Chapter 165 Lost

Chapter 165 Lost

Jiang Lan waited from morning to afternoon, but Qi Wuhan didn't come back.

She had originally planned to tell him after he came back, but the longer she waited, the more anxious she became. It felt like a huge rock was pressing down on her heart. She wanted to talk to him clearly as soon as possible to relieve herself of this heavy burden, but she also thought that every second she could delay was a second...

She couldn't sit still or stand still. She would glance at the door every once in a while. When she saw a figure passing by, she thought it was him coming back, and her heart would beat wildly. She became a little nervous.

It was not until the evening that An Zhong came over.

When Jiang Lan saw that kind face, she had a bad feeling.

"There is an urgent military situation at the military camp. Your Highness will not be back for a few days. His Majesty has already made arrangements and will have someone escort the girl back tomorrow."

Jiang Lan's heart turned cold, and she asked, "Will His Majesty really let me go back?"

"You are not joking. Miss, don't think too much about it. Go to bed early tonight. Someone will come to take you out of the palace early tomorrow morning." An Zhong bowed and said goodbye.

Until it was dark, Jiang Lan was still squatting by the door, her hands clasped on her knees, her head buried deep in her arms, exuding a cold and lonely aura.

She originally thought that they might have a big fight, but now she couldn't even see him...

It was not until a maid came over to remind her that it was dark and asked her if she wanted to eat something that Jiang Lan reacted. She shook her head, had no appetite and did not feel hungry.

Only after the maid left did she raise her head from her knees and look at the bright moon in the night sky. Her mood sank like a stone into the silent night.

Maybe it's better this way, no arguments, no questions, just leaving peacefully like this...

The next morning, when Jiang Lan opened the door, she saw someone waiting in the yard.

When the other person turned around, she was a little surprised.

Unexpectedly, the person who sent her out of the palace would be Ye Xuanhe, the great general of Beimo.

"Are you all packed?" He glanced at the small bag she was carrying. "Is that all you have?"

Jiang Lan didn't respond. She walked over and asked, "Where's my cousin?"

"I've already left the palace." Ye Xuanhe turned around and said, "Now that everything is packed, let's go."

Jiang Lan looked back at the bedroom behind her and grabbed the knot on the bundle tightly.

Ye Xuanhe turned his gaze back, a casual smile on his lips, "If you don't want to leave, you can go and ask His Majesty for permission."

Jiang Lan did not respond and walked forward with a cold and resolute expression.

When she arrived at the palace gate, Jiang Lan saw a carriage parked there.

Canglang and Lu Feng were standing next to the carriage. The person inside the carriage lifted the curtain, jumped out and ran towards Jiang Lan.

Only when she saw Xie Yun was there did she feel completely at ease.

"When my younger sister gets married in the future, if you two are free, come and have a drink at the wedding." Ye Xuanhe said with a smile.

Jiang Lan's expression darkened as she lifted the curtain and got into the carriage.

"I'm busy, I'm busy." Xie Yun declined his invitation and got on the carriage.

A shadow came to drive the carriage. Ye Xuanhe rode in front with Canglang and Lu Feng. The shadow drove the carriage behind the three of them and left the palace.

The atmosphere in the carriage was a little depressing.

Jiang Lan lowered her head, her eyes cast on her knees, her lips slightly pursed, her mind seemed to be thinking of nothing, and her mind seemed to be wrapped in a tangled mess, unable to touch anything real, and looked a little numb.

"Sister Lan," Xie Yun suddenly called her. When Jiang Lan looked up, he patted his shoulder and said, "If you want to cry, I'll lend you my shoulder."

Jiang Lan was slightly stunned.

"Come on, don't be embarrassed. I won't tell anyone." Xie Yun patted his shoulder again and said, "I won't lend my shoulder to anyone easily. Don't miss such a good opportunity."

Jiang Lan tried to force a smile, but it looked uglier than crying.

Xie Yun rummaged through his arms again, then asked her to stretch out her hand and put the thing he had taken out of his arms into her hand. It was a candy.

"The book says that eating something sweet will make you feel better." Xie Yun said with a smile.

