhan glanced at the several pleasure boats floating on the river and asked Ling Feng to lead the men to continue searching on the shore. He used his lightness skills to jump up and landed on the nearest pleasure boat.

This scared a man and a woman who were flirting. The man was so angry that he rushed over to settle the score with Qi Wuhan. But when Qi Wuhan glanced at him, he was so scared that he quickly stepped back and dared not say a word.

The woman was still stealing glances at him, as if it was the first time she had seen such a handsome and extraordinary man. His indifferent gaze swept over her, and she blushed and lowered her head. When she raised her head again, the man had disappeared.

When he landed on the second pleasure boat, he saw the one in front of him moving towards the shore, and immediately flew over using his lightness skills. When he landed on it, he saw Jiang Lan being held hostage by a man wearing a fox mask, with one hand on her neck.

"It came really quickly."

"What do you want?"

Ji Quan pushed Jiang Lan forward, turned around and flew ashore. Qi Wuhan immediately reached out to catch Jiang Lan. When he looked at the shore, the person had already run away.

"Are you okay?" He looked her up and down, his gaze lingering on her neck for a moment, and when he looked away his expression was a little gloomy.

Jiang Lan shook her head and said it was okay.

A hint of darkness flashed across his expression, and his tone became indifferent, "Go back first."

Jiang Lan felt that he seemed to have misunderstood something, and was about to explain to him when he grabbed her wrist and took her away.

He walked very fast, almost dragging her forward. Jiang Lan wanted to explain to him, but as soon as she opened her mouth, he stopped and his whole body was in a very low mood.

"Let's talk about it when we get back." He said in a commanding tone, not allowing any refusal.

Qi Wuhan's air pressure was very low along the way, as if his whole body was covered with a layer of ice spikes, preventing anyone from getting close.

Jiang Lan felt that he must have misunderstood her, and she planned to explain it to him when she got back. Then she saw that the sleeve on his arm was torn, and she was worried that he was injured. She asked him about it, but he ignored her.

As soon as she returned to Ganyue Palace, Qi Wuhan took her into the bedroom. Before she could explain, he pressed her lips against the door. The next moment, he roughly tore off her clothes, just venting his emotions without caring about her wishes. Only when he saw her crying did he regain his senses and said coldly, "If you don't want to, forget it. I don't lack women either." After that, he opened the door and went out.

Jiang Lan squatted behind the door and bit her arm hard to stop herself from crying out loud. In her heart, she cursed herself for being useless and called him a bastard...

After calming down a little, she raised her hand to wipe away her tears, took a few deep breaths, and then walked to the bronze mirror to look at her face. Her eyes were still as red as a rabbit's, and it was obvious that she had just cried. Then she walked to the table and poured a cup of tea. She wet the handkerchief with the tea and applied it to her eyes. Then she went to the bronze mirror to tidy up her hair and clothes. Her eyes turned and she saw the bed where he slept. His words echoed in her mind again.

There is no shortage of women, right?

A cup of tea splashed onto the bed.

With a clang.

She put the teacup on the table and walked out of the bedroom without looking back.

On the way back to her residence, Xie Yun ran towards her with a happy face and said, "Sister Lan, why are you back so early?" Jiang Lan silently calmed herself down, took him aside, and told him what happened at the birthday party.

"Then you are not hurt?" Xie Yun asked nervously.

Jiang Lan shook her head, turned around again, and tried to put on her usual smile, "Look, cousin, nothing's wrong."

Xie Yun held his chin up and stared at her, as if he could tell that her smile was a bit forced. "Did your brother-in-law bully you again?"

She was stunned for a moment, then shook her head, glanced around, cupped her hands to her mouth and whispered something to him. Xie Yun looked surprised, then happy, "Great, Brother Ji is still alive."

"Shh." Jiang Lan raised her hand and made a gesture to silence her.

Xie Yun used his eyes to reassure her that he would not tell anyone else.