Jiang Lan opened the oil paper that wrapped the candy and put it into her mouth. She found it so sweet that she could not feel any other taste for a while, no matter the bitterness lingering in her heart or the depression weighing on her mind.

"How is it? Are you feeling better?" Xie Yun asked expectantly.

Jiang Lan nodded.

Xie Yun looked out the window again and said, "We didn't have a good time strolling around this time. Next time we come, we must take a good look around and try the delicious food and wine here."

Jiang Lan also looked out the window on her side of the car. The bustling streets gradually dispelled some of the sadness of parting. She should have found a day to go out for a good stroll. She didn't know if she would come here again in the future...

But probably not.

After the carriage drove out of the royal capital, a caravan was waiting in front.

Ye Xuanhe told the two that the caravan was going to Dingcheng and asked them to follow the caravan.

"Then we won't encounter sand bandits again, right?" Xie Yun was more concerned about this issue.

Lu Feng crossed his arms and said, "The sand bandits have all been wiped out. Even if there are still some that have escaped, they are just small fry and not worth mentioning." He looked Xie Yun up and down and said, "Even a pretty boy like you wouldn't lose his life."

"Okay, there's nothing for us to do here." Ye Xuanhe walked away. Canglang grabbed Xie Yun's arm and took him away. Lu Feng also followed. Jiang Lan looked panicked, thinking that they were going to arrest people. She was about to chase them but was blocked by the shadow.

She stared at the person in front of her warily, but when her gaze met the eyes behind the mask, a familiar feeling struck her heart like lightning. She thought it was impossible, but those eyes were unmistakable...

She slowly raised her hand, wanting to take off the mask, but stopped halfway, not daring to confirm.

The next moment he raised his hand and took off the mask.

The moment the mask was removed, Jiang Lan turned her head to the side, a little afraid to see that face.

"You..." She felt as if her throat was blocked. She clutched the dress on her side and struggled to squeeze the sound out of her throat, "Why are you here?"

"Is there nothing else you want to say to me?"

Just hearing his voice, her heart was in turmoil like a boiling fish pond. How could she organize her thoughts and tell him one by one? She could only lower her eyes and respond with silence.

"Raise your head and look at me." Qi Wuhan ordered, with a hint of anger in his tone, as if he was about to take action at the next moment.

Jiang Lan gritted her teeth and raised her head. When her eyes met those cold peach blossom eyes, she felt as if she was being silently tortured. Her heart ached slightly, as if being pricked by a needle.

He just looked at her coldly without saying a word, as if he was silently condemning her, or as if he wanted her to say something first.

Speak up, speak up, speak up!

Jiang Lan also hoped that he would say something first, and she was holding back with all her might.

There were four more people in the awning not far away.

"Master, do you hear anyone talking? Why do I seem to hear nothing?"

"Brother-in-law is such a jerk! Can't he just give in first?"

“What a nice day today.”

“.…..”

After a moment of silence, Jiang Lan took a deep breath and tried to speak calmly, not as if she was about to quarrel. "I came here originally to take you back with me, but now you can't go back with me because of your status. But I must go back."

"So when you said you liked me before, you just wanted to seduce me into sleeping with you?" Qi Wuhan gave a sarcastic sneer.

"Who seduced you!" Jiang Lan was so angry that her voice was loud. She took a deep breath and calmed down silently. She told herself not to quarrel and to make things clear. "It's my fault for not explaining it to you earlier."

Hearing her admit her mistake, Qi Wuhan's eyes flickered slightly, and then he sneered, "You are not wrong, it was me who was wrong." A self-deprecating smile flashed across his eyes again, "I lost too."

"Go ahead, I won't stop you." He turned and walked away, his back as resolute as ice.

The moment he turned around, Jiang Lan wanted to hold him, raised her hand up and then dropped it. Since she had decided to leave, she should stop doing these meaningless things.

Qi Wuhan jumped onto the horse, paused for a moment when pulling the reins, looked slightly back, and then rode away.

Jiang Lan watched his figure quickly disappear behind the city gate. Her heart ached and her vision blurred. It seemed as if she would never see him again after he left...
